The house
This cosy holiday home is located in the quiet, typical French farming village of 'Autreville Saint Lambert'; situated just beyond the French border in the Champagne-Ardennes region.
You will stay here in a cosy, comfortable holiday home with an attractive interior full of charming details. The house is part of a large renovated farm with 2 other gites.
Layout:
Downstairs you will find a cosy open kitchen equipped with all comforts (cooker with 4 burners and oven, fridge, small freezer, dishwasher, microwave, nespresso machine), a comfortable sitting room with fireplace and a separate toilet.
Upstairs you will find two spacious bedrooms, a corridor and a nice bathroom with sink, toilet, and shower. The high-quality box-spring beds are equipped with down duvets.
In bedroom 1 you will find a double bed.
In bedroom 2 you will find two single beds.
A baby cot is also available.
There is WIFI, a smart TV with Netflix (no TV channels) and a DVD player with several DVDs.
Kitchen linen and (bath) towels are provided.
Bed linen can be provided if required.
Books and board games are available in the house.
There is heating throughout the house and a cosy wood-burning stove in the living room.
In front of the cottage there is a private terrace with dining table and barbecue.
You can park your car on the lawn in front of the house.

Autreville is surrounded by meadows and forests, ideal for wonderful, endless walks and bicycle rides. You are bound to meet a deer, fox, wild boar or one of the many birds of prey. Just a few minutes from the house, 'La Meuse' flows, where you can go swimming, picnicking or fishing in a beautiful green environment.
In the vicinity you will find several beautiful villages where weekly markets and folk brocantes take place. There are also numerous castle and abbey routes.
You will find several restaurants and supermarkets in the area, for example in Stenay and Mouzon. Discover this blissfully unspoilt part of France, close to Belgium and the Netherlands.

Van het ene platteland naar het andere platteland, maar dan wel met heuvels en dalen en geweldige luchten. Helaas was onze week de koudste en natste. Het verblijf in l'Autre Maison 11 bood bescherming tegen het slechte weer. Goed geoutilleerd voor de thuisblijver en thuiskoker. Met de ruim aanwezige sfeerverlichting en de brandende houtkachel (gratis hout) wordt al snel een knusse ambiance gecreëerd. Nabije en wijdere omgeving laten zich goed exploreren, in Frankrijk en België. Zelf kozen we voor een max. actieradius van 40 autominuten.

Zeer gezellig huisje met alle gemakken die je nodig hebt. En fijne kachel, rustige omgeving en details zoals genoeg handdoeken, kruiden en olijfolie gewoon aanwezig. Ook met kinderen is de ligging aan de weg heb problerm er komt vrijwel geen verkeer! De omliggende plaatsen zijn ook mooi, vooral Mouzon is een aanrader en in Stenay zijn alle winkels te vinden die je nodig hebt. Wij hebben het als erg prettig ervaren en raden het huisje zeker aan.

We hebben een fijne week gehad in dit schone huisje wat van alle gemakken voorzien is. De omgeving is landelijk en heerlijk rustig. Een goede uitvalsbasis voor het bezoeken van Verdun en veel andere leuke plaatsen in de omgeving. De Maas stroomt op een paar kilometer afstand door het naburige dorpje. Dit huisje is een echte aanrader voor rustzoekers die van cultuur en natuur houden.

Pouilly: possibility of fishing, picnicking, swimming... at/in the Meuse
Mouzon: twelfth-century town situated on the Meuse and well worth a visit. Apart from a city wall and a Gothic church, there is a felt museum. You will also find tennis courts and a heated outdoor swimming pool.
Douzy: lake with various swimming and water sports facilities, indoor-karting and bowling.
Stenay: beer museum, marina for pleasure boats, tourist office, restaurants, market on Friday mornings.
Florenville: tourist town just across the border in Belgium, every last Sunday of the month (except December, January, February and July) there is a big flea and brocant market.
Montmedy: fortified town with beautiful citadel.
Sedan: pleasant market every Wednesday and Saturday morning. You can visit Sedan Castle, one of the largest castles in Europe. A large-scale medieval festival takes place here every year in May.
Verdun: The Battle of Verdun during World War I cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of soldiers. The Ossuarium of Douaumont near the city is an impressive memorial centre. In the surrounding area you can also visit the forts of Douaumont and Vaux, destroyed villages and the impressive American military cemetery in Romagne-sous-Montfaucon (52ha).
Orval: Abbey from the 12th century.
Avioth: Gothic basilica.
Charleville-Mézières: Car-free shopping town, beautiful 'Place Ducale', Ardennes Museum, Vieux Moulin with Arthur Rimbaud's museum, the marionette clock (every hour between 10 and 21 hrs, an excerpt from the legend of the 'Four Gentlemen Children' is played).
Reims/Epernay: An hour's drive from Autréville puts you in the cradle of Champagne. Enjoy delicious bubbles and visit the impressive Reims cathedral.
Luxembourg: An hour's drive from Autréville. Visit the MUDAM or shop till you drop in the city centre.
Metz: About an hour and a half away - visit the Centre Pompidou and enjoy the cosy city.
