Au Petit Paradis
We were instantly in love! We were looking for a place where we could really make our dream come true, that is, to start a Chambre d'hotes in France and preferably in Normandy.
At the end of our country road, surrounded by greenery, stands our dream.
The house was built in 1840 and is surrounded by a large garden with, how could it be otherwise in Normandy, an apple orchard. In this garden is a barn, built entirely in Norman style of flint. In this barn, we are building a house for ourselves.
We received the key in September 2019. We immediately started to work hard!
On the ground floor we have realized two spacious bedrooms and on the first floor two more. The rooms on the first floor are so big that we have made two family rooms of one for 4 persons and the other for 3 persons. All rooms have a new luxury bathroom.
The rooms are luxuriously furnished and all have a new, lovely king-size bed and a private sitting area. There is a large cosy communal dining room and the new kitchen is equipped with all conceivable conveniences, with French windows opening onto a terrace. There, when the weather is nice, the extensive breakfast that we serve every morning can also be served. All this is done in consultation with our guests. We want to distinguish ourselves by our hospitality. In the immediate vicinity are several nice restaurants.

Surroundings

The surroundings are really fantastic; we ourselves discover time and again how beautiful this part of Normandy is.
The landscape varies from forests to meadows and rolling hills with old, typical Norman villages along the way.
There are many castles and abbeys in the immediate vicinity. The history goes back to the 5th century of the knights of the round table, so much history has been preserved.
Via a beautiful tourist route, you can reach the Normandy coast within an hour. Where we, the Dutch, know Normandy from, the landing beaches of D-Day. But there is much more to discover.
The villages Camembert and Livarot are there for the cheese lovers.
Le Mans for car lovers.
Pegasus Bridge for the real Second World War interested.
Parc Naturel du Perche, for nature and peace lovers.
Haras national du Pin for horse lovers.
In Normandy, the horse is king! The large number of breeding centres, racecourses and stud farms shows how important this noble animal is in Normandy.
The region is also known for its great weekly markets. Every day, there is a market somewhere. On Tuesdays, you have to get up early to go to the liveliest and biggest farmers' market of France at only 14 kilometres in L'Aigle. You should definitely visit L'Aigle before you leave the region. In this town you will find several large supermarkets including Le Clerc and cozy terraces and nice shops. There is even a disco!
In the immediate vicinity are also many flea markets and antique markets organized. There are also many brocante shops to visit.
Also worth seeing is the Oëtre rock, which is located in the recreational area Suisse Normandie. In this recreation area, you can go kayaking, canoeing and for the real sporty among us, even rock climbing. If you prefer to stay with both feet on the ground, there are also a number of beautiful walking routes.
From au Petit Paradis you don't need to take the car to go for a walk, because you can walk to a large, beautiful forest and if you are staying with us in the autumn, you will certainly come home with edible mushrooms you found yourself.

Ontbijt was top
Alles schoon en netjes.Bianca bakker from Alphen aan den rijn,
Hartelijk ontvangst met een glaasje rosé en biertje. Mooie ruime kamer met mega bed. Er was een restaurant voor ons gereserveerd waar we heerlijk hebben gegeten. S avonds een prachtige sterrenwacht op ons terras. S ochtends een royaal ontbijt met eigen gemaakte bramenjam. We hebben ons hier heel welkom gevoeld. Niets was te veel gevraagd. Wij gaan zeker nog eens terug.

We verwachten niets anders. We hebben van juliie genoten. Heerlijk dit is de reden dat wij een chambré d hôtes zijn begonnen. Mensen laten meegenieten van ons kleine paradijs
Restaurants, food & wine
Unfortunately, Normandy is not a wine region, you have to travel further for that. But do not regret it, for we have cider and calvados here.
The delicious soft cheeses such as Camembert, Pont L'Evèque and the Livarot come from this region.
Mortagne au Perche (23 km) is known for its traditional blood sausage, the Boudin noir et blanc. In the village are several butchers who sell this speciality.

At 600 kilometres from Utrecht, perfect for your first overnight stay. Start your holiday in a relaxed way, only 12 kilometres from the A28 direction Bordeaux.
If you travel via Paris to Brittany, we are close to the only through road Paris, Brittany.
But also a wonderful place to get away from it all, enjoy the peace and quiet and the space.
A nice getaway together, or with the family or a group of friends. We will welcome you enthusiastically.
