Méjannes-le-Clap
This village is 3 kilometres away and is a good place for your daily shopping.
Méjannes le Clap is a beautiful small village. Every Monday morning there is a market on the large village square, with real Provencal colours and scents. Be sure to try the paella or poulet roti that is freshly prepared at the market. There is also a supermarket, a post office, a café, two bakeries, a leather workshop (very nice to visit) and some trinket shops. You can eat at the restaurant, the café Le Dolmen or at pizzeria Philippe (also take-away).
Bigger shopping can be done in St. Ambroix at several hypermarchés (often also open on Sunday mornings). This is the nearest larger town and is about a 25 minute drive away.

Restaurants, food & wine

The Barjac cooperative winery, founded in 1929, currently has 50 members and produces an average of 20,000 hectolitres from 300 hectares of vines. It unites the neighbouring communes of Barjac, Saint-Privat-de Champclos, Montclus in the Gard and Bessas, Vagnas in the Ardèche.
The winegrowers of the cooperative work sustainably; they adapt the treatments according to the observations in the field and the cryptogamic risks

Production is diversified with the planting of recommended grape varieties (Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Marselan Chardonnay, etc.) on soils of very diverse geology.
Knowledge of the soil, control of yields, the creation of suitable grape varieties, the know-how and solidarity of the staff have made possible the changes required to produce quality wines in the Côtes du Vivarais, IGP Oc, IGP Côteaux de appellation. Ardèche.

Activities

Gîte Nicole is situated on the private holiday park Le Mattas in the Gard.
The park is situated on a hill in the middle of the Garrigues near the village Méjannes le Clap. When constructing the park, much attention was paid to preserving the original, unspoilt nature. The bungalows are surrounded by many evergreen dwarf and holm oaks and fragrant wild box bushes. Along the paths grows thyme, rosemary, lavender etc.. A walk in the park is a real experience of scent!
The private owners, mainly Dutch, have united in an Owners' Association and appointed a Dutch manager who permanently resides in the park and takes care of the collective facilities such as the swimming pool, tennis courts, the playground and activities.
The park consists of 120 bungalows. These bungalows are built of white plastered stone. Each bungalow has a private area of about 400 to 600 m2 with natural vegetation.
Much attention is paid to the good atmosphere and safety in the park. The facilities are also designed to maintain the special character. The manager takes care of collective matters such as the "terrain des sports", the reception and giving information. There are no shops, restaurants or discos in the park. (Note: for older youth who like to go out in the evening, there are few to no organized activities).
In the village of Méjannes-le-Clap (3 km away) there is a bakery, supermarket and several restaurants.
Dogs are allowed in the park but must be kept on a leash.
