The house
The gite La Noix is located in the grounds of Domaine Laubaro, on 1.5 ha of land, in the middle of rolling countryside with beautiful views. It is an atmospheric mix between authentic French details and modern comfort. The area of this house is 110m2, enough space for 6 adults. There are spacious XL beds of 210cm long for a wonderful night's sleep. There is a new heated swimming pool. This saltwater pool is 12 by 4 metres. The pool is only shared with possible guests of the other holiday home, La Noisette, on the estate. From the spacious pool terrace you overlook the hills and a walnut orchard. Besides this holiday home, there is one other gite on the other side of the courtyard, La Noisette. The private terraces are situated to ensure maximum privacy for guests. A place to completely unwind!
You enter the spacious kitchen with bar and 3 stools. This fully equipped kitchen includes a 5-burner gas cooker, dishwasher, large fridge-freezer, oven/grill combination with microwave. A large collection of kitchen utensils is also available. Next to the kitchen is the first toilet.
A step down leads to the living room. This is where the cows used to be housed in winter. There is now the spacious dining area and a comfortable corner sofa and wood-burning stove. There is a (Smart) TV with, among other things, Netflix function and WIFI with superfast fibre-optic internet. The cupboard is filled with books and games for all ages. Also, Domaine Laubaro is located in an area with 4G network for good coverage outside.
From the living room, a wide staircase leads to the upper floor. Here you will find the 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The first bedroom is the master bedroom of 15m2 and has ensuite bathroom with rain shower, toilet and sink. There is a wardrobe and an extra long double bed of 180x 210cm.
The second bedroom is about 12m2 and has 2 90x200cm beds that can be pushed together if desired. Here, too, there is a wardrobe. From the window there is a beautiful view over the green hills.
The third bedroom is about 12m2. This room overlooks the courtyard and has a 180x200cm double bed.
There is a new washing machine for guests to use.
There is also a cot and high chair available. There is no extra charge for this.

Quietly situated between the walnut orchards, in the municipality of Azerat, 5 minutes drive from the village Thenon. Within walking distance of the station of Thenon, where several times a day a train goes to Brive la Gaillarde and Périgueux / Bordeaux. Close to highways.
In Thenon you will find a supermarket (medium-sized Carrefour), petrol station, some restaurants, pharmacy, post office, several boutiques and a bank with ATM.

Wat hebben wij 2 heerlijke weken gehad bij Sander en Mirte! Wij waren er met onze kids eind juli/ begin augustus en verbleven in La Noix. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien en heerlijk ruim. Ook het terras is erg fijn zowel om te ontbijten of om te barbecueën. Het zwembad was ook geweldig. Lekker om wat baantjes te trekken en heerlijk voor de kids om te spelen. Er staan ligbedjes en een lounge bank om echt heerlijk te chillen. Super nice!
Het is een zeer rustige omgeving, maar er is genoeg te doen in de buurt. Leuke avond markten, gezellige braderieën, mooie kastelen en grotten. En naast de informatie map in het huis, zijn Sander en Mirte ook altijd bereid je te helpen. Absoluut voor herhaling vatbaar!! En een aanrader!!Kors from Haarlem,
Wij hebben afgelopen meivakantie een week de accommodatie La Noix bij Sander en Mirte geboekt. Onze reis begon wat minder doordat Transavia de reis had gecancelled. Uiteindelijk zijn we met de auto gekomen en dat sloot prima aan door de flexibiliteit van Sander en Mirte.
De boerderij staat in een mooie, rustige omgeving. Het huis is modern ingericht maar bevat ook nog wat van de originele elementen van de schuur. Het is van alle gemakken voorzien (ook fijn dat je kan streamen naar de tv). Voor mijzelf als lang persoon was het ook erg fijn om een goed bed te hebben wat ook lang genoeg was en om niet te hoeven te bukken onder de douche (wat vaak in Frankrijk zo is). We hebben ook nog 2 dagen met de kinderen lekker kunnen zwemmen in het goed onderhouden, verwarmde zwembad (er is ook voldoende zwembadspeelgoed aanwezig).
Mocht je op zoek zijn naar tips om iets te doen in de omgeving dan kan je altijd bij Sander en Mirte terecht. Of het nou is voor de beste plek om te lunchen, ijsjes te eten of bv. grotten in de omgeving te bezoeken.

Een heerlijke plek middenin de Dordogne. Diverse leuke uitstapjes (kanoën, klimbos, grotten, zwemmeer, chateaus) zijn binnen een half uur bereikbaar. Het huis is stijlvol gerenoveerd, van binnen nieuw en van buiten authentiek. Onze kinderen hebben genoten van het zwembad, wij van de rust en het mooie uitzicht. De Nederlandse eigenaren zijn ontzettend vriendelijk. En een groot pluspunt: er zijn nauwelijks muggen in dit gebied! Kortom, een aanrader.
Restaurants, food & wine
Typical specialities of the Périgord are duck breast, goose, black truffle, the cep and walnuts (AOC du Périgord). These jewels of French gastronomy are promoted by UNESCO. Due to the great variety of these delicacies, there are endless recipes to invent.
There is also a wide range of organic products that underline the attention for quality and healthy production. You can find these products at the weekly market in Thenon on Tuesdays, or at one of the many other markets in nearby villages. Also, the nut wine "Thenon Bon" is definitely worth trying as an aperitif.
Activities
There is a very wide range of activities in this region. In the nearby village of Azerat there is a public tennis court and, unique for the size of the village, a public swimming pool. There are several hiking and cycling trails through the gently rolling landscape with varied views. The cyclists and runners among you can set off without encountering traffic or traffic lights and enjoy the fresh air. Mountain bikers can cycle directly from the house into the forest.
The village of Thenon is just a few minutes' drive away where there is also a swimming and fishing lake. In the summer, the small restaurant by the water is open. There is also a tree-climbing park "L'Appel de la Forêt Parcours Aventure Dordogne" where the whole family can enjoy themselves at their own climbing level.
Public attractions Castle Hautefort can be reached within 25 minutes by car via rural roads, as well as one of the greatest prehistoric discoveries of all time: the cave of Lascaux near Montignac. There are several attractions here, Lascaux II and the Lascaux IV, which opened in 2017, that give insight into the lives of the prehistoric people in this area. Not far away is the municipality of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil, described as the world capital of prehistory.
The rivers Dordogne and Vézère are ideal for canoe trips, with mooring possibilities at several beaches to relax or have a picnic. You can also go horseback riding down the river!
Both the cities of Brive la Gaillarde and Périgueux are within half an hour's reach and certainly worth a visit. Here you can go shopping, visit the cinema or relax on one of the many terraces. The medieval town with half-timbered houses, Sarlat la Canéda, is 40 minutes away and sparkles both in summer and winter and is definitely not to be missed.
In the period July and August, besides the usual weekly markets with local products, there are also evening markets in the village squares; a festive meeting with farmers, growers and craftsmen. Strolling from stall to stall, you can put together your own plate and choose a nice wine to go with it. You can always taste first and then enjoy the long tables and music. A relaxed atmosphere to remember.

Our rental rates include gas, water, electricity and unlimited Wifi. In low season ( until 8/7/2023 and after 2/9/2023) excluding electricity costs.
Beds are made on arrival.
Pool heating before mid-June and after mid-September can be arranged.

Washing machine use includes washing powder. We ask 3 euros for this which we donate to charity at the end of the season.
