The house
Part of the original cottage, dating back to 1838, this comfortable gite is approached by its own garden path. A large kitchen and dining room, beamed with exposed stone walls, has been well-furnished, with a dining area seating up to 6 persons, and a modern fitted kitchen complete with washing-machine, fridge-freezer, microwave and gas cooker.
The beamed lounge offers comfortable seating and occasional furniture. The ground floor is tiled throughout. Stairs lead to a landing off which there is a double bedroom with king-sized bed, a twin-bedded room, and a fully tiled bathroom comprising walk-in shower, washbasin and toilet. Original oak beams and attractive chestnut flooring give character to the bedrooms.
The gite offers full gas central heating, making it especially suitable for year-round rentals. An additional en-suite double bedroom may be available with this property. French TV, DVD player and a selection of DVDs are available for guests. A cot and high chair are available upon request.
Outside there is a garden with barbecue, tables and chairs for al fresco meals and a patio within the courtyard.

Ideally located for walking, cycling, kayaking and horse riding. With a fenced swimming pool and sun terrace, set in three acres of private parkland. A relaxing environment to spend time with family and friends. We are about a 5 minute drive to the local supermarket (SuperU) and boulangeries (or a 12 minute bike ride).
We are close to main routes for easy access to all local attractions but not far from the N10 for those en-route to Spain
Restaurants, food & wine
There are some lovely restaurants within a 20 minute drive of the property. Auberge du Noyer, Le Rejallant, Puy d'Anche and several bistros in Ruffec.
Activities
Situated a little over an hour from the Atlantic coast with it's lovely beaches and islands and less than an hour from Futuroscope and Poitiers, guests are offered a diverse range of holiday activities which can include Roman amphitheatres and ancient burial grounds! Cognac is only 45 minutes drive, with good cognac and wine tours. Niort, 50 kms, has a chateau, shops, restaurants and kayaking. Aire de Rejallent (25 minutes away) on the Charente is particularly scenic with its little bridges and grassy islands. Here you can swim, bbq and picnic, ramble on riverside trails and of course the kids will love the play area. During July and August canoes and kayaks are available to hire. The popular restaurant offers al fresco dining with views over the river. Don't forget to take bread for the resident ducks. Ideally located for walking, cycling, kayaking and horse riding

Your hosts Colette and Gary live at Gites dans les Champs. Guests have their privacy but we are available should you have any problems during your stay.

General cleaning is included in the pricing. However, if the gite is not left in a clean and tidy manner a charge may be deducted from the security deposit if necessary.

Great place. 3 gites in excellent condition. Very well equipped. We stayed in the 2 bedroom roitelet. Spacious enough with two kids. Fabulous hosts, with some nice welcome gifts. Good pool, very spacious, free bikes to use.

Colette and Gary are lovely and very attentive! The setting is superb, quiet and the accommodation very well equipped. The park is huge and in addition to the pool everything is foreseen for the children .. we had rented all 3 gites with friends with children from 8 months to 11 years and everyone found its happiness! We highly recommend!
