The house
The hamlet of Le Soleil is at the end of the road. From the veranda of Grand Soleil you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Auvergne hills together. The ground floor of Grand Soleil consists of a spacious, cosy living room with an open kitchen, a large dining table and a sitting area by the cosy wood-burning stove. A TV, DVD player and stereo system are available here. On the first floor you will find a spacious bedroom with double bed, sitting area and baby cot. Adjacent is the children's room with single bed and a second baby cot. Grand Soleil has an additional bedroom with double bed. A bathroom with shower and separate toilet can be found in the hallway. There is also a washing machine. Grand Soleil has a large garden.
Besides renting out Grand Soleil, I also organise donkey rides from our donkey farm 'Huisjeboompjeezeltje'. It is possible to make a nice hike from Grand Soleil on a day basis, accompanied by one of my donkeys.
A donkey ride is an adventurous way to explore the surroundings and have an unforgettable walk. Anyone can go hiking with our donkeys and children will enjoy hiking even more in the company of a donkey. A swimming lake ideal for children with a small beach is 7 km away.

Wij hebben een fijn week gehad in Le grand Soleil. Mooie, rustige omgeving, fijn huisje met geschiedenis, mooi terras met uitzicht dat iedere dag weer anders is, en gezellig dat er regelmatig ezeltjes langs kwamen of ergens staan te grazen. Bovendien is gastheer Robert heel gastvrij, behulpzaam als er iets is, en hij voorzag ons van informatie over de mogelijkheden in de omgeving. Kortom, een goed adres!! veel dank voor alles

In the world of wine, the A.O.C. Côtes d'Auvergne is considered to be part of the Loire vineyards in the Auvergne region of western France. In reality, however, the Côte d'Auvergne is much closer to the south of the Bourgogne region and the Rhône valley. In 1951, it obtained the V.D.Q.S status and in 2011, this area was promoted to A.O.C.
As for small restaurants/auberges, we can recommend plenty of them. Furthermore, Brioude has a nice local market on Saturday where a nice collection of food is offered.
A beautiful wine region at a reasonable distance is Boudes various caves and tastings.
The production area 460 ha of vineyards of which 410 ha planted and stretches over 3 arrondisments between the Puys and the river Allier. These 3 arrondisements comprise a total of 54 municipalities:

By far the smallest of the 5 subappellations with barely 6 ha of vineyards due to the many suburbs of Clermont-Ferrand, which is the largest city in this area. The soil structure consists of a complex mix of limestone, marl and granite

This sub-region comprises 65 ha of vineyards and produces mainly red and rosé wines. Corent comprises the municipalities of Les Martres-de-Veyre, Veyre-Monton, Corent and La Sauvetat.

In the surroundings of Le Soleil you can make beautiful walks, relax, make a fire, watch the stars, swim, canoe, cycle, ski, visit an old town or make a donkey tour with one of our donkeys! Le Soleil is situated at 850 m altitude in the Auvergne, 1000 km from Utrecht. The Auvergne is an authentic part of France, characterised by tranquillity and space. French farmers cultivate their fields between the virgin forests, wild rivers, windy plateaus and green hills formed by volcanoes. Le Soleil is located in the Forez Livradois. One of the largest nature reserves in France. From Le Soleil you can make beautiful walks. For culture lovers, there are numerous castles and old villages with Romanesque churches to visit where on Saturdays market vendors sell their wares.

Further remarks
It is very quiet and in the middle of nature. A birdwatcher once recorded 66 different species. The complete list is included with the photos. There is also a lot of wildlife in the area. The surroundings are very varied; meadows, woods and streams in the immediate vicinity. The highest peak is at 1200 metres, so it is a low mountain range. Both houses are equipped with the blue ign hiking maps.
