OVERVIEW
The Cerisier is located in the l’Hammeau, in the little village of Longeveau. This two bedroom, ground floor cottage is full of character, offering modern living with the charm of the countryside.

The property centres around an open plan living area with plenty of space for living and dining and an open plan kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and all of the other utensils you may require for your holiday. Plenty of natural light, ventilation and views over the swimming pool to the countryside beyond, will ensure you really get the refreshment you need.

Both bedrooms look into the village centre. The main bedroom has an en-suite and a side door opening out onto a little terrace for two. The second room has two twin beds (which can be put together as a double), and a separate shower room / wc.

The living area leads out onto a terrace at the front (or at the back, depending on your perspective?!) with a table, chairs and BBQ for enjoying the long summer days. The garden (fenced for the little ones) leads onto the pool, shared with the other four properties in l’Hammeau.

The changing season brings views of wheat-fields, sunflowers and corn-fields with plenty of walks and bike rides. With all of the other facilities at Longeveau only a couple minutes stroll away, the Cerisier is the perfect location to unwind and relax.

OUR REGION
Our location on the Charente/Dordogne borders of South West France offers our guests all the luxury of a calm rural retreat with easy access to transport links and the range of cultural experiences and leisure activities that make for a truly memorable fun packed holiday!
AUBETERRE-SUR-DRONNE
Our local village, Aubeterre-sur-Dronne is listed as 'one of the most beautiful villages in France'. It boasts a fabulous cultural heritage together with beautiful natural surroundings and the famous French 'art de vivre' !
Aubeterre has been welcoming tourists for over 1,000 years! Visitors enjoy meandering up and down the narrow streets, admiring the specialist shops and settling down in one of the many cafés or restaurants for a drink or bite to eat. The village square 'Place Trarieux' is the perfect spot to stop, comfortably shaded by the old lime trees and overlooked by the ancient chateau.
The extraordinary monolithic, underground Church of St Jean and the Romanesque Church of St Jacques, with its stunning façade, add to the cultural importance of Aubeterre.
At the foot of the village, where magnificent poplar trees and meadows meet the river Dronne, you will find the river beach and beach restaurant. A sandy beach with play area and beach volleyball, plus regularly organised attractions. The popular tennis club has an annual tennis tournament, open to all, plus you can hire Kayake form the Kayake station, where you can either go out for a paddle or they will drop you off further up stream and you can meander back towards Aubeterre at your own pleasure.
Aubeterre is only a 5 minute drive from Longeveau, or a very pleasant walk or bike ride along quiet roads and woodland tracks. But be warned it is uphill on the way back!

There are toys, swings, slides, sandpits and frames suitable for babies and older children with benches and loungers for a welcome rest space or picnic with mum and dad! There is also a large play chest in our bar which includes some very popular fancy dress options.

We work with Archery Dordogne who deliver a weekly onsite service to all of our guests throughout the season. They have over 15 years experience of teaching archery skills to family groups, corporate events and wedding parties. Private, individual or group bookings can also be arranged.

WALK RUN CYCLE
Walking, running or cycling around our beautiful region is a real privilege. The countryside of the Charente / Dordogne borders is particularly undulating and lush with neat rolling hills making way to forested valleys and babbling brooks. There are many designated rambling and off road bike routes to avail of, including a section of the Camino de Santiago!
There are some designated walks, including the Aubeterre to Poltrot trail, taking in a mix of countryside lanes, fields and woodland. There are lovely walks to our two local villages, or Poltrot, all of which have refreshments available. Or you can do smaller circuits closer to Longeveau, which are equally scenic. One of the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrimage routes from northern France down to Spain, passes right by the entrance to Longeveau, on the way down towards Aubeterre!
Likewise, if you prefer to pick up the pace, there are numerous routes and tracks for you to explore. The relatively quiet country lanes are a pleasure to run, with numerous tracks and trails to take you off-road. The scenery is varied and beautiful. Our on-site house book offers a selection of runs to help you get started. Be aware though, the terrain is usually undulating, so be prepared to work up a sweat!
A local VTT / mountain biking route passes down the lane at Longeveau. The 26km route is sign posted, helping you to stay on track and get the best out of our local countryside! Again, there are numerous other routes for you to explore.
Road cycling is a very popular sport in France. Throughout the summer, there are often local or regionally organised races. In the past few years, the Tour de France has passed as close as Perigueux and Brantome! Local cycling routes are limitless, depending on your ability. There are numerous interesting destinations, to give your route a sense of purpose or some refreshments along the way.

SPORTS BARN
Our Sports barn offers a sheltered place to play, with basketball and short tennis in the summer holidays - ask us in advance if you're not sure. This space can also be used for any number of imaginative games and activities.
TABLE TENNIS BARN
Our table tennis space offers a welcome reprieve from the summer sun in our our Charentaise, stone barn, to the rear of our Manoir. We have whitnessed some serious multi-generational competitions over the years as week long holiday championships are battled out!

BOULES
We have a designated space for serious boules players. However, there are plenty of areas and gardens where guests can play this game with friends and family.

FOOT GOLF / FRISBEE GOLF
This hybrid of football and golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Once a week in the summer, we adapt our golf course into a nine hole foot-golf course. And if football isn’t your thing, then why not try playing with a rugby ball or a frisbee!
The object is simple. Get the ball or frisbee into the hole, in as few a number of shots or throws as possible.
Foot-golf is an enjoyable challenge for boys, girls, Mums and Dads. And because it's safe, it is a rare opportunity for the whole family (including pushchairs) to get out on our golf course.

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Our weekly BBQ creates the back drop for a wonderful chilled dinning experience for all the family, topped off with a kick around the tennis courts! Organised by children and taken very seriously by some parents 😉 this game is for everyone who fancies their chances but the standards are getting very high as seen with even our very young guests!

FITNESS CLASSES
If you’re looking to stay active, why not come and join one of our exercise classes. Our HITT classes involves periods of high intensity exercise interspersed with rest periods. The exercises don’t use equipment but involve the whole body and are performed to music. It’s for all ages and abilities, you work at your own pace and it’s an effective, enjoyable way to train. Iréna Ball is a qualified instructor, running classes twice a week.

CLASSIC CARS
Classic cars have been a feature at Longeveau over the years. Our courtyard has been filled with Jaguars, Citroëns, old MG’s, Aston Martins, Renaults, Bentleys, Panhards, and numerous other interesting old vehicles! We have held special days for Ferraris, Lotus’s, Bentleys and Triumphs.
With the annual vintage car festival 'Circuit de Ramparts' at nearby Angouleme. Plus the 'Circuit de Saintonage' racetrack only 30kms away, we are perfectly located to welcome enthusiasts staying in the area.
