The house
Les Arts du Bout is a former winery dating from 1660. Original attributes still remain in the cellars. The outbuildings have been transformed into cosy comfortable gites, or cottages, (‘gîte’ being the French word for a ‘rural holiday rental’). The whole is very quietly located on a property of 6 ha at the top of a hill.
GITE "BELLE-VUE"
This is an old barn of 80m2 that has been renovated into a spacious, comfortable gîte. From the covered terrace you walk into the cozy living room with open kitchen including a gas hob, fridge, combination-microwave and washing machine.

Dogs can be allowed in this gite but please discuss this with us first.
The infinity pool is equipped with an alarm activated when the swimming pool is closed, but is not equipped with a fence. The owner can not be held responsible should there be an accident. Hence, we prefer that all residents at Les Arts du Bout can swim.

The property is set back in a small, quiet hamlet, near the lovely village of Les Arques in the heart of the Cahors wine region, close to both the Dordogne and the Lot rivers, and ideally situated for exploring the numerous attractions in the area. The gardens and heated swimming pool enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Quercy countryside.

We had a lovely stay in the domaine of Guibert and Sofia,
Our first week was very hot, but the old house has very thick walls and that prevents the heat from coming in. The swimming pool is a perfect place to relax and cool down.
Guibert and Sofia were very helpful with ideas and suggestions for things to visit or to do, especially with kids that are not always interested in history..
The Lot is really a relaxing and interesting department for exploring food, history, grottoes and more. I would definitely recommend this place for the owners, the location and the place (centrally in the Lot department).Comment from Guibert Romain

Restaurants, food & wine
The main culinary specialities are duck, foie gras, plums, prunes, mushrooms, walnuts and truffles. And of course a nice rich wine to go with it. Another good choice is goat’s cheese, often served grilled (chevre chaud) with a salad. You could also try the local aperitif wine, made from walnuts. These specialties, and much more, are served at the numerous "auberges" and restaurants around the area, including a "Two Star Michelin" restaurant a few minutes from Le Bout.
There are also wineries and castles, where you can taste the best wines of the Cahors region.

Further remarks
The region contains many underground caves and open caverns to visit and pre-historic caves are situated all over the area, notably the famous site at Lascaux.
The famous "Gouffre de Padirac", an enormous chasm about 99 metres around the rim, offers eerie boat trips along a subterranean stream, passing through various underground caverns...
In the artists’ village of Les Arques, 5 minutes from our property, you will find the Zadkine museum, art galleries, as well as artists’ studios.
The Lot is from a tourist point of view a well guarded secret. Here you will find places that are even more impressive than in the Dordogne, unspoiled and not yet discovered by the general public. This area of France has a varied landscape with rivers, vineyards, sunflower fields, plum & walnut orchards, hills and valleys with wild nature …
