Holiday home La Sentinelle is a cosy holiday home with authentic details. The completely renovated former stable was built 'en pierre', with the ochre-coloured limestone that is so characteristic of this region. It is located next to Manoir La Sainte, an authentic country house from 1798.
On the sides of the house are cosy sitting areas. The covered terrace in front of the house is a real extension of the living room. The large enclosed garden offers plenty of room for children to play. The garden consists mostly of lawn, on different levels. There is also a table tennis table and a barbecue.
From the living room you overlook the courtyard with an old cistern.
The holiday home has a cosy living/dining room with ample seating, wood-burning stove and a TV with a DVD player. The TV is equipped with a Chromecast. This allows you to watch Dutch programmes via your phone or tablet, as well as streaming services such as Netflix (with your own subscription). Use of the wifi is free.
The open kitchen is equipped with a 4-ring ceramic hob, large fridge with separate freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave and oven, among other things. There is also a barbecue.
There are various (board) games for young and old. The shuffleboard is much used!
Upstairs are 2 bedrooms, both with their own bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. The rooms each have a double and a single bed.
High chair and cot are available.
Upon arrival, the beds are made!
The sunny swimming pool (mid- and high season) offers lots of swimming fun for young and old. For both swimming laps and cooling off in the summer months, it is a perfect place to spend time. The spacious terrace around the pool is equipped with teak deckchairs and parasols. We too swim a few lengths now and then.
Opposite La Sainte, by the lake (the Plan d'eau) is the cosy open-air restaurant Le Plan d'O, which is open daily from mid-June to mid-September, except on Wednesdays.
In the centre of the village, opposite the church, you will find Bar Chez Tatou (open from November to May), where you can also enjoy a delicious meal. There is also a wide choice of good restaurants in the immediate vicinity. We will be very happy to inform you about this.
At the small cosy supermarket Au Panier Villageois in the village you can go for all sorts of things. They have a wide range of delicious cheeses and wines as well as local regional products. Postcards, stamps and the newspaper are also available here.
From 2024, we will have a charging point which can be used to charge your electric car at night. More information will follow.

La Sainte is the name of town where holiday home La Sentinelle can be found. It is located against the village of Frayssinet-le-Gélat in the south of the beautiful wooded nature reserve 'La Bouriane'.
It lies on the border of the departments Lot and Dordogne.
The village, which is within walking distance, has a medieval church. There is the traditional bakery Au Soleil d'Oc which you can already see from La Sainte (the best in the region).
Opposite La Sainte, by the lake (the plan d'eau) is the cosy open-air restaurant Le Plan d'O, which is open daily in summer. (approx. mid-June-mid-September)

Wij hadden met onze dochter een heerlijk verblijf in La Sentinelle. Allereerst door de hartelijkheid van Gabina en Albert, en niet te vergeten de 'gezelligheidshond' Beau. In huis is aan alles gedacht. Het is er lekker ruim en koel. En het zwembad is geweldig. Een ware traktatie voor onze dochter.
De Lot vonden wij rustig en relaxed. Als je een uurtje wil rijden zijn er ruime mogelijkheden voor iets leuks. Zoals Cahors, de rivier de Lot, een boottochtje, midgetgolf of de vele markten. De Dordogne geeft nog meer toeristische mogelijkheden. Kano of een bezoek aan een prachtige tuin of kasteel. Op 10 minuten van Frayssinet is het Zadkine museum. Klein, maar zeker interessant, met voor ons onbekende werken. Plus een interessante wandeling naar kerkje en moeras.

Restaurants, food & wine
The gastronomy is delectable: le foie gras, le magret de canard, les gésiers, le fromage de cabécou fermier, le gâteau aux noix to name but a few.
The open-air restaurant at the plan d'eau, opposite La Sainte, serves Moules-Frites every Friday evening in summer. Delicious food and very convivial, highly recommended!
There are several good restaurants in Frayssinet-le-Gélat and the immediate surroundings.
Les Vins should not be forgotten, of course! The 'Vin Noir', the Cahors wine, is the pride of the Lot. West of Cahors in the Lot valley, the full-bodied red wine is produced with love and care.
Wine tasting is available at the many wineries in the area.
Activities
There are plenty of pretty towns and villages in the immediate vicinity, each often with its own French market. A good example is Cazals, a charming village with its cosy French market with many regional products every Sunday morning. Grab a terrace and stroll around the market, that's holiday!
Here you will also find the Musée de Vieilles Mécaniques with a variety of old (agricultural) vehicles.
The surrounding countryside is very varied, from woods and vast rolling meadows to beautiful vineyards, and is ideal for cycling and walking. The well-known pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella, the GR652, runs through the village.
The vineyards offer many opportunities to taste and buy wine. The Cahors wine is highly recommended for gourmets.
Canoeing is possible on the Lot and Dordogne rivers which are a short distance away. You can swim in the rivers and in the many recreational lakes opposite La Sainte and in the surrounding area and you can fish (fishing licence obligatory).
Within a radius of 50 km you will find well-known and interesting places: a.o. Cahors, Sarlat, Rocamadour, Saint-Cirq Lapopie and Domme.
Well-known castles in the region are: Château de Bonaguil , Chateaux of Milandes (by Josephine Baker), Castelnau and Beynac et Cazenac.
Several caves can be visited in the area, such as Gouffre de Padirac, caves with an underground river.
Those who love art can visit Musée Zadkine in Les Arques.
And if you want to visit a really big city for shopping or culture, Toulouse is a must.

Changeover day is Saturday in high season. In the early and late season a different arrival day is possible in consultation.
When booking for 2 persons, an adjusted price applies in the pre/high season (1 bedroom with bathroom available).
You are welcome from 16.00 on the day of arrival.
On the day of departure, we ask you to leave the holiday home by 9.30 a.m. at the latest.
Linen is included. Pool towels are not available.
Excluding final cleaning (€ 75.00) and tourist tax (€ 1.00 per person per night).
Rates low season (November-April) on request.
For parties of 6-8 persons, an extra double bedroom with private bathroom can be rented in the Manoir. This room is adjacent to the courtyard and has its own entrance.
