The house
Luxurious and spacious (100m2) gîte in a beautiful 18th-century property in southern France. The property is situated in a valley of the river Cèze and is surrounded by lavender fields, vineyards and fruit orchards. This gîte with stunning views has 3 bedrooms: An attractive open-plan master bedroom with spacious box spring (180x220); a second bedroom with single box spring (100x210); and a children's bedroom with bunk beds (90x200 and 140x200). There is thus space for up to 3 adults plus 3 children.
In the living room you will find the dining table, seating area, TV (with Netflix), fireplace and the open kitchen with cosy bar. The kitchen is fully equipped (incl dishwasher, oven, microwave, Nespresso machine etc). The bathroom has a spacious rain shower, double sink and toilet. The cottage has a (spacious) balcony with seating and a private terrace with picnic table and deck chairs.
Le Mas Saint-Michel d'Euzet has excellent facilities for you to use! There is a large swimming pool (13 x 6m) with a large terrace and comfortable loungers. There is a children's play area with sandpit, swings, tumbling sticks and trampoline. There is also a petanque court and football facilities. Sports enthusiasts can also indulge themselves in the well-equipped CrossFit box, in the second (25m long) swimming pool or with a walking/hard-running/cycling/mountain bike ride through the beautiful countryside.
In the former stables of the property, a common room has been created, containing a large closet with games and toys, cupboards with books for young and old, washing machine, dryer and a so-called 'honesty' bar with local wines, home-made products and vegetables from the kitchen garden.
Within walking distance is an idyllic little river with pebble beach and waterfalls. Ideal for swimming, building dams or catching fish in summer. There are also many attractions and beautiful villages and towns within easy reach.
All in all, an ideal place to have a fantastic holiday!

Le Mas Saint-Michel d'Euzet is located in the valley of the river Cèze on flat land between lavender fields, fruit orchards and vineyards with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. Le Mas is located on a quiet country road that is only accessible to local traffic. At the beginning of this road there is a bus stop to take the bus to Bagnols-sur-Cèze or Barjac. The village of Saint-Michel d'Euzet itself is situated at 1 km distance against the mountainside.

We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad in Les Mas Saint-Michel d’Euzet. Alles was perfect verzorgd. Vooraf kregen we al informatie door gestuurd over de route, de omgeving, tips voor uitjes en leuke restaurantjes. Bij aankomst werden we vriendelijk ontvangen door het gastgezin. En we kregen een welkoms ontbijt pakket.
De gites was prachtig en luxe afgewerkt. We hadden drie slaapkamers, een grote keuken en een fijne badkamer waarin aan alles gedacht is. De kinderen (9 en 12 jaar) hebben zich goed geamuseerd in en rondom de boerderij. Het zwembad was voor hen favoriet. Er was ook een speelgedeelte (met trampoline, schommels en een grote zandbak en pluktijd) wat voor de jongste nog heel leuk was. Het gastgezin was betrokken en altijd in voor een praatje en zo nodig heel behulpzaam bij vragen. De gemeenschappelijke ruimte bevat een spellenkast, een boekenkast en veel overig speelgoed. Ook staan er een wasmachine en droger waar je gebruik van mag maken. En er staat een koelkast waar je (tegen betaling) een heerlijke fles wijn uit mag pakken.
Al met al een heerlijk verblijf waarin het ons aan niets tekort kwam. Wij raden deze locatie dan ook zeker aan!
Restaurants, food & wine
There are many cosy restaurants and terraces in the area, for example:
- Grain de Soleil (Goudargues): Many French visitors, highly recommended!
- La Galantine (Goudargues): Good restaurant with nice terrace owned by Dutch people! Very popular with the local French population.
- Bagnol Plage (Bagnols-sur-Cèze) has food trucks in the summer, open at noon and in the evening. For €7, children can play unlimited in the inflatable play park. Live music is also a regular feature. Cosy and something for everyone!
- Du Commerce (Goudargues): Best (we think) of the terraces on the quayside in Goudargues. Good burgers and surprising bistro-style dishes. Definitely suitable to go to with children!
- Guinguette La Frigoulette (Saint-André-de-Roquepertui): Large, cosy terrace fantastically located on a gravel beach of the Cèze. Simple menu (bbq and lots of home-made fries). Ideal for with children!
Do you want to enjoy culinary pleasures? These are our personal favourites for a quality-time evening without the kids:
- Lauret's (Bagnols-sur-Cèze): Cosy little restaurant with handwritten menu-board that the chef will explain to you personally. Surprising dishes, time and again delicious food!
- Mas du Bellier (La Roque-sur-Cèze): Cosy restaurant with beautiful terrace on the Cèze, fresh lobster, real French cuisine. Not aimed at children.
- La vieille fontaine (Cornillon): Gastronomic restaurant with terrace with fantastic views over the valley. Recommended for a romantic dinner for 2!
Besides the many restaurants and terraces, there are many wineries within a stone's throw where you can taste and buy wine. After all, we are in the middle of the Côtes-du-Rhône area! For instance Saint-Nabor (Cornillion), La Romance (Saint Gervais), Sainte Anne (Saint Gervais), Les 4 Chemins (Laudun)... all domaines with quality wines!
Activities
Apart from the facilities on the grounds of Le Mas Saint-Michel d'Euzet (2 swimming pools, CrossFit Box, petanque court, children's play area), within walking distance are 'les Cascades du Sautadet' (the waterfalls of the Cèze) which are absolutely worth a visit and 'Plage Saint-Michel', an idyllic pebble beach by the Cèze which gives access to the river for swimming, building dams, playing with the rapids or catching fish.
In addition, there are many things to do and see in the area:
- Lovely towns & villages nearby such as Goudargues, Montclus, La-Roque-sur-Cèze, Barjac, Vénéjan, Uzès, Nimes, Orange, Avignon...
- Walking, cycling, stepping: through towns or in nature. Recommended in the area is the Chartreuse de Valbonne, an old monastery in a beautiful wooded area. There are also several beautiful hiking trails in the area (booklet available), of which one comes directly along le Mas Saint-Michel d'Euzet.
- Sightseeing: the impressive Pont du Gard, Vallon Pont d'Arc, the Gorges d'Ardèche or one of the many castles in the neighbourhood.
- Canoeing or paddling through the beautiful nature, for example in the Ardeche (40 min drive) or closer to Goudarches.
- Climbing in one of the climbing forests or indoor climbing parks
- Various museums
- (Brocante) markets
- Wine domaines to visit (including 'degustation'), lavender- or for example nougat producers
In addition, there are many activities for/with children in the area such as play parks, animal parks (the crocodile farm is highly recommended!), canoeing, climbing forests, children's museums, one of the many caves, etc.
