The house
In the semi-detached house Gite marin, our holiday home on our organic farm in Southern Brittany (label gite de france 3 épis) you will find an open kitchen with dishwasher, oven, refrigerator and microwave oven, spacious lounge, TV, dining room, wc, bathroom with washing machine, iron and ironing board. Upstairs, 2 bedrooms with 1x2prs bed (160x200) and 3x1prs bed (90x190), spacious shower and separate wc. Outside is a south-facing terrace with barbecue, garden furniture, enclosed garden and a shed. A shared garden (with a neighbouring gite) with swing, slide, sandpit, boules and volleyball net. You can also find our goat Fiesta there!

Ons verblijf september 2023 in Maison du Four in Penestin was heerlijk.
Vanaf het eerste contact via de mail voelde je je al welkom.
Het verblijf op de biologische boerderij met de dieren en de verkoopmiddagen van groente hebben wij als bijzonder leuk ervaren. Wat betreft het huisje, we hebben nog nooit zo’n compleet uitgerust huisje gehad en waar je je ook meteen thuis voelde.
De locatie is uitstekend om vanuit daar de leuke dorpen en marktjes te ontdekken en ook het strand is dichtbij. Joe en Jacqueline bedankt, we hebben het heerlijk gehad bij jullie.

Hallo Marga en Cees, heel erg bedankt voor jullie mooie recensie. Daar worden wij helemaal blij van. Ik vond het ook heel gezellig met jullie. Ik heb weer lekker Nederlands kunnen kletsen. In juni 2019 verbleven wij 2 weken in de gite bij Joe en Jacqueline. Het waren 2 heerlijke weken. Wij hadden een ruime, complete gite met alles erop en eraan (incl. tuin). Onze gastvrouw en gastheer waren perfect. Een fijne bijkomstigheid is dat de gastvrouw Nederlandse is en dus Nederlands praat. Bijzondere charme van dit verblijf is bovendien, dat je bij een echte boerderij leeft. Penestin is een prima uitvalsbasis voor uitstapjes naar strand en andere plekken in Zuid Bretagne.

Één week verbleven wij er met 4 personen. We werden hartelijk ontvangen met een fles verse melk. Volledig ingerichte woning, van alle gemakken voorzien. 1 klein minpuntje; de bedden (matrassen) zijn aan de korte kant voor lange (Ned.) mensen. Het huis staat in een rustige omgeving met een grote tuin met allerlei mogelijkheden om je te vermaken. Jeux de boules baan en tafeltennistafel veel gebruikt. Je kunt veel bekijken/ ondernemen in dit stukje Frankrijk. Hoogtepunt voor ons was het mosselfeest in een nabijgelegen dorpje. En Jaqueline is ons zeer behulpzaam geweest toen we een probleempje met de auto hadden. Aanrader!

Dank U voor uw reactie, wij waren blij jullie te kunnen ontvangenen en helpen.
Het mosselfeest is in Tréhiguier, de vissershaven van ons dorp en wordt altijd de eerste week van augustus georganiseerd..Onze bedden zijn voor Franse begrippen normaal het 2 persoonsbed is 140x190 en de éénpersoonsbedden zijn 90x200. Inderdaad zijn Nederlanders wat langer dan de Fransen. We zullen proberen daar wat aan te gaan doen.
Restaurants, food & wine
Pénestin is famous for its mussels," Les moules du bouchot" de Pénestin.
Delicious with a glass of muscadet.Every year, a mussel festival is organised with breton music in the local port of tréhuiguier, at the end of July beginning of August! There are several restaurants in the village. These include L'armoricain, a culinary restaurant that takes organic vegetables from us, an ice cream parlour, la folie glacée, with delicious ice cream and a pizzeria with takeaway pizzas, it too takes organic vegetables from us. Brittany is famous for its crêpes (pancakes) and galettes (buckwheat pancakes), a glass of cider cannot be missed with these. Several creperies offer an extensive menu. You can also gather your own meal (mussels, oysters, crabs, etc).
Activities
We have an organic farm with dairy cows where you can come and watch the milking if you like.We chose to farm organically which two of our children wanted to continue with their partner. The dairy cows are now looked after by our son and daughter-in-law, and our daughter and son-in-law have started an organic vegetable garden, so you can also buy delicious vegetables from us on certain days. You will also find, on certain days at the vegetable shop, a local organic cheese maker (goats, sheep), an organic baker and the famous salt of guérande, honey from a local beekeeper, and even flowers. In the playing field, our little goat (Fiesta) is present. We also have horses! Our gite is 2.5 km from the sea. Pénestin with 25 km of coast, rock and sandy beaches (with the famous la mine d'Or) where you can sunbathe, swim, cycle and walk through the country, along the coast and the river La Vilaine.With the guide Brigitte of the association Mer et Nature you can be guided through the mussel parks. Every Sunday and Wednesday (in July and August) there is a large market in the village.There is a sailing/surfing school on the beach; le poudrantais, you can also go paragliding at la mine d'or and kitesurfing at la baie de Pont-Mahé!

The rental price does not include electricity costs > 56kw/week, possible cleaning costs 80€, sheet hire 10€/bed, tourist tax 0,50€/per person>13 years/per day.
A deposit of 300€ will be asked upon arrival.
