The house
This 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment is situated on the first and second floors of an old nunnery with views over the old town of Beziers from the wraparound terrace.
The apartment comfortably sleeps 7 people maximum in 3 bedrooms and is ideally suited for families as the third bedroom has bunk beds and a further pull out single bed that is stored beneath the bunks if not required.
The apartment is accessed from the pretty street of Rue St Jacques. Access is on the street at ground level. Inside the main door you will have a view of the pretty courtyard and the apartment is situated up wooden steps to the left. There are 2 apartments on this staircase and the duplex is the second one up just a few more steps.
The private front door leads to the first floor where there are 2 bedrooms, one being the children’s room and sleeping 3 in single beds (bunk bed and pull-out). The other room has a day bed which opens to a queen size bed. These 2 bedrooms have access to a bathroom with bath and shower and an adjacent separate toilet. There is also ample wardrobe space for both bedrooms in the corridor just outside.
This floor also boasts a beautiful lounge area with high ceilings and beautiful original stone walls. There is a large wide-screen TV in this room and plenty of windows with impressive city views.
Stairs lead to the second floor where you will find a large family area containing the kitchen which is open-plan to the dining area and a further lounge area. There is a door to the master bedroom which has a queen size bed and en-suite bathroom.
The kitchen looks out over the old roman arena and to the other side is a wraparound terrace on 2 sides with views of the church and the old town. The terrace has a seating area for morning coffee in the sun and aperos in the evening.
The apartment is naturally warm in winter and cool in summer due to the amazing thick stone walls. There is however additional heating for the winter and fans for the summer.

The apartment is in the old city, with its picturesque winding streets and historical character. A great deal of the most interesting areas are within a short walk including the Allées Paul Riquet , Theatre, Cathedral, City Hall, several Museums and shopping district. The city has an excellent website that contains a great deal of information on practical matters such as garbage collection, parking, and the like, but also on attractions and activities. There is also an online city journal with interesting local articles and activities. There is a link on the city website.

Appartement St Jacques is a large and very comfortable townhouse on a quiet street in the historic centre of Béziers. We stayed there with 4 adults and 2 kids. Wonderful view from the upstairs windows. Great 'parents' bedroom/bathroom upstairs, nice 'kids' room/bathroom downstairs and an extra (smaller) room with a double bed. In the house we found everything we needed, kitchen utensils, clean bedlinen and towels, washing machine etc. Parking (for free) on the street. Several fabulous restaurants and shops within walking distance. We loved the atmosphere of this very romantic but not touristy cosy little town. Plenty excursions by car or train (15 minute walk to trainstation) to nearby cities, bus directly to a nice beach. We ended our days in 'our' spacious living room, trying local wines and cheeses. The weather was extremely hot when we stayed there, but the walls kept the house cool and quiet. We will be back!

.Centrally located in Béziers in a monumental building on the remains of a Roman theatre is this charming rooftop apartment full of character. A spacious - I might say grand - living, two bathrooms and several bedrooms (the master bedroom with a walk around balcony is a delight in itself). Tasteful furniture, the basic amenities and lots of living space (high ceilings, windows on all sites). An apartment that allows you to live in (not just sleep) and feel at ease. A great coffee machine that brews a fresh espresso together with some croissants and fresh fruits, bought around the corner, are a perfect start for a day walking through unspoiled Béziers or to the nearby train station where a bus departs frequently for the beach at Valras-Plage (20 minutes ride). If you are looking for Saint Tropez vibes don’t go here. But if you enjoy unspoiled local French Mediterranean life and scenery, you will certainly enjoy Béziers and this apartment. Part of the local atmosphere will be the early morning gathering of the municipality service across the road (a 15 min buzz of activity that may wake up light sleepers) reminding you that you are staying in a city centre and not in a tourist resort! I stayed there in July and though rather hot outside, inside it remained very agreeable. I love to have that summer feeling (rather than to blow it away with airco), and to feel like a local (the other residents in the building are locals): this apartment is perfect for that. Besides this, the owners (they use it themselves) are a very nice family and you can feel the positive vibe this brings to the apartment (if you know what I mean).

L'appartement est vraiment beau, on a l'impression de découvrir un bout d'histoire en y venant.
Il est spacieux, bien équipé. Les vues sont magnifiques. Chacun y a trouvé son bonheur! Nos enfants ont été ravis de trouver des jouets et qu'il y ait une baignoire.
Le petit plus : la machine à café à grains!
