The house
Charm is the last/first house of the small hamlet of Les Granges. It is about 10 minutes from the huge Lac du Der Chantecoq and 5 minutes from all amenities. The house is a half-timbered house and completely renovated in 2015. The house has a beautiful veranda where it is lovely to settle down even in less weather. The garden is completely fenced and your dogs are welcome! The house is a former small farmhouse and is estimated to have been built before 1700. The Dutch owner lives about half an hour from your house and is happy to help. On the ground floor are the living room, a large bedroom, the kitchen, the bathroom with walk-in shower renovated in 2024 and a spacious dining room. Upstairs is a second toilet with large sink and are the other two bedrooms.

The house is situated at 10 (car) minutes distance from the large Lac du Der. This is a reservoir that was built around 1970 to regulate the water level in the river Marne. It is the largest artificial lake of Europe. The lake, which is about the same size as the Hoge Veluwe, is virtually dry from October to December and fills up again in the spring. Therefore, the bird diversity is enormous. The peak is in October and November. For example, 200,000 cranes fly in during bird migration. You will be impressed. A large number of these cranes stay until March. In the summer, there are beautiful beaches with clean bathing water. Beautiful cities in the area are Troyes, Verdun and Reims. Troyes has a very nice medieval centre where you can shop. Verdun is beautifully situated on the Meuse River, where you can also visit the battlefields of the First World War.

Prima huisje, alles wat je nodig hebt is er. Voor de honden fijn dat de tuin omheind is. In de omgeving genoeg mogelijkheden om te wandelen en te zwemmen samen met de honden.
Restaurants, food & wine
Your house is ideally situated to go on a champagne trip. The southern champagne houses and central champagne houses are about half an hour's drive from your house. You will feel very welcome by every winegrower. You don't have to be a connoisseur, because champagne is always of good quality and mainly depends on what you like. I would like to give you a short introduction to "champagnes" and introduce you to some wine growers. You will notice that, apart from the champagne, it is a wonderful area to drive through.
Also in the culinary field there is a lot to discover, whereby I do advise you to take a long bow around "Andouilette" if you see it on the menu. ;-)
Activities
From your house, it is excellent walking and cycling. At Lac du Der, you will find many activities, such as an exciting climbing forest and the beaches offer plenty of swimming and playing fun. The amusement park Nigloland is half an hour's drive away. There are many walking and cycling routes, but actually every road and path suffices. For nature lovers, there is much to discover. Near Troyes is a large outlet centre. The house, the garden and the surroundings are also a wonderful place for your dog(s).

Further remarks
Champagne has a mild climate, compare it to South Limburg. Snow never stays long.

Your pets are welcome, the cost is € 15 per dog per stay. A maximum of 3 dogs, but only max. 4 people.
