GITE AND CHAMBRE D'HOTES L'ANCIENNE ÉPICERIE
In the lovely Normandy countryside, 20 minutes from the idyllic town of Honfleur and 45 minutes from the beautiful seaside resorts of Deauville, Trouville and Houlgate, you will find our - 3-star qualified - Detached Gite suitable for up to 5 people.
A fully equipped and child-friendly gite (since 2016 and reclassified *** in November 2021)
Lounge: Cosy sitting area with 2 sofas , a coffee table, floor lamps;
"Satellite" TV including NL - B - D - UK channels, a DVD player including Dutch (children's) DVDs
a Stereo radio, and a Philips baby monitor
Kitchen diner: Dining area for 5 people and a high chair;
Kitchenette with all appliances (dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, cooker hood)
a fridge/freezer, AIRFRYER (on departure it must be fully cleaned, if not, € 15 will be deducted from
the deposit); full crockery/glasses/cutlery;
Sleeping floor: Master bedroom: with 2-person Auping bed (180x200) and chest of drawers;
2nd bedroom: 3 single beds (90x200) with chest of drawers; in addition a cot is available;
large linen cupboard with all kitchen/bed/bath and beach linen incl. spare sets and hanging and laying possibilities;
Spacious Bathroom: with a "walk-in shower"; toilet, washbasin cabinet; commode with children's bath;
Terrace: At the front and end of the house a lighted terrace with a bench, table and 2 chairs for the morning sun.
Garden: The (lockable) garden is 3000 mtr2: with a covered terrace and a teak table and 6 chairs;
Swings and a sandpit;
Heated surface swimming pool (lockable), a children's pool, children's play table; table tennis table with accessories.
A gas barbecue and deck chairs.
Prams: A Teutonia pram is available on which, among other things, a Maxi-Cosy can be placed.
Prices: Out of season and school holidays: € 795 (all-in), per week stay with Saturday as changeover day.
High season: June/July/August/mid-September: € 895,- (all-in), per week stay with Saturday as change-over day.
All-in prices, i.e. no extra costs everything is included in the rental price.
Security deposit: € 250,- payable one week before arrival by bank transfer;
The deposit, will be returned "cash" on departure, less the tourist tax, possibly the cost of structural
caused damage (a broken glass is not considered structural damage) and possibly the cost of an uncleaned
Airfryer at €15.
Tourist tax: € 0.80 per adult per night of stay, the total amount will be deducted from the deposit.

l'Ancienne Epicerie is strategically located between the Autoroute A-13 (Paris-Caen) and Autoroute A-28 (Rouen-Le Mans).
The villages Lieurey and Epaignes at about 4 km distance with in the centres among others a supermarket, bakery, artisanal butchers, tabac, in each village at least two charging points for electric cars, tennis court and restaurants.
The beautiful beaches of Trouville, Deauville, Houlgate can be reached in around 30 mins without traffic jams

Goed verblijf gehad bij Christine en Peter. Prachtig uitzicht op tuin. Kamer is eenvoudig, maar voor ons prima.
Hartelijke ontvangst en Iedere ochtend lekker ontbijt verzorgd door Christine. Christine is een supergastvrouw en zeer hulpvaardig . Ze zal het je maximaal naar je zin maken.
Christine en Peter, bij deze nogmaal hartelijk dank voor de zeer goede zorgen.

Bedankt dat wij een weekje in jullie geweldige gite mochten verblijven.
Wij waren te gast met onze 3 kinderen (8,7, en 5 jaar) en voelden ons vanaf het welkomstmoment helemaal thuis. De gite was prachtig/schoon en voorzien van alle gemakken. Het weer was ook nog eens prachtig waardoor we volop konden genieten van de schitterend aangelegde tuin. Met name het zwembad was een hit voor de kinderen. Helaas hebben we niet kunnen deelnemen aan de tavie d'hotes, maar een volgende keer slaan we deze zeker niet over, want als gastheer/vrouw zijn jullie ook nog eens enorm betrokken.Lieve groeten,

Restaurants, food & wine
Normandy, like so many regions in France, has a rich history. Examples are:
The Norman conquest and recognition 1100 years ago by granting it 1st rights; then the "adventures" of William the Conqueror; and more "recently" the invasions in June 1944 as the beginning of the liberation of Europe.
Artistically, this region is also known and loved. Many world-famous artists (impressionists -Eugene Boudin- and actors/actresses/composers -Eric Satie- have lived and worked here and/or still live here).
An artistic centrepiece is the town of Honfleur, which is (and was) praised by impressionist painters for its special light.
Culinary-wise, the region is known for its extensive "cuisine" with extraordinary meat and varied fish dishes.
Its own (alcoholic) beverages such as Cidre and Calvados (the "cognac" of Normandy) (the world-famous distillery of Busnel at 8 km, where a nice guided tour is also possible). Not to forget the "Calvados Experience" a light and sound experience in Pont Leveque
Of course the more or less well-known French cheeses such as Camembert, Pont Leveque and Livarot.
Several good restaurants in the vicinity: Auberge du Favril in Le Favfril, Le President in Cormeilles and of course a variety of restaurants in Honfleur (Le Relais des Cyclistes and l'Absinthe - very good fish restaurant - ) and Deauville, Trouville, Houlgate etc.
Activities
About 30 mins away (without traffic jams) you will find places that are more than worth a visit.
Examples:
the Abbey of Le Bec-Hellouin at 18 km;
the beautiful castles of Harcourt at 25 km,
Beaumesnil at 30 km and
Champs-de-Bataille castle with beautiful gardens and golf course at Le Neubourg at 32 km.
Allied D-Day beaches and Memorial Museums such as in Caen, Arromanches, Saint-Mère-Église, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach etc. (1.4-hour drive) are well worth a visit.
Paris and Disneyland are (including by train via Gare Saint-Lazare) about 1.5 hours away.
Beaches can be found at well-known places such as Deauville, Trouville, Houlgate, Cabourg and Villers sur Mer.
Recreational lake with numerous water sports and rental facilities at Pont Audemer and Brionne (15 km).
Swimming pool in St George-du-Vievre (8 km) and Pont Audemer, as well as in Deauville with an Olympic saltwater pool.
The Cerza Zoo at Hermival-les-Vaux near Lisieux (20 minutes by car) is well worth a visit with your children.
The historic town of Bernay with quaint antique shops exudes the charm of Normandy as does Cormeilles (8 kms) with its Friday
weekly market and Pont Audemer (15 km) also known as the Venice of the North, with, besides canoeing opportunities, the special big market on Mondays.
The Basilica of St Therese of Lisieux, whose construction began in 1929 and its consecration in 1954, is now (after Lourdes) the second largest pilgrimage site in France.
For the golf (and nature) active there are the beautiful 18-hole (or more) golf courses in the immediate vicinity such as:

Golf de Champs-de-Bataille
Within a 45-minute radius there are many other challenging "courses".
(all are easily accessible for both CFPers and a challenge for high and low "handicappers").

All prices quoted are all-in (incl. consumption of gas/water/electricity/cleaning/wifi, all linen ie bed-bath-kitchen-beach and spare sets thereof).
Since the end of November 2021, we are again an officially classified 3* Gite.
This classification means a tourist tax of € 0.80 per adult (18 years and plus) per night .
The deposit, payable one week before arrival by bank transfer, will be returned "cash" on departure, minus the tourist tax, possibly the cost of structural damage (a broken glass is not considered structural damage) and possibly the cost of an AIRFRYER that has not been cleaned at €15.
