The house
The Cottage stands in the grounds of Chez Fer, in a breath-taking rural setting, close to Villebois Lavalette and Ronsenac villages.
The property is all on one level for easy access.
It has wooden floors, original oak beams and stone walls giving character to the property. This beautiful cottage gives a warm, homely welcome.
Sleeps 2 people comfortably (possibility of accommodating a third person by arrangement only) Baby Cot available on request.
The Cottage comprises of:
•Large spacious bathroom with shower. None slip tile flooring. Ceramic sink with ornate mirror and stylish strip lighting. Storage cupboard. Towels are included.
Excellent views to garden and surrounding countryside.
•The twin bedroom sleeps two people with comfortable single beds, sunshine yellow bedding with matching curtains.
Hanging and shelving facilities for your clothes. Wooden coat hangers provided. Bedside cabinet with table lamp. All bedding is included.
Double glazed window overlooks the stunning view to the garden. Insect Screen allows you to have window open at night. Double french doors open into:
A cosy living room, which includes real oak beams, a large open fireplace with wood burner, satellite TV, DVD player with an assortment of Films, books.
Quality furniture - which includes 2 comfy Two-seater Settees, Coffee table and standard reading lamp. Dining table with 2 chairs.

The cottage is situated in the second sunniest region of France, on the outskirts of the local villages of Ronsenac and Villebois Lavallette.
Set in beautiful countryside, with amenities close by, this is the ideal location for a quiet relaxing holiday, or ideally situated for exploring the amazing south west of France.
The terrain consists of beautiful rolling hills and valleys with amazing views.
The accommodation is restored to an excellent standard, has been awarded 3 stars by Charente Tourism board.

We were warmly welcomed by Barbara and Chris, two very friendly ladies. The cottage looks very good and tidy. We could enjoy the wonderful large garden, which offers a lot of privacy. Lighting the bbq in the garden is no problem at all. We also enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and even more the delicious crumble pie, which was baked by Barbara. All in all had a fantastic time. Thank you for your hospitality, Barbara and Chris.

We had a very nice holiday at Chez Fert. The cottage was beyond expectations, a perfect symbiosis between French countryside and English interior. Very comfortable and clean with a spacious bathroom. Perfect garden with sun and shade and a stunning view over the hills.
The care of Barbara and Chris in the form of coffee, tea, pastry and the question if we had something to eat for tonight gave us directly the feeling that we were welcome.

We felt immediately very welcome. The perfect place to get away frpm all the work and stress of the last months. you brought us peace and quiet on the countryside. we all enjoyed the magnificent garden. The weather was'nt that good but perfect fpr our old Dog. We could enjoy watching at the planets and stars far more than in Belgium. Thanks for the lovely stay.

Restaurants, food & wine
Eating places can be found 7 mins away in the nearby village of Villebois Lavalette. - French Restaurant and a Pizzarea, plus a New Bistro under le Hall.
'Jimmy's Bar' in Ronsenac village serves food and drinks, and is close by.
Approx half an hour away you will find the amazing town of Angouleme for shopping and eateries. In the villages of Aubeterre, Brantome, Riberac, Vertillac, Montmoreau and Nonac,
between 20 -40 mins away you can find a good range of restaurants.
Details are included in the 'Welcome Book' which also includes local vineyards. Grapes grew all over this area years ago, happy to say they are on their way back.

There are tourist historical country Walks and Cycling routes.
Local Fishing lakes in Torbiere - a Nature reserve
Flying and Gliding school near Villebois Lavalette
Lots of Chateaux and an amazing Mercerie with tours arranged by the Tourist Board.
You can taste the local wines and cognacs and especially famous
from this region : 'Pineau' - a blend of Cognac and red grape juice - delicious!!!

Further remarks
Owners live on site but are completely independent from the cottage which is not overlooked and has its own private area.
The Cottage Garden is a large, safe, enclosed area where you can dine out or just relax on the sun loungers, this is also a fantastic space for dogs to run around in freely.
A feature not to be missed is the sky on a cloudless night absolutely full of stars, such a Fantastic Sight.

You can relax in the large, safe garden area, knowing your Dogs are with you and have a secure area to run & play.
Pets must be sociable and controllable. For their own safety dogs must not run around loose out of this area. Please make sure all dog waste is removed
Any Damage caused inside the cottage by Cats or dogs will also be charged for.
