The house
La Glycine is a very bright gîte with a ground floor of approximately 70 m2 with a large fully equipped kitchen open to the living room with oven, electric hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, as well as a large fridge-freezer.
Dining room, with table and chairs for 6 people, as well as a high chair and booster seat for children if required.
In the lounge area there are three sofas, a TV, DVD player and iPod base.
There is a large bathroom on the ground floor with a bathtub, vanity unit and toilet.
The gite has plenty of accessories and games for children (games and toys, books, DVDs, beach tent, baby phone, night light, baby bath, booster seat, high chair etc). )
On the first floor (safety gates for the stairs) 3 bedrooms:
1 bedroom with double bed,
a second bedroom with 2 single beds or convertible into a double bed according to your needs,
The third bedroom has 2 bunk beds and a cot.

La Glycine has its own private terrace not overlooked (with table, chairs and a barbecue)
You have at your disposal a very large and beautiful garden with trees and flowers of 7000m2 and a swimming pool (not heated) to share.
You will find playgrounds for children (swings, playhouse, slides, football, table football, paddling pools for the little ones), a ping pong table, relaxation areas (deckchairs, tables etc.), a bowling green and bicycles and helmets for adults and children at your disposal.
La Glycine is located in the small hamlet of Phiolin, less than a kilometre from the village where there is a well-stocked mini-market which also sells fresh bread.
The surrounding countryside is peaceful, mainly vineyards and sunflower fields, with quiet roads ideal for cycling.
The Charente-Maritime is renowned for its sunshine and beautiful sandy beaches (only 30 minutes away by car) and for its wealth of activities (wine, sports, spa, cultural) for which we will be happy to advise you!

We had a wonderful holiday here! Valérie and her husband made us feel very welcome and did everything to make our stay a succes. We enjoyed the beautiful garden and our wonderful shady private garden. Our daughter April (7 years old) was completely in love with the swimming pool and played there with some children that were in the other gites. Also there were some very nice play options in the garden. Really wonderful! The house itself was very nice downstairs (nice and cool!) and there was a wonderful dolls house for April to play with. Very unique for a holiday home! Upstairs we were a little cramped with 5 people and there it did get warm. The fans did help! A consideration might be to put in some musquito screens, so you can leave the windows open without worries.

We are taking good note of the mosquito nets which will be part of our plans to renovate our gites this year.
Concerning the heat, unfortunately 2022 was one of the hottest summers ever in France and in Europe.
We must wish all of us and our beautiful blue planet,nice summers in the future; adapting to climate change is also part of our renovation projects for 2023/2024 (insulating the roofs of our gîtes with materials that recycle freshness).

Perfecte vakantie met kinderen. Zowel binnen als buiten is alles voorzien voor de kinderen. Veel gezelschapsspellen, puzzels, stiften, trampoline, glijbanen, schommels, voetbal, badminton,... En niet te vergeten een mooi onderhouden zwembad. Een extreem grote tuin met bomen voor koelte en overal rustplaatsen met stoelen, ligzetels, hangmatten. De eigenaars zijn altijd bereikbaar en zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ook binnen is alle comfort aanwezig. Mooie rustige stadjes in de buurt, kayak, kust,...

We hebben hier een geweldige week gehad met onze twee kinderen. Een ideale uitvalsbasis om de Charente te ontdekken. Overdag het gebied ontdekken en ‘s avonds genieten in eigen tuin van de rust en de sterren. Of uiteraard een middag besteden aan het keurig onderhouden zwembad.
Aan alles is gedacht: van een opgemaakt babybedje en speelgoed tot aan een barbecue die al klaar staat om aan te steken. Ontvangst met brood, wijn en camembert, je voelt je meteen thuis. Fernando is een fijne host en biedt graag zijn hulp aan. Kortom: fantastische plek om van deze mooie Franse regio te genieten.Comment from SALETTES Valérie

Restaurants, food & wine
There are restaurants in all the small towns around La Glycine, with menus to suit all tastes and budgets - crepes, bistro or gourmet. Most use local produce, always fresh and well prepared, with a speciality of seafood.
La Glycine is in the heart of France's cognac producing region, with famous names such as Hennessy and Remy Martin less than 40 minutes away by car. The hamlet of Phiolin is home to its own passionate producer of award-winning cognac and pineau (Best Cognac London Jury Award 2020 and 2022!!), who loves to show people around his distillery, with pineau and cognac tastings on offer.
Activities
All the beaches (Mechers, Saint Georges de Didonne, Royan etc.) offer the possibility to practice various water sports.
Horse riding school and riding centre for organised rides in Champagnolles and Mosnac (5min and 10 min from the gite), canoeing (in Pons 10min), Golf in Saintes or Montendre, Thermal baths, Casino, and water park at the famous Antilles de Jonzac (in Jonzac 20 min), for children the famous Château des Enigmes in Pons (treasure hunt, The Paléosite of Saint Césaire, the zoo of La Palmyre, Talmont classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France (30 min) next to the beaches, Saintes and its Roman vestiges with its well preserved amphitheatre, Mechers and its troglodyte houses, not forgetting Cognac and its famous distilleries (40min) and ....and the Domaine du Chêne distillery of Monsieur Doussoux du Baillif which has won several awards including the Best Cognac in the World Jury Award in London in 2020 and 2022, 150m from the gite!

Further remarks
In July and August the day change is on Saturday, at other times of the year we are flexible.
La Glycine is non-smoking, but smoking is permitted in the gardens.
All linen and towels are included.
There are 2 hypermarkets within 10 minutes of the gite ( Leclerc in Pons, Système U in Gémozac open on Sunday mornings only in July/August )
If you arrive on a Sunday, the well-stocked village mini-market is located 1km from the gîte, is open on Sundays and provides fresh bread and pastries.
Local markets are held on Sundays in the village of Saint Genis de Saintonge, 5 minutes drive away, and every other day of the week in Gémozac and Pons.
Long term rentals are available during the winter months - prices are negotiable.

Additional price info and offers
All linen and towels (including pool towels) are included in the price, as are electricity* and water. For a stay of two weeks or more, sheets and towels will be changed once a week.
You are required to leave your gîte in the condition in which you found it, and all cleaning products are available in the gîte. If you do not wish to do the cleaning, you can opt for the cleaning package at 60 euros.
Electricity: In winter, we charge a fixed rate of 350kwh for electricity, and 0.24€ per kwh for anything more.
