The house
Attractive, spacious (95 m2) comfortable gite, equipped with all modern conveniences: including a private heated swimming pool (all for you), equipped with alarm and cover for security reasons.
Barres Rouges" is currently being thoroughly renovated.
So that at the beginning of this season it will look tiptop again.
The bathroom and kitchen will be renewed. The bedrooms are being fitted with new beds. The master bedroom a 2-person box spring 180 x 210 cm. The other bedroom 2 separate boxsprings 90 x 200 cm

The holiday home remains beautiful with its beautiful authentic beams and a large wood-burning stove.
Garden: total 2000 m2 (fully fenced) with stunning views over wide surroundings and child-friendly. Around the house there is a spacious sunny garden with sandpit. Around the house there is a large sunny garden with sandpit, water pool, slide (small children can play here) and large shaded terrace with barbecue. There is also a large playground with a heated swimming pool (8x4 metres) and sun terrace. The playground is a great place for older children to run around, play football etc..
Cottage downstairs:
Cosy living room with large wood-burning stove, Wi-Fi, satellite TV,(including Dutch, German, English and French TV and radio) open connection to comfortable fully equipped dining kitchen. Toilet room, bathroom with free-standing bathtub, separate shower, washbasin. Outdoor platform attached to living room where you can enjoy beautiful views in the morning and of course throughout the day. (In the evening enjoy the peace and quiet and sleeping children within hearing distance).

The Haute Vienne (Limousin) is attractive for culture, nature, rest and space seekers.
A fantastic walking area on (marked) trails/hiking routes, possibility of mountain biking through the: unspoiled nature: wooded hills, rolling meadows, swimming and fishing lakes, lots of space and a friendly helpful population. There is no mass tourism here, but especially in the summer season (but also beyond) there are all kinds of (small-scale) activities and festivals, markets, brocantes etc.
A region in Central/South West France full of history: authentic towns and villages, castles and in the capital Limoges (known for enamel and porcelain art) several museums. In the beautiful city of Perigueux, you can enjoy shopping.
Your detached holiday home (about 10 km north of Dordogne) with lots of privacy, is the last house on a dead end street in a hamlet (4 houses). All residents are French; they are very happy with the rebuilt Barres Rouges and you are very welcome. From your own yard you can walk straight into the woods and fields.

Wij zijn hier 2 weken op vakantie geweest in dit huis! Zowel het contact met de eigenaren als de ontvangst bij het aankomen was top!
Een aangenaam huisje met oude elementen een hele grote tuin waar je verschillende leuke plekjes hebt en een mooi groot zwembad!
Het huisje is van alle gemakken voorzien , een volledig ingerichte keuken met zelfs een oven en badkamer met bad en douche!
De buren zijn zeer vriendelijk en je verblijft er op een super rustige plaats waar je echt kan ontstressen!

Wij hebben genoten van onze 2 weken vakantie in dit huis. Vooral het zwembad was heerlijk. De omgeving is prachtig. Ook de vriendelijkheid van Paul en de eigenaren zijn ook echt een pluspunt. Kortom een heerlijke vakantie

We waren de eerste huurders na de Coronastop. We hebben de mogelijkheid gekregen van Maria en Rutger om toch twee weken het huisje te huren. Het huisje is groot en ligt in een vier huizen groot idyllisch dorpje. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien. Grote volledige keuken, Douche en hoekbad. Apart toilet en twee grote slaapkamers.
Een grote tuin rondom het huis. Door de Corona was de tuin nog niet helemaal bijgewerkt en was er op sommige plaatsen nog best veel onkruid te zien. Achter huis huisje kan je lekker genieten van de zon en zit je privé. Het zwembad is verwarmd maar zowel het zwembad als het plaatsje rondom het zwembad is aan een fikse update toe. Hier zit je niet privé. Er is in de omgeving heel veel te zien. En een echte aanrader. Wij hebben twee weken volop genoten. Gastheer Paul heeft leuke tips die het bezoeken waard zijn en Maria en Rutger zijn een fantastische gastvrouw en gastheer.
Restaurants, food & wine
During the warm lunch with regional dishes, according to French custom THE warm meal of the day (daily menu 3 to 5 courses, from Euro 12, -) you get to know the locals in an authentic way.
In Châlus (2 km) and in other villages you will find several terraces and restaurants.
On the local markets you can buy all kinds of delicious fresh local products. Specialities; Limousin meat, foie gras, chestnuts, truffles and of course all sorts of cheese and ham.
Activities
Fishing, tennis, kayaking, bird watching. 18-hole golf course just 30 minutes by car or 45 minutes by car.
Visit: local markets, adventure park, zoo, swimming lakes and other attractions.
Recommended: daytrip to Limoges with beautiful cathedral, interesting museums or to the authentic Oradour sur Glane (a destroyed and abandoned town in the Second World War) or to Perigueux (medieval streets, city palaces, fantastic shopping streets).
In the season in Châlus and surrounding villages there are all kinds of festivities: fireworks, open air cinema, all kinds of competitions, second hand markets, fairs, parades etc.
In the direct neighbourhood: from your own yard directly into the forest, or walk a part of the route Santiago de Compostella, sporty cycling through the hilly landscape, visit activity park or castle.
