The house
Walnut Tree Gîte is a charming stone 4 bedroomed cottage built in 1900 and refurbished in 2019 to provide a holiday home retaining the original charm and character yet providing the modern comforts expected, set in peaceful gardens with it's own heated swimming pool. Located in the peaceful village of Kersulan, the ideal location to sit back and relax.
Walnut Tree Gîte offers a separate kitchen and dining room and upon arrival we provide you with a Welcome Pack
The kitchen has a focal point island for family and friends to gather around whilst preparing meals. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, and the essential dishwasher, attention to detail has been given to ensuring that the kitchen utensils are good quality and plentiful. Another feature of the kitchen is the lovely wood burner. In the kitchen you will also find tea, coffee, sugar, oils, spices, herbs, cleaning materials, tea towels, oven cloths.
The spacious dining room looks onto the front garden and down to the village, providing a beautiful setting to enjoy your meals, a large farm house table and chairs sits 6 comfortably.
The living room has a tranquil feel with windows and doors leading out to the front garden. It features a woodburner, three seater and two seater sofa's with two contrasting armchairs all located around the large coffee table in front of the wood burner.
There is UK satellite tv, french tv, dvd player, wireless speakers, books and films.
Stairs from the living room lead to the mezzanine bedroom with feature king size iron bed.
The main stairs lead from the kitchen to the spacious main bedroom with en-suite, two single bedrooms and a family bathroom.
In the main bedroom you will find a comfortable king size bed, with an en-suite which comprises of a bath with over head shower, vanity unit and wc.
All the bed linen and towels are luxury hotel quality giving you that relaxing nights sleep. We also include pool towels.
A corridor from the kitchen leads to the back door with access to the garden, a separate w.c and laundry room with washing machine.
Outside you will find the private garden with heated swimming pool. The swimming pool was totally renovated on 2021 (3.5m x 6m and is 1.5m deep) , you will find the crystal waters to be a glorious 26 degrees, and for those families with children, the peace of mind that the pool is fully enclosed. The peaceful landscaped gardens look out onto open countryside, you will find a delightful al fresco dining area with gas bbq which overlooks the pool or you can sit and read a book in the landscaped garden ruin. The garden really does offer the perfect surroundings to just sit back, relax and enjoy life.
There is room for two cars at the front of the property.
We expect the Gite to be left clean and tidy on departure, we do offer a Pack and Go service for 50€ (payable on arrival)
We are pet friendly, and welcome dogs at a charge of 40€ per week. (payable on arrival)

The Morbihan region is a very varied department of France, offering prehistoric monuments, historical towns, beautiful estuaries and the River Blavet. It boasts beautiful sandy beaches and islands along the coast and around the Gulf of Morbihan, and as Brittany's most southern department offers the best summer holiday weather and sea temperatures.
Walnut Tree Gîte is situated in the sleepy village of Kersulan, surrounded by rolling woodlands, which offers so many walks and hikes (many maps are available for you to use), seeing nature at its very best, look out for the wild deer on the roads leading to the village.
We are located in an ideal central spot for sight seeing whether that is enjoying the river, lakes, historical towns or visiting the nearest beach, just 40 minutes away, or maybe take a day trip to one of the many Morbihan islands.
The nearest large town is Pontivy, just 10 minutes away offering a good choice of supermarkets and a local market on a monday. The nearest Boulangerie is 5 minutes in the car.

We have just come back from the most fantastic week in Brittany at the Walnut Tree Gîte! Tina and Graeme were absolutely exceptional hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay perfect - nothing was too much trouble.
It was our first trip abroad with our 6 month old daughter and it really was memorable for so many positive reasons. She absolutely loved exploring the beautiful gardens, meeting the friendly chickens and splashing in the pool!
The gîte was very well equipped with everything we could need, it was great for a holiday with little ones as they provided a travel cot and bedding/towels, high chair, stair gates, baby bath etc... Tina and Graeme really have thought of everything!
We were lucky enough to have a week of fantastic weather and made the most of it exploring the surrounding area and then coming back for a dip in the pool each day. The book of recommendations provided was top notch and hints and tips provided by Tina and Graeme were gratefully received... we had some delicious meals out, visited beautiful medieval towns and got some good trail running routes in too!
We can't wait to go back and visit the Walnut Tree Gîte again, hopefully we will bring our pup next time!Comment from Tina Lauchlan

We were here in August 2023 for our holiday. Our stay here was fabulous. Gramae and Tina are fabulous hosts who have thought of everything. The welcome package on arrival of the beautiful flowers,fresh bread and butter. Local condimemts and the welcomed wine. Being next door was reassuring and your hospitality is superb. We enjoyed exploring the beautiful sights Brittany had to offer and then come back to the beautiful gite thas has all of the creature comforts and much more.
The decor and furnishings are tastefully chosen and you feel really relaxed at Walnut tree gite. One of the biggest highlights was the heated pool which we all benefited from. The garden is beautiful and such a relaxing place to sit and read too.
Cannot recommend Walnut Tree Gite enough. We look forward to visiting again in 2025.

Well, whatcan I say, except WOW,WOW,WOW, on every level. From meeting our hosts, to walking into & exploring the property. Luxury at it's best, from the fully equipt kitchen, to the exceptional quality of the towels & bed linen. A very cosy, comfortable lounge with TV, freesat ( so English TV available), dvd player, selection of dvd's and a toy chest full of family games. Beautifully appointed dining room, complete with " emergency" wine supply. Great touch. The 2 double bedrooms, ( 1 ensuite), offer that touch of 5 star luxury and the 2 single bedrooms are perfect for kids/teens. There is even a shelf of books on the landing you can loose yourself in. There's a downstairs cloakroom & utility room. Absolutely everything has been thought of. Outside continues that touch of luxury and relaxation. Secluded seating areas, great for reading. A patio area just right for outdoor entertaining, complete with gas BBQ. Then there's the fabulous, exceptionally well maintained, heated pool......my grandkids would have happily lived in there 🤣. Recliners are provided in the pool area and seperate pool towels are provided too. At the front of the Gite is an open barn that houses a full size table tennis table, badminton set, skipping ropes, hoola hoops, bowls and a dart board. Along with the pool, the Gite provides a wealth of activities for all the family. For the gardeners amounsgt us, the gardens are beautifully laid out with a wealth of flowers and plants, expertly chosen and tended. I really can't recommend this Gite enough. Can't wait to go back. Your hosts can also recommend places and restaurants worth visiting. Thanks to them, we visited some beautiful places and had some amazing meals out. Thank you Tina and Graeme for ensuring our holiday was perfect. See you again soon

Restaurants, food & wine
You will find an array of restaurants and Creperies on offer in the surrounding area, all offering wonderful menus supporting local Brittany produce.
There are many restaurants in the nearby towns of Pontivy, Baud, Hennebont offering a variety of different eateries for different tastes and budgets.
We do provide recommendations from ourselves and previous guests in the gîte information guide and we are always happy to help with reservations if required.
Activities
Walnut Tree Gîte is ideally situated to visit the many attractions and activities that Brittany and Morbihan has to offer.
Just 5 minutes from the river Blavet with the many activities of kayaking/canoeing, bike hire, boat excursions. A golf course located 4km away, horse riding 1 km away and being surrounded by rural countryside so many treks and hikes. Lakes nearby with activities for all the family.
So many historical towns nearby with Pontivy just 10 minutes away and nearest beaches 40 minutes
