The house
Holiday home La Poire is an authentic French village house. Belonging to the parsonage yard, this was the former home of the parish maid. After a thorough makeover in 2021, this house has become a cosy and atmospheric holiday home. All facilities are present for a stay of 4 guests. The interior is comfortable with a sitting room, dining kitchen, 1 double bedroom on the ground floor and 2 bedrooms with bath on the first floor.

Holiday home La Poire is located at the yard of mini camping Sous les Cloches, which literally means "under the bells".
The yard contains a presbytery from about 1802 (the home of your host and hostess), mini campsite, holiday home La Poire, holiday home Le Pigeonnier (the dovecote), reception / recreation room / workshop, infra red sauna, washroom, jacuzzi, heated above ground pool, vegetable garden and private storage and stables.
The yard with adjoining church is located on the outskirts of the village Terjat in the heart of France. If you come from the north, follow the A71 until exit Montlucon and then you will be at your destination after about 25 km on excellent inner roads. The distance from Utrecht is about 850 km. and easy to drive in one day.

Het is alleen maar genieten bij Sous les Cloches; voor een gezin met 2 jonge kinderen (3 en 1) is het echt zeldzaam om als ouders op je lauweren te kunnen rusten, maar dat kon hier dus wel. Heel fijn dat alles is omheind, en dat er super veel voor ze te doen is (zandbak, speelhuis, fietsjes - onze oudste heeft zelfs leren fietsen hier! - en peuterbadje speciaal voor ons opgezet) en ook in het huisje is er overal aan gedacht. Het huisje zelf is comfortabel en lekker Frans, met allemaal brocante-spulletjes. Door de luiken ook van de hitte weinig last! Omgeving is vrij rustig met leuke opties voor uitstapjes, geen mega-avonturen; het is dan ook niet zo toeristisch. Voor ons was dat op dit moment perfect. Tot slot is het super fijn dat Mathieu en Leonie er alles aan doen om het hun gasten naar de zin te maken. Echt een dikke aanrader dus.

We hebben 2 heerlijke weken gehad met ons gezin in het huis la Poire!
Het terrein was perfect geschikt voor onze kinderen van 5, 3 en 1 jaar. Alles was er wat ze nodig hadden: Speelhuisje, schommel, zandbak, fietsjes. En niet te vergeten het zwembad. Kindvriendelijk terrein, zonder zorgen konden ze heerlijk spelen. Kinderen op de camping zochten elkaar automatisch op en dat was gezellig.
Mooi huis in Franse stijl waarin alles aanwezig is. Alle faciliteiten voor kinderen, zelfs aan een traphekje is gedacht. Het 2 persoonsbed vonden wij persoonlijk wat hard, maar smaken verschillen ;-)
Leuke activiteiten in de omgeving, we hebben vooral veel kleine uitjes gedaan naar bijv brug, stuwdam, gorges, een dorpje, markt, enz.
En verder doen Mathieu en Leonie hun best om iedereen een fijne vakantie te geven, ze zijn erg hartelijk.

Een klein paradijsje voor kleine kinderen. Het terrein en alle mogelijke gevaarlijke plekker zijn afgezet zodat kinderen veilig kunnen spelen en ouders ook vakantie hebben. Een fijn huisje, van alle gemakken voorzien. Mathieu en Leonie doen er alles aan om het je naar de zin te maken.

The area around Terjat is not exactly a wine region, but that does not mean that you cannot enjoy the most delicious French wines, which are also available at very affordable prices in the local supermarkets.
In the towns Commentry, Neris les Bains and Montlucon, all at a stone's throw away, you can find excellent restaurants.
Activities
Holiday home La Poire is located in Terjat ( Auvergne ) at an altitude of about 550 metres on the edge of the Massif Central. From the house you have beautiful views of the Allier, Puy de Dome and the Creuse. An ideal base from which to explore the beautiful surroundings on foot, by bike or by car. Authentic French villages and towns in the immediate vicinity. The spa resorts of Neris les Bains, Vichy and Évaux-les-Bains are nearby. A little further away Clermont-Ferrand at the foot of the Puy de Dome with its spectucal volcanic terrain. In the yard of Sous les Cloches, guests can use the swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi or recreation room. Host Mathieu and hostess Leonie will do everything to make you feel comfortable and will be happy to show you the way around this beautiful area, in the heart of France.
The neighbouring medieval church of Saint Martin and the many brocante markets in the area are definitely worth a visit. Walk, cycle, relax or visit the historic towns of Montlucon, Pionsat or Commentry, all about 15 km away.

There are various walking routes directly from Terjat, or take the bike. The surroundings have various castles and places of interest. And if you have a day you don't want to go out, then Sous les Cloches has all kinds of relaxation to offer. Relax in the jacuzzi, unwind in the sauna, enjoy the swimming pool or develop your artistic talents in the recreation/atelier area. Your host Mathieu and hostess Leonie will be happy to tell you all about the history of the location, the presbytery, the church and the surroundings.
