The Dordogne border and the closest of many pretty bastide towns in the area, Eymet, are only 7 km away. The gite is a stand alone property with its own private terrace and direct access to the heated 10x5m pool.

Restaurants, food & wine
Being in the Bordeaux wine producing area means there are a lot of wine tours and tastings on offer. St Emillion, about an hour away is the most famous of the 21 appellations in the area and the world heritage site is definitely worth a visit. The narrow streets with the numerous wine shops, cafes and restaurants provide a beautiful setting and the journey through the vineyards on the wine train is not to be missed. Closer to home, around Bergerac many of the local Chateaux and Caves offer free tastings and tours; Monbazillac being one of the best.
There are many good restaurants within easy reach of La Catusse varying from honest French cooking to haute cuisine.
Activities
Beaches/swimming/kayaking.
The Atlantic coast is about a two hour drive away, but there are a number of closer lakes with beaches for swimming.. There are also a number of municipal swimming pools in the surrounding area and even a few water parks about an hour’s drive away. It’s also possible to canoe and kayak on the nearby Dropt and Garonne rivers as well as on the more challenging Dordogne.
Cycling
Cycling is a great way of exploring the gently rolling countryside as the many roads meander amongst the fields, vineyards and villages.
Golf
The nearest course is a 9 hole and located at Tombeboeuf, La Barthe (15 km) but if you want an 18 hole experience Chateau de Vigiers (27 km) and Villeneuve-sur-Lot Golf and Country Club (33km) are within easy reach.
Horse riding
There are a number of stables within a short drive.
Tennis
The nearest courts are in Lauzun (5 km).

The rolling gentle countryside provides a number of good local walks over a variety of different distances.

Further remarks
La Catusse is situated 5km from Lauzun, a small town with atm, baker, butcher, 2 restaurants, small supermarket; and 5 km from Miramont de Guyenne, a larger town that has more of the above plus bigger supermarkets. Technically in the Lot-et-Garonne department but sitting on the Dordogne and Gironde borders in the Aquitaine region, La Catusse is a great base for exploring one of the most beautiful areas of France.
Eymet (7km) is the closest of the many pretty bastide towns in the area. They each have a good selection of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and most have a weekly market. Issigeac’s (24km) Sunday market is definitely one of the best. In July and August there are also night markets available and ‘tables gourmandes’ in many local villages. This is street dining offering visitors the chance to sample locally produced wine and food.
Bergerac (30 mins) is the closest ‘big town’ with its picturesque old centre and the cosmopolitan Bordeaux is an hour by train. The city is a world heritage site and was voted Europe’s best destination in 2015 and offers something for everyone.
