P.s .: From the end of April 2018, our second holiday home La Gardiènne is ready to celebrate holidays. This beautiful rural gîte is currently being fully converted into an attractive holiday home suitable for a maximum of 4-5 people and is equipped with all kinds of comforts including WIFI.

The rustic 'Gare Blond-Berneuil' is situated in a beautiful, rural, hilly area with many forests and meadows, near the "Monts de Blond" in the department of Haute Vienne (region Limousin).
This wonderful, quiet region of France invites you to be active outdoors. The former train station is completely detached and quiet between the villages Berneuil and Blond on a dead-end road of the D83, 35 km north of the city Limoges.

Restaurants, food & wine
Like everywhere in France, you can also eat out in the Haute Vienne. This region is known for its world famous red-brown limousin cattle and sheep breeding.
Which can be found on the shelves of the shops, on the menu and on the many local markets
There are many restaurants here with a simple menu, very reasonably priced and some better restaurants, which are also slightly more expensive.
But still much cheaper than in the UK, Netherlands or Belgium. If you are interested in your stay in the station, we can give you the necessary addresses on the spot.
You can of course cook yourself. Go out there, visit one of the many markets and find the tastiest ingredients.
We are very charmed by some local 'producteurs' of various organic products, such as fresh vegetables straight from the vegetable garden, honey from the local beekeeper and even the precious saffron, which is locally produced and of very high quality.

The Haute Vienne itself is not a wine region, but is centrally located between the wine regions. North Loire wines, west Bordeaux and south Dordogne.
But that does not mean that there is no good affordable wine here, after all we are in France.
So in the supermarkets a wide range of wine is for sale and in Bellac there is itself a Cave with very good wines at a reasonable price.

Activities
Although almost the whole of France has its charms, the Haute Vienne (Limousin) is an absolute highlight in our opinion. Here one can find peace and quiet, accompanied by wonderful nature for four seasons.
That is why 'Gare Blond Berneuil' is already very suitable as a base for DIY holidays. Cycling, hiking, horseback riding, sailing, canoeing etc.

Besides the many sporting challenges, there are plenty of other things to do and see. The ancient history of the Haute Vienne is literally up for grabs.
From the Stone Age (dolmen, dolmens), Roman domination (baths), to the Middle Ages (castles, including some of King Richard the Lionheart) to the near past (Oradour sur Glane) and the present.
Or take a ride with the Vélorail or steam train. Furthermore, it is very nice to visit the local (rubbish) markets.

Further remarks
In order to make the renting of our station financially attractive for a smaller number of people than the maximum number of 8, we use different rates for the non-holiday periods on the basis of the number of people.

We offer two types of meals:
* An arrival meal for € 40 based on a main course and a dessert for 2 adults and 2 children.
* A 3-course menu based on an entrée, main course and dessert including a bottle of wine. Cost per person € 17.50 and for children under 10 years € 10.
Meals can always be communicated to us at least a day in advance.
For the months of June, July, August and September and the holiday weeks in May, October and December, renting the station is only possible per week.
In the remaining periods, many variations are possible in consultation, such as:

Weekend and midweek prices are based on accommodation in the entire station. Excluding € 15 energy costs per day.
Overnight is € 70 based on two persons including breakfast.
