We would like to welcome you to our first gîte in the farm we converted, located in the breathtaking Parc Naturel Régional de l'Aubrac, " the hidden pearl of France".
We built this gîte in the part of the farm where the wine press used to be.
Through the private terrace you enter the living room / kitchen with all amenities. A corner sofa where you can relax and a bar table with comfortable bar stools.
The bedroom adjoins the living room and can be closed off by so-called Japanese sliding curtains. The bedroom has a 160 x 200 cm double bed and an antique wardrobe.
Behind a glass wall, we have created a bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet.

In the north of the Aveyron department, the gîte La Vernhe is located at 650 metres altitude in a village of some 600 inhabitants, closely linked to the history of the Aubrac. Our converted farmhouse is set among meadows and borders a forest. It is the last house (4th) on a country road and if the postman does not come you have a chance to see only some grazing cows or a passing deer or fox.

Restaurants, food & wine
There is a wide choice of restaurants, a regional dish being aligot with sausage or a farçou. In the summer months, every village or town has a night market with only local products, highly recommended.
And yes the wine, come and taste them!
And what is France without its cheeses, plenty of choice here in the region too. Visit the cheese factory in Laguiole or the caves where Roquefort cheese matures slowly, or a trip to Rocamadour for a delicious goat's cheese.
Activities
For sporting activities, this is the place to be.
There are excellent and well-marked hiking trails, the well-known pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela runs through the Aubrac and past many villages around us.
Swimming is possible (apart from our own swimming pool) in the Lot or nearby lakes or municipal swimming pools.
Or enjoy cycling/mountain biking, Trail D'Aqui.
Not far from us is the golf course Golf de L'Aubrac, 9 holes course with a great restaurant.
How about canoeing in the Lot near Entraygues, hire a canoe and float or paddle 10 or 20 km down the beautiful river.
In winter, there are skiing and cross-country skiing opportunities in Laguiole or Le Lioran and Le Puy Mary in the Cantal.

Further remarks
*Sorry to say that the site is not wheelchair-friendly and is not suitable for people with mobility problems this due to differences in height, stairs and gravel paths.
*The pool on our site is a saltwater pool and therefore more friendly to eyes and skin than a traditional salt bath.
*Reduced rate! As we are still working on a second gîte and the terrain around our house is not yet what we envisage, this gîte is strongly reduced in price for the time being.
