The house
Gites dans les Champs is a complex of 3 gites offering spacious and versatile accommodation. The gites can be rented individually or as a whole. The perfect place for either making new friends or for a family gathering.
L'Hirondelle, a characterful gite, approached via a wide path from the car park, has a feeling of spaciousness as you enter through large French doors into an atrium which rises from a tiled floor with decorative frieze up to exposed original roof timbers and a galleried landing. The open plan lounge has an airy feel, along with a kitchen and dining area seating up to 8 people. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave and gas cooker.
One of the double bedrooms (with en-suite) and one of the twin bedrooms are on the ground floor. Upstairs, two further bedrooms, one king and one twin-bedded, can be found at either side of a galleried landing which contains comfortable seating overlooking the atrium and open plan living area, as well as having views across the courtyard.
The particularly spacious master bedroom boasts impressive French king-sized bed with upholstered head and footboard, and matching furniture. The twin bedroom has dark oak furniture, typical of the region, with prettily co-ordinated furnishings. The bathroom also on the first floor, comprises walk-in shower, marble-topped vanity basin with lighted mirror and WC, fully tiled and with heated towel rail.
The first floor is fully boarded with chestnut flooring, and all rooms have fitted electric heaters. French TV, DVD player and a selection of DVDs are available for guests. A cot and high chair are available upon request.
Outside there is a garden with barbecue, table and chairs for al fresco meals, and a patio alongside the courtyard.

Ideally located for walking, cycling, kayaking and horse riding. With a fenced swimming pool and sun terrace, set in three acres of private parkland. A relaxing environment to spend time with family and friends. We are about a 5 minute drive to the local supermarket (SuperU) and boulangeries (or a 12 minute bike ride).
We are close to main routes for easy access to all local attractions but not far from the N10 for those en-route to Spain

Colette was very helpfull and kind. She was always available for questions. The place is great and there was a lot of space to chill, play soccer and to swim. The apartment was perfect and the kitchen was fully equipped.

Restaurants, food & wine
There are some lovely restaurants within a 20 minute drive of the property. Auberge du Noyer, Le Rejallant, Puy d'Anche as well as several bistros in the town of Ruffec.
Activities
Situated a little over an hour from the Atlantic coast with it's lovely beaches and islands and less than an hour from Futuroscope and Poitiers, guests are offered a diverse range of holiday activities which can include Roman amphitheatres and ancient burial grounds! Cognac is only 45 minutes drive, with good cognac and wine tours. Niort, 50 kms, has a chateau, shops, restaurants and kayaking. Aire de Rejallent (25 minutes away) on the Charente is particularly scenic with its little bridges and grassy islands. Here you can swim, bbq and picnic, ramble on riverside trails and of course the kids will love the play area. During July and August canoes and kayaks are available to hire. The popular restaurant offers al fresco dining with views over the river. Don't forget to take bread for the resident ducks. Ideally located for walking, cycling, kayaking and horse riding

General cleaning is included in the pricing. However, if the gite is not left in a clean and tidy manner a charge may be deducted from the security deposit if necessary.
