The house
The house is surrounded by many hectares of meadows and trees and has some great views over the valley. From every window you will see green grass and trees and probably some deer walking by. At night it can get very dark and it is very silent. The old traditional stone house is just recently renovated and has a city-like air to it. To us it is like our city apartment in the countryside!
During the colder seasons you will need to heat the house with the two woodstoves which can take a bit of practice but gives of a very nice warmth. (Bring warm indoor shoes, woolen socks and wellies and don't forget to bring a torch!)
The bed in the bedroom is made of two single beds that combine into a comfortable double bed with an extra top mattress. The couch in the living room can be quickly transformed into a double bed.
In summer there is an option to put up one or two tents next to the house for extra guests or children. As the bathroom is easily accesible through the 'back door' the people staying in tents can use it too.

Villa Bâton is an old farm with a nicely renovated farmhouse, three barns and 6 hectares of beautiful land around it. At the end of a winding road in the silent hills of the Creuse far away from highways and cities you will find yourself unwind, relax and enjoy the peace and beauty of this hidden area. The river runs nearby where you can swim and enjoy a beach, there are amazing walking routes and at night millions of stars shine down on you. It's an ideal place for a good rest.

We hebben een geweldige tijd gehad. Het huis voelt heel erg prettig, is mooi ingericht. Het brengt je leven weer even terug naar de eenvoud. Geen vaatwasser, maar gezellig samen afwassen. Houtkachel en houtoven (gewone oven en elektrische verwarming ook aanwezig), een fijne bijkeuken voor schoenen, jassen en alles waar je niet tegenaan wilt kijken. Eenvoudige badkamer, maar met heerlijk warme douche en toilet. Maar vooral een prachtige omgeving en Thijs die erg attent is of je nog iets nodig hebt. Een echte aanrader!

Wij Merle, Katja en Maas (2) hebben een heerlijke week in Villa Baton gelogeerd.
Het is een heel smaakvol ingericht oud stenen huis, voorzien van alles wat je nodig hebt.
Wij voelden ons er direct thuis. Wij hebben als rozen geslapen in het heerlijke bed met onze zoon in een heel lief gedekt kinderbedje naast ons. Villa Baton is een oase van rust.
Het huis is heerlijk koel tijdens de warme dagen. In de ligstoelen voor het huis hebben we genoten van het weidse uitzicht. De natuur heeft hier nog alle ruimte. Een reetje struikelde bijna over mij toen ik naar beneden wandelde. Met onze zoon hebben we in het uitspanninkje bij de Creuse (7 min rijden) ijsjes gegeten en gewaterfietst op de Creuse.

Activities
There is ample opportunity for fishing, swimming, watersports and boating in the surrounding area. With plenty of designated, marked walks available on the doorstep and you can follow the Artist Monet when he resided here by taking the Impressionists' trail in neighbouring Fresslines.
There is a Wolf Park and the worlds largest Maze to visit in Gueret and a Medieval Church and ruins in La Souterraine.
However, If relaxing and spending time with family and friends is what you want, then this is the best place for you.
Situated about 15km between 2 major towns of Gueret and La Souterraine. There are very good road links to the nearest towns Dun le Palestel and the N145 which takes 20 mins to Gueret and 20mins to La Souterraine. So your own transport is essential, however it is possible to hire a vehicle from the airport at Limoges.
Our nearest City; Limoges is only 45 minutes away.
The motorway network in this local area is free (no tolls).
All bed linen and towels are provided for your stay, along with T-towels and some essentials to welcome you (wine etc!) to Gite de Puymouche.
With beautiful country views of the Limousin, you can walk for miles seeing farmland, woodland, lakes and plenty of wildlife.
We have an abundance of wildlife living here too. From Bats of differing variety (seen at dusk), there are Barn Owls, Little Owls, Long Eared Owls, Swallows, HooPoe, Buzzards, Red-Backed Shrikes, Black Redstarts, Common Redstarts and many insects, stag beetles and Butterflys. The larger animals that can be seen are: Coipu (Ragodan), Pinemartins (Martre), Deer and of course the famous Limousin cattle.
