The house
Villa Vinha (very suitable for 2 friendly families) is a modern, architect-designed wooden house located at the foot of the Montagne Noire. It overlooks the Minervois vineyards, the Cathar region and the Pyrenees in the distance. A fine base to visit the historic fortified city of Carcassonne, taste delicious Minervois wines, or spend a day at the beach. The house is located at the end of a cul-de-sac. The centre of the lively town of Caunes Minervois is only a 7-minute walk away and has all amenities such as a bakery, a butcher, a supermarket and some good restaurants. The holiday home is modern and luxuriously furnished and fully equipped. It has four double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a private heated pool (open from 1 May - 1 October), outdoor kitchen and large panoramic terrace with unobstructed views. Lots of privacy. The house is not suitable for small children.

The modern villa was recently built with a tasteful combination of wood, glass and concrete. An elongated terrace stretches the entire length of the house. The views are breathtaking and completely unobstructed.
On the main terrace you will find a seating area, a dining table and a plancha. Sliding doors give access to the kitchen and living room. Through the terrace you walk past 3 of the 4 bedrooms and then get to the pool. The pool is heated and secured with an electric roller deck. While swimming, you can also enjoy the great views. There are comfortable sun loungers and the adjacent pool house has a lounge set. There is also an outdoor kitchen with fridge and running water.
The lounge is spacious with a concrete cast floor, large glass windows, comfortable seating area by a flat-screen TV (75 inches). The dining table is almost 4 metres long and made from a single piece of wood. The modern, very well-equipped and luxurious kitchen with Gaggenau appliances and wine fridge completes the living area.
The central hall leads to the bedrooms. All four bedrooms are for two persons. Two extra single beds can be added on request (for an additional fee). Two bedrooms have a private bathroom and the other two bedrooms share the third bathroom.
Villa Vinha has a sustainable system for both heating and cooling by means of a heat pump. The temperature difference in summer compared to outside is very pleasant and refreshing, also during the nights. This cooling system is indicated as air conditioning at this villa. Part of the required electricity is generated by solar panels.
The indoor garage offers space for 2 cars. Here there is also a separate room for the washing machine and dryer and a table football game, darts and shuffleboard.

Restaurants, food & wine
You are in the heart of Minervois and with us literally at the foot of the vines. There are 52 grape varieties grown to make the most diverse wines. For wine lovers, it is a very interesting wine region with countless opportunities to taste at the winemakers themselves.
The region is fairly touristy and that translates into many restaurants of varying quality and budget. There are several 1 and 2 Michelin star restaurants. Here and there you will find some Spanish influences, such as tapas. One thing they all have in common is the friendliness and generous smiles of the people in this region.
Activities
1. First of all, you will enjoy the place, the peace, almost 100% privacy, the breathtaking views (the Pyrenees from the far east to almost the far west), the swimming pool with outdoor kitchen, the fine beds, the luxurious kitchen, the floor cooling in summer (more pleasant than air conditioning) and the modern, comfortable interior.
2. Within walking distance is the medieval town of Caunes-Minervois, with several restaurants and bars, the bakery, butcher, pharmacy, etc. Apart from the Minervois wines, the town is famous for its red marble. This marble was used in large quantities in, for example, Versailles. The historical centre hosts many concerts and exhibitions. One of the quarries can be visited and there is a marble museum in the town itself.
3. The immediate surroundings consist of vineyards interspersed with pine forests. Right by the house starts the Montagne Noir, a beautiful natural area for hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers. The Minervois wine route runs through the town. You can taste at almost all wineries!
4. In the vicinity are many famous towns worth visiting: Carcassonne with its immense medieval cité, the former Cathar strongholds Minerve and Lastours, Narbonne with its many restaurants and the best food halls for miles around. Fontfroid Abbey, beautifully located, its own wines, its own beers, and also an exceptionally good restaurant. In short, worth a visit.
5. And then, of course, there's sea and beaches 45 minutes away. Narbonne plage, Gruissan (sea salt, flamingos, trendy beach bars) or Leucate.
6. For children/teens, the caves of Cabrespine are a must: there are tyroliennes in the almost 400-metre-deep cave and you can abseil. There is a large Aqua park in nearby Carcassonne.
7. The famous Canal du Midi also captures the imagination. You can hire boats, cycle along the canal or relax on a terrace at one of the many locks.

Further remarks
The conciergerie 'Beau Vacances' will take care of the reception and tour on arrival. They will contact you directly well before the planned arrival date to coordinate the time of arrival. You can contact them for all your questions during your stay. They speak Dutch, French and English. They also take care of the final cleaning, pool maintenance (twice a week) and bed linen/towels.
