The house

  • Quiet, rural area with some agricultural activity

Welcome to Domaine Labastide, a large farm dating back to 1823, made up of beautifully-restored stone buildings where authenticity and charm add to the quality of the accommodation.

We are based in a hamlet of 3 houses in the heart of a magnificent rural idyll between Périgord and Quercy within easy reach of a host of sightseeing attractions.

The property includes a superb tower with a pigeon loft, a converted stable, a rustic hen house and a completely renovated barn set around a pretty, communal courtyard.

Gite Le Poulailler

A spacious and uniquely characterful cottage, this old hen house has been renovated but has kept its rustic charm.
The cottage can accommodate a family of four in comfort (60m2). A sensation of space comes across with a combined living and bedroom centred around a traditional wood-burning stove. The cottage also has a well-equipped kitchen and a modern bathroom. There is a children’s room (with single beds or bunk beds) and there is a double bed in the main part of the house.

Outside you can take advantage of the flower-filled garden around the swimming pool and enjoy the lovely countryside views. In front of your cottage you will find your own private terrace with a barbecue which leads onto the courtyard of the property and has a lovely view of the magnificent pigeon loft.
(central heating is available in this cottage)

The property is located near a quaint village, Frayssinet-Le-Gelat (about 2 miles away), where you will find a bakery, a small supermarket, as well as two typical French restaurants. There is also an art gallery, an historic church and a lake where you can spend some family time in and around the water.

Restaurants, food & wine

The hamlet of Labastide benefits from a great location with beautiful natural scenery and many pretty villages nearby reputed for their gourmet food markets. There are a host of activities to satisfy every visitor with cultural tours, sporting activities or even gastronomic discoveries.

For food lovers, a night-time local produce market takes place every Thursday in Loubejac where you fill your plate from the various stalls and eat at tables on the village green.

There are many fine restaurants and we are always happy to recommend somewhere whether it be fine dining at a Michelin-starred establishment or something more down-to-earth.

The Cahors vineyards are also well worth a visit producing an unmistakeable dark, red wine that goes very well with the local produce.

Food lovers will be spoilt for choice with the produce in this beautiful region: foie gras, cepes mushrooms, truffles, chestnuts and the famous lamb, nuts and melon from Quercy.

There is a booklet of information in the gite to help you find exactly what you are looking for and we are always on hand to help with booking or translations if you are unsure of anything in French.
