Gites Foret

Welcome to Gites Forets, a modern conversion of an early 19 century barn situated in the Hamlet of Les Forets. There are 2 acres of garden and parkland in which you a swim or soak up some sunshine around the decked pool area or find a pleasant spot to sit and enjoy the wildlife while casting a fishing line in our pretty little lake.

Your Gite is located on the edge of the Monts de Blond an area of designated natural beauty with a beautiful rolling landscape of granite foothills, lakes, forests and meadows close to villages of Cieux , Oradour sur Glane and Nantiat all within a 10 minute drive while St Junien and Bellac are larger towns a little further away with a wider range of shops, supermarkets and public amenities including swimming pools, cinemas and tourist information centres. Your holiday home has level access from your parking space at the front of the property leading to the Gite entrance, a rear door leads to your private garden and patio are equipped with a BBQ and garden table and chairs, ideal for alfresco dining or enjoying a glass of wine while marvelling at the star lit night skies.

Your enclosed private garden leads to a further area of shared
grounds, here you will find an above ground pool and decked area with comfortable garden furniture and sun loungers (this pool will be for your sole use and not shared other than for essential maintenance) A fence separates the garden area from the adjoining meadow and lake, the pool area is also secure and children will need to be supervised when using both of these areas due to the deep.

Kitchen and dining
The spacious kitchen is well equipped for 4 adults or a small family,
featuring fitted base units, ceramic hob and oven, micro wave, fridge with freezer box, washing machine, coffee maker and electric toaster and kettle.

Living room
The lounge dining area is set off of the kitchen with a table and chairs for 4 people, a high chair is available on request. The lounge is bright and modern with a Scandinavian chaise long sofa for 4 people, 28" colour smart tv(with French and English programmes available), a storage cupboard is located off of the living room for your coats and luggage; you will also find an iron and ironing board. An open treaded staircase in the lounge provides access to the first floor where you will find both bedrooms.

Bedrooms
There are two bedrooms, both of which are upstairs, a master bedroom with a double metal Victorian style bed frame and sprung mattress, bedside cabinets and lamps, chest of drawers and wardrobe. The second bedroom has two single Victorian style metal beds with a bedside cabinet, lamp and a wardrobe for storage. An additional single bed is available for £10 per night and a travel cot can be provided on request.

Bathroom
The shower room is set on the ground floor between the living room and kitchen, adequately sized and featuring a storage cabinet, hair dryer, shower unit, wc and hand basin.
Bath towels, hand towels and flannels are provided, additional pool towels can be provided for the pool area etc on request.

Heating
The Gite shares an oil boiler central heating system with the adjoining
owners accommodation, oil filled electric heaters can be provided on.

Garden and outside
There is a private garden at the rear of the Gite for alfresco dining on the terrace, the garden is gated and leads to a shared area of lawn and a secure pool area. The above ground swimming pool is 6m x 4m with an adjoining decked area furnished with sun loungers, a large comfortable garden sofa and a selection of garden and pool games.Open from 10am to 7pm the unheated pool is available in July and August, although this may be extended weather.
A gated enclosure leads to the largest area of the grounds, set on a sloping hillside you will find a tree lined meadow with an unmade path leading to the pretty little lake. Over 80 species of birds frequent the parkland including Hoopoe, Golden Oriole and Kingfisher, with wildlife including red squirrel, badgers and deer. The pleasure lake has carp from 3 - 15lbs largely unfished for hard fighting and crafty, plus a large quantity of silver fish

Parking and garages
There is a parking space available for guests at the front of the property.

Visitor suitability
We have striven to make the Gite and grounds as accessible as is practicable for all to enjoy, however we hope you can appreciate that due to the age of the property and rural nature of the grounds it may not be suitable for all.

The Gite has an open trended staircase , there are also small steps on the ground and first floor and from the private garden to the pool. The meadow is uneven and slopes quite steeply down to the lake via an unmade path ,the lake has deep water and steep banks to the rear this means children will need to be accompanied when in this area. The swimming pool is above ground with steps both in and out, this area is secure and we ask that children are supervised when swimming
