The house
What a space: (170m2) attractive and comfortably furnished villa with private heated pool 10x5 m on 3 ha of land and everything all to yourself. Verger Marrons.is a luxurious, cosy holiday home: by small invisible adjustments, also suitable for less mobile persons. All on one level, space everywhere and parking next door. The master bedroom (+ bathroom en suite) is at the end of the hallway (therefore also very suitable for families with grandparents).
Garden: The property is divided into: fully enclosed garden around Verger Marrons with terraces, sun loungers, dining sets, stone barbecue and swimming pool. Around it on three sides "your" chestnut grove. Plenty of nature and yet only 2 km from the centre of Chalus. From the property, small paths lead to the forest, between the meadows or to the supermarket (1 km). Swimming pool and adjoining terrace are slightly lower: 3 steps or concrete slope to get there easily. Other terraces are at house level. Outdoor toys include: sandpit, small slide.
Holiday home: In Verger Marrons everything is spacious. Entrance via hallway with games and toy cupboard. From the hall you enter the cosy living room (42m2). There is: plenty of daylight, beautiful view of the garden with swimming pool, view of the orchard, large sitting area, wood-burning stove, satellite TV (including Dutch, German, English and French TV and radio,) Wi-Fi and open connection with fully equipped luxury kitchen and dining room.
From the living room, double doors lead to the conservatory (2 walls can be opened): a lovely place to laze in the "open air" and the children in the pool.

The Haute Vienne (Limousin)/ Nouveau Aquitaine is attractive for culture, nature, peace and space seekers.
A fantastic hiking and mountain biking area through unspoilt nature, wooded hills, rolling meadows, swimming and fishing lakes, lots of space but also luxurious shopping streets and a friendly helpful population. Mass tourism is absent here.
A region in Central / South West France full of history: authentic towns and villages, castles and in the capital Limoges, (enamel and porcelain art) there are several museums. You can enjoy shopping in the beautiful city of Perigueux. Especially in the summer season (but also outside of it), there are all kinds of festivities in the area: fireworks, barbecues, parades, fairs, second-hand or art markets, harvest festivals including chestnut festivals, etc. etc.
Your detached holiday villa (about 10 km north of the Dordogne) is located on 3 hectares of land all to yourself. Yet all amenities such as groceries, bank, restaurants are only 2 km away. and large supermarket 1 km away.

Heel mooi huis met hele grote tuin volledig afgesloten voor de twee honden. Alles was aanwezig. Lekker genoten van het grote zwembad. Vriendelijk ontvanst van Carol en Fred. Onderhoud zwembad op woensdag door Tom en dochtertje Mia (top mensen). Aangenaam bezoek van eigenaars. Top vakantie voor herhaling vatbaar

Een heerlijke vakantie gehad in Verger Marrons, en lekker genoten met ons gezinnetje.
Het weer zat heerlijk mee, waardoor we uren hebben kunnen genieten van de rust in en rond het huis en de mooie grote tuin. Met onze 2 dochters van 8 en 10 die de zwemmicrobe helemaal te pakken hebben, was dit huisje een heerlijke topper met het mooie grote zwembad.
Maar ook het huisje zelf is zeer goed uitgerust, met alle praktische dingen voorhanden (wasmachine, televisie/wifi, keukenapparaten, badkamer,...)
De winkel op wandelafstand was bovendien een grote surplus, elke dag lekker vers stokbrood en etenswaren.
In de nabije buurt (half uurtje rijden) was voldoende te doen om ook met de kinderen leuke uitstapjes te maken (vélorail bij Espace Hermeline, kanoën in Aixe-sur-Vienne, bezoekje aan Limoges,...).
Het ontvangst ter plaatse door Carol en Fred was heel aangenaam, en ze hebben ons goed geholpen. Ook de huiseigenaars Maria en Rutger hebben we toevallig gezien, zeer fijne en vriendelijke mensen, ook zeer vlotte en duidelijke communicatie op voorhand over het verblijf...

Een heerlijk rustig gelegen vakantiehuis. Zeer ruim en van alle gemakken voorzien. Prima uitvalsbasis voor wandelingen in de buurt. Maar ook wat verder weg is er voldoende te ontdekken.. Genoten van het goed onderhouden zwembad.

Restaurants, food & wine
During the hot lunch with regional dishes, by French custom THE hot meal of the day (daily menu 3 to 5 courses, from Euro 15,-) you will get to know the locals in an authentic way.
In Châlus (2 km) and also in other villages you will find several terraces and restaurants.
The local markets sell all sorts of delicious fresh local produce. Specialities; Limousin meat, foie gras, chestnuts (in our case from our own orchard), truffles and of course all kinds of cheese and ham....
Activities
Fishing, tennis, kayaking, bird watching. !8-hole golf course just 30 car minutes or 45-minute drive to golf course under Dutch management.
Visit: local markets, adventure park, zoo (park), swimming lakes and other attractions.
Recommended: day trip to Limoges with beautiful cathedral, interesting museums or to the authentically preserved Oradour sur Glane (a World War II destroyed and abandoned town) or to Perigueux (medieval streets, city palaces, fantastic shopping streets).
In season, Châlus and surrounding villages have all kinds of festivities: fireworks, open-air cinema, all kinds of competitions, second-hand markets, fairs, bric-a-brac, parades exhibitions, etc.
