The house
La maison du Cerf ( the house of the deer) located in the heart of France is a charming chambre d'hôtes located in a sturdy old farmhouse surrounded by a beautiful 2-hectare garden.
We have 5 guest rooms equipped with all modern comforts, all with private bathrooms. 3 rooms are family rooms where you can stay with 3 or 4 people.
La maison du Cerf has a small structure, we receive a maximum of 15 people, so you have all the space you need to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Our spacious house originally has a sturdy and authentic character, but is playfully and colourfully decorated, giving it a very unique feel.
We like to pay personal attention to our guests; we are happy to tell you about the area and which trips you can make. Only if you want to, of course; we respect it if you prefer to make your own plans.
There is a lot to do in the area, but if you just want to relax, enjoy good food and do nothing at all, then you're in the right place too. We have a library where you can select a book or magazine to read in a lazy chair or in a hammock under the fruit trees. Can you imagine it?
In front of our house is a beautiful 2-hectare tree garden where you can relax. You will often be joined by our chickens and our friendly dog. In the house, we have several public areas especially for you: the library, the living room and a large lounge/games room. So you don't have to stay in your room if you don't want to go out for once. Our swimming pond will be ready by the end of April.
Our house is your house , we like you to feel at home here.
Information on the rooms:
2 2-bed rooms and 3 spacious 3-bed rooms. Placing an extra bed is possible.
There is 1 room on the ground floor which is also suitable for guests with limited mobility.
The rooms are attractively and creatively furnished with high-quality boxsprings (1.60 x 2.00 with lit jumeaux duvets). You will definitely enjoy lying here!
Each room has its own bathroom with washbasin, shower and toilet.
Each room has a seat.
3 rooms have a separate entrance.
We have ample parking on our own premises.
Almost every evening we serve table d'hôtes. A 3-course menu with coffee or tea.

LA MAISON DU CERF lies 720 km from Breda, 3 hours below Paris exactly between the 2 motorways A20 and A71.
The most famous cities in the neighbourhood are BOURGES, CHATEAUROUX and MONTLUCON.
The region is called LE BERRY, a beautiful green region where you can have a great holiday.
Although it is quiet, it is also very lively and there is a lot to do for all ages.
The region is characterised by a variety of woods, farmland, gently sloping but with occasional surprising height differences.
There is no industry so you will find the cleanest air in France!
Urciers lies just below the beautiful town LA CHÂTRE, a pleasant town with many restaurants, shops and terraces.
Our house is situated along a quiet road at the end of the village, silence guaranteed!
At 8 kilometres from our house is SAINTE SEVERE SUR INDRE, the village where the film Jour de fêtes by JACQUES TATI was recorded.
The house of the famous French writer GEORGE SAND, the lover of CHOPIN for many years, is 15 minutes away.

De kamers zijn onwijs schoon en fijn! Het is een mooie authentieke plek, zeker aan te raden met honden. De ruime omheinde tuin is prachtig en heerlijk om in te zitten. Peter en Jolanda zijn heel vriendelijk en kunnen geweldig koken! 😁

Een heerlijke en mooie chambre d'hotes in een verrassend leuke omgeving!
Onze kamer Beaumerle was erg ruim, comfortabel en lekker koel tijdens de warme dagen. Het huis (voormalige boerderij) is erg sfeervol ingericht en is van alle gemakken voorzien. Daarnaast heeft het een schitterende grote tuin met goede zon- en schaduwplaatsen én privacy voor iedereen die dat wil.
Aan de eettafel buiten hebben wij vele gezellige uurtjes door gebracht mn. tijdens het avondeten. Het avondeten (3 gangen!) is overigens zeer goed en afwisselend.
De omgeving bied veel mogelijkheden voor allerlei activiteiten zowel vlakbij Urciers als wat verder weg. De gastvrijheid van Jolanda en Peter is TOP! De huis-hond Benz (onze favoriet), een lieve Friese Stabij, is steeds gezellig aanwezig op het erf.Johan en Thea from Heerlen,
Voor de derde keer bezochten we de heerlijke B&B van Lucia en Anthony. Het voelde als thuiskomen. Grote ruime gratis parkeerplek. De hartelijke ontvangst, grote tuin, gezellige zitjes en de grote tafel buiten: alles was zoals we van Lucia en Anthony kenden tiptop verzorgd. Gezellig bijpraten bij een drankje. Anthony: je Nederlands gaat met sprongen vooruit! Chapeau. De wifi-verbinding is zeer goed. De kamer met het uitstekende bed was nog even sfeervol als we hem kenden. We hebben heerlijk geslapen met alleen het geluid van de krekels en de uilen. En dat uitgebreide ontbijt...….. en die heerlijke koffie...…..We zijn van plan nog het "Franse pad" te komen lopen of fietsen (www.hetfransepad.com). Mooi arrangement. En jullie blijven ons vaste adres voor onze reizen verder naar het zuiden. Dank voor alles. Het was weer super!
Restaurants, food & wine
Almost every day there is a farmers' market with fresh local produce.
We cook almost every day with fresh products and as much as possible organic. We only use 100% organic free-range meat!
With the menu, we have a wine list consisting of various wines, including wines from Chateaumeillant, and we even have a delicious wine from our village Urciers.
The surrounding area is full of nice restaurants, both traditional and culinary.
We are happy to tell you where you can eat well!
But you can also have a picnic while enjoying our delicious drinks.
We also have a beautiful guest kitchen where you can prepare a simple meal or a delicious lunch on the days that we do not cook.
Chateaumeillant has several wineries, where you can taste, 5 minutes away.
Reuilly has very good wines, 45 minutes away.
And if you go to Reuilly, you can drive to Sancerre, where the famous white wine comes from, among others.
Activities
There is so much to do in LE BERRY that you can easily fill a holiday. But of course you are also very welcome for a long weekend or to rest on your way to the south. La maison du cerf is situated 720 km from Breda, 3 hours from Paris and exactly between the 2 motorways: A20 and A71.
What is there to do?
There are many castles, monasteries, museums, beautiful gardens, historic towns and idyllic villages with old churches to view.
Every weekend there are brocante and vide grenier markets.
Because it is our great hobby, we have our own brocante shop on our property where you can browse without obligation.
Almost every day of the week there is a farmer's market with delicious local products.
For bird spotters it is a true paradise in nature reserve the Brenne.
Also the sports enthusiasts come here to their senses, WALKERS and BIKE LOVERS come here to their senses, hiking and cycling routes start directly from our house, including the Vezelay route of ST JACQUES DE COMPOSTELLE, it runs directly past the house. We are also affiliated with The French Path and organise walking and cycling routes in our beautiful countryside with a number of nice colleagues. Everything is taken care of; food, luggage transport, bicycle and walking routes. All you have to do is enjoy the nature and the silence!
In the immediate vicinity are several large golf courses including 18 hole course LES DRIJADES.
There are 3 (dam) lakes with beaches where water sports can be enjoyed, including nautical skiing and survival trails.
The wolves of Chabrières are fascinating and the largest outdoor labyrinth in Europe is great fun for young and old.
Bourges is the capital of Le Berry, a lovely city with many attractions.
With us on the terrain, tranquillity prevails. Read, drink wine, play games, rest from the worries of the year.
We have deckchairs and hammocks at your disposal and three public areas where you can stay when you don't want to go out.

Each additional person in the room costs 25 euros including breakfast.
The price of the room includes an extensive breakfast. In the months of May till September we are obliged to charge tourist tax: 1,50 pp per night, persons older than 12 years.
