The house

Our completely detached house is called l' Hirondelle and is a farmhouse from 1816 and recently restored.
Around the house is a large apple orchard where you can make apple pie "from our own garden" in autumn. We also welcome your dog!
Ground floor:
Living room with 2 benches. Open kitchen with fridge-freezer, oven, microwave, 4 electric hotplates, dishwasher and a table with 6 chairs.
The kitchen is very well equipped.
Furthermore, a hall, a bathroom with shower, washbasin, washing machine and dryer and a separate toilet and a shed, which also has a large fridge.
Upper floor:
3 bedrooms; 2 rooms with a double bed and 1 room with 2 single beds.
All rooms have a clothes rack and duvets with linen as well as an electric heater and a window screen. In each bedroom there is a trunk containing (extra) duvets and pillows.
Further facilities include:
Ironing board with iron, cot, trip-trap high chair, ample bedding and towels.
The living room has fine seating with a wood-burning stove as a fireplace and is equipped with audio/video equipment, Dutch TV. Outside is a large stone terrace with table, parasol, 6 chairs and sun beds.
The changeover day is Sunday. This has an advantage, as there is little freight traffic in France on Sundays and many shops are closed on Sundays. The holiday gain is then the following Saturday!

The house is detached, fully available and with neighbours nearby. There is a large terrace with a garden with an apple orchard around it and free views.
There is a playhouse on stilts in the garden and a swing. The use of this is at your own risk. The village of Vassy, with many facilities, is about 3.5 km away. There are hairdressers, bakers, supermarket, bank with ATM, 2 car garages, pharmacy, cigarette shop, restaurant, bar-café and a church.
The house is located in the countryside but there are also beautiful cities to visit such as Bayeux, Caen, St.Lô, Granville, Deauville, Honfleur and Mont St.Michel.
Mont St.Michel is the second tourist attraction in France next to Paris, a must to visit! You can also take the boat to Jersey and Guernsey.
Paris itself can be reached by car and train and is about 225 km from our house. Furthermore, there are beautiful hiking areas, 2 beautiful coasts: Atlantic and North Sea coast, beautiful large beaches for swimming and sunbathing and the invasion beaches D-day (6 June 1944) to visit. There is also a lake 30 km away, for swimming with supervision during the high season.

Wat een heerlijke plek is dit! De perfecte uitvalsbasis voor rust, ruimte en genieten. Het prachtige huis heeft fijne kamers, een volledig uitgeruste keuken, groot terras en een zee van ruimte in de tuin!! Ook de afstand naar het strand was goed te doen en het nabije dorp is op ongeveer 5 minuten rijden met een heerlijke bakker en een fijne supermarkt. Het was enorm goed schoon en de bedden lagen heerlijk! Ook het contact met de host Jacqueline was enorm fijn! Echt een verademing om op zo’n hartelijke manier een huis te kunnen huren voor de vakantie :) Wij komen zeker terug!

Samen met onze twee pubers hebben wij ontzettend genoten van het heerlijke huis. Sfeervol ingericht en zeer comfortabel! Wat een geweldige omheinde ruimte om het huis waarin onze hond zich prima heeft vermaakt. De veelzijdigheid van de omgeving maakte onze week compleet. Wij hopen dat de volgende gasten net zoveel genieten als wij hebben gedaan. Aanrader!

Genoten in de prachtige gite. Het voelt als thuiskomen. Normandië heeft zoveel moois te bieden, de invasie stranden, het heuvelachtige landschap. De beeldschone oude dorpen.

Restaurants, food & wine
The cheeses from Normandy include Pont-l'Évêque, Livarot and Briquebec.
Furthermore, they produce apple cider, Pommeau and of course Calvados!
Restaurants are nearby and don't forget fresh fish in the fish restaurants along the coast
e.g. in Port-en-Bessin, Aubin-sur-Mer or in the port of Granville.
There is a market every day in the area and in the house there is a booklet with where and when there is a
Vide Grenier. These are markets where you can buy brocante/old stuff. Often you can also eat and drink something.
There is also a Calvados farm nearby, where you can taste and buy Calvados, apple cider and a lavender garden, where you can drink something in the garden or the garden house and buy home made lavender oil.
Activities
There are the following activities nearby:
Horse riding, canoeing, fishing, a very nice zoo with pick nick possibility, bungy-jumping, children's playground, 2 big modern swimming pools, 2 golf courses with 18 holes at about 20 km distance (in Vire and Clécy), special walking routes in Swiss Normandy of different distances, bicycles (bring your own), and 7 km cycling on the Vélo-Rail with special 4-person bicycle carts on an old train route through Swiss Normandy, water sports, brocantes (second-hand goods) and markets to visit.
In La Ferté Macé is about 30 km away and has a beautiful swimming lake with ample and free parking. There is a beach (sand and grass) with supervision for swimmers and you can rent a boat. Further remarks
In the house you will find all kinds of brochures of activities in the Calvados. You are welcome from 15.00 hours on the first day of rental until approx. 10.00 hours on the day of departure.

CHANGE DAY is Sunday. This has a great advantage in connection with quiet travel day. July and August are high season months and cost EUR 650,- per week. The rest of the year is low/half season and costs EUR 475,- per week.
The rental price, includes linen and use of water. There is a one-off charge of EUR 60,- for the preliminary and final cleaning. Your bed is also made.
The deposit is EUR 100,- and will be returned to you after your holiday, minus the use of electricity (!) and wood (EUR 7,50 per day). Rental deposit is EUR 100,-
Furthermore, for tenants over 18 years of age, you pay Tourist Tax. An example: this tax is for 4 adults approx. EUR 20,- per week in pre-season and approx. EUR 35,- per week in high season.
With fewer adults, you pay less tourist tax per week.
If you need and use wood for the wood-burning stove, you pay heating costs for the wood. You pay EUR 7.50 per day for the use of wood. There is plenty of wood available!
Electricity costs are calculated according to the start/end meter reading of your holiday. The electricity is charged to your deposit. The house is fully equipped and all rooms have an electric heater.
