The house
One of a small complex of four holiday cottages, Well Cottage can sleep up to eight people, plus a cot.
Downstairs: Large kitchen/diner with fully equipped kitchen, wood burning stove and direct access to private enclosed terrace. Living room with TV and DVD. Double bedroom. Family bathroom with bath, walk-in shower, toilet and washbasin and separate toilet and washbasin.
Upstairs: Master bedroom with king size bed and children’s room sleeping four with two single beds and bunk beds. Separate toilet and washbasin.

Located in a rural hamlet, just 30 minutes from the beaches of Royan, St Georges de Didonne and La Palmyre. Surrounded by vines, sunflowers and corn, there's little traffic here, making it a lovely peaceful and safe place to be.
Gémozac, the nearest town, is a 10 minute drive or a pleasant 25 minute cycle ride away. It has all the expected services, including three well-stocked supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, banks, Post Office and a number of smaller shops as well as a very nice bar and restaurant. Also close by, the historic town of Saintes and the fashionable resort of Royan offer more shopping and entertainment options, as well as the beautiful beaches along the coastline.

Heel leuk en aangenaam huisje!
Ruim en charmante Gites.
Heeeeeel kindvriendelijk, ze hebben echt alle speelgoed om zich te amuseren.
Mooi groot en aangenaam zwembad, met alle zwem attributen aanwezig!!
Heel rustige ligging.
We hadden een Super mooi uitzicht op de zonnebloemvelden.

We hebben bij la bigorre een geweldige vakantie gehad. Rob en Paula zijn fantastische mensen die je altijd willen helpen met wat je maar nodig hebt. We waren erg blij dat ze zelfs met een grote ovenschaal aankwamen uit hun eigen keuken toen deze ontbrak in het huisje. Ook voor de kinderen was het geweldig, want er is ontzettend veel te doen bij het huis. Aan speelgoed echt geen gebrek! Ook voor elke leeftijd is er wel een fiets te vinden, en ook fietsen met een zitje achterop. Er is verder niet heel veel in de directe omgeving te beleven, maar op iets meer afstand kan je wel leuke dingen vinden om te doen.
Dat maakt wel dat het een heerlijk rustige omgeving is, en de sterrenhemel in de avond is echt fantastisch mooi!

Restaurants, food & wine
Surrounded by vines and with the world-renowned centres of Cognac and Bordeaux just 40 minutes and an hour away respectively, there are ample opportunities to sample the local wine, pineau and cognac. Excellent restaurants can be found throughout the area and we are happy to recommend some of our favourites, including our closest restaurant in the local village, which is proud to boast its own Maître Restaurateur.
Activities
Surrounded by vines, sunflowers and corn, there's little traffic here, making it a lovely peaceful and safe place to be.
Children are well catered for with our fully enclosed and alarmed heated pool, garden swings and slide, our outdoor covered play area with table tennis, trampoline and a selection of outdoor toys, as well as our indoor games barn with pool table, table football and DVD library. There are also plenty of books for both children and adults.
Alternatively, you may prefer to walk or cycle along the lanes amongst the vineyards and sunflower fields. We have plenty of bicycles (adult and child size) that you are welcome to borrow.

There are many things to see and do in the beautiful Charente Maritime region; visit two of France's most beautiful villages, choose from fabulous beaches at Meschers, St Georges de Didonne, Royan and along to the 'Cote Sauvage', feed popcorn to the animals at La Palmyre Zoo, explore the historic cities of Bordeaux and La Rochelle, and much more. We are happy to suggest some of our favourite places to visit during your stay!
