Whether you are looking for a relaxing holiday in the beautiful French countryside or adventurous activities, Domaine de Gare Blond offers plenty of opportunities for both.
It is an ideal destination to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the tranquillity of the French countryside.
In addition to our familiar little station 'Gare Blond Berneuil', we will rent out 3 other gîtes from April 2024, 'La Buvette' , 'La Musette' and 'Roulottede la Gare', a gypsy caravan (Pipo wagon) with a sleeping car .

In the middle of the lavish green hills of the Limousin region, the rustic, former railway station 'Gare Blond Berneuil' is quietly located.
This authentic French station, full of character, is now a charming holiday home for 2-8 people with all modern conveniences, such as a large private swimming pool, WIFI and TV.
The ambiance of 'Gare Blond Berneuil' with its many authentic details, such as the ticket office, the suitcase desk, the high ceilings, the staircase together with today's comfort, makes for an unforgettable stay in this French holiday home, completely different from other holiday homes.
And say it yourself, how many people can actually say they have holidayed in a real railway station? You?
And don't let the size of the house put you off, because despite its size, it is also very intimate and cosy for two.

- Or visit the lake of St. Pardoux, a tree-climbing park, or the vélorail. And, of course, don't forget the (flea) markets.

The rustic 'Gare Blond-Berneuil' is located in a wonderful, rural, hilly area with many forests and meadows, near the 'Monts de Blond' in the Haute Vienne department (Limousin region).
This quiet region of France, invites plenty of outdoor activities.
The former station is quietly located between the villages of Berneuil and Blond on a dead-end road off the D83, 35 km north of the city of Limoges.

Restaurants, food & wine
Like everywhere else in France, you can eat out superbly in the Haute Vienne. This region is known for its world-famous red-brown limousin cattle and sheep farming.
Which is therefore found in abundance on shop shelves, menus and in the many local markets
There are many restaurants here with a simple menu, very reasonably priced, and some better restaurants, which are a bit more expensive.
But still much cheaper than in the Netherlands or Belgium. If you are interested during your stay in the station, we can give you the necessary addresses on the spot.
You can also cook for yourself, of course. Go out, visit one of the many markets and find the tastiest ingredients.
We ourselves are very fond of some local producers of various organic products, such as fresh vegetables straight from the vegetable garden, honey from the local beekeeper and even the precious saffron, which is produced locally and of very high quality.
Haute Vienne itself is not a wine region, but it is centrally located between the wine regions. To the north are the Loire wines, to the west Bordeaux and to the south the Dordogne.
But that does not mean there is no good affordable wine to be had here - we are in France, after all.
So the supermarkets sell a wide range of wine and in Bellac itself there is a Cave with very good wines at reasonable prices.

Activities
Although almost all of France has its charms, the Haute Vienne (Limousin) is an absolute highlight as far as we are concerned. Unknown to many, but once known, everyone is positively surprised.
Here one can still find salutary peace, coupled with wonderful nature four seasons long.
There is a lot to do and enjoy with the family in Limousin. There are several amusement parks, zoos, a monkey valley, a tree climbing park, vélorail, steam train, etc. And of course plenty of (flea) markets.
And of course plenty of (flea) markets and bric-a-brac, culinary fairs and music festivals.
The Haute Vienne is the place to go to explore nature. Here you can still enjoy the silence of walking, cycling, horse riding (or motorcycling) on the many picturesque little D-roads and paths.
But also sailing, canoeing and other water sports on e.g. Lac St. Pardoux or Lac Vassivière. Or go fishing, not to mention play golf.
In the vicinity of the house are a number of beautiful golf courses, such as that of Mortemart.
Besides the many sporting challenges, there are plenty of other things to do and see. The ancient history of the Haute Vienne is literally there for the taking.
From the Stone Age (dolmen, dolmens), Roman rule (baths), to the Middle Ages (castles, including some of King Richard the Lionheart) to the near past (Oradour sur Glane) and the present.
You will also find a wide range of museums, from the world-famous Limousin porcelain in Limoges to the old village school in the quaint village of Montrol Senard. Which is said to house 19 museums, including the toy museum. Tom, an eccentric Dutchman is the proud owner.
For the more active holidaymaker, we offer all kinds of tailor-made sporting packages (cycling, hiking , motorcycling). You can then devote yourself entirely to your pursuits and we will take care of the daily worries.

To make renting our little station also financially attractive for a smaller number of people than the maximum number of 8, we apply different rates for non-holiday periods based on the number of people.

Additional mandatory costs and services when renting out
Compulsory one-off cleaning fee: € 100 or € 110 (with pets)
Deposit € 300 per stay. Deposit will be fully refunded within 7 days, after end of letting, provided everything is found to be in order.
Tourist tax is calculated on the number of persons actually staying with us multiplied by the number of nights.
The rate is approximately €0.70 per person per night.
From 18 years onwards
We remit the amount collected to the French state on a quarterly basis.
We can provide a delicious meal on request:
A 3-course menu based on an entrée, main course and dessert including a bottle of wine.
Cost per person € 21 and for children under 10 € 12.50
Meals can always be communicated to us at least one day in advance.
By mutual agreement, we can take specific wishes, such as vegetarianism, into account.
