The house
This is 'Peaceful France' exclusively for adults. Frances Field is one of our four unique and private, self catering, high quality cottages, set in glorious Dordogne gardens with two swimming pools.
Frances Field is a spacious self-catering holiday gite, just for an adult couple, with a large, south aspect, private veranda.
Frances Field is the largest of our four cottages at Domaine de Leygue. It has a large, beamed, living room furnished with Directoire furniture in gleaming cherry wood, and comfortable twin settees.
There is a cool tiled floor throughout the living, dining and kitchen areas and French doors open on to the wide, private south-facing veranda with its superb views across to the Field Pool and over the rolling countryside towards the village of Bourniquel. The veranda is fully furnished to make the most of outdoor living
The carpeted bright bedroom features a luxury superking-size bed with ‘zip & lock’ facility which allows it to be separated into two single beds if preferred. The room also benefits from large fitted wardrobes, cherry wood furniture , and fine linen. There is ample storage space for your belongings and for your suitcases to be hidden from view during your stay.
An en-suite bathroom has a bath and a shower, and ‘his and hers’ wash basins and heated towel rail.
A spacious dining area, with a cherry wood circular dining table and chairs, leads to a separate kitchen – fully equipped with Villeroy Boch china, and complete with dishwasher and washing machine.
There is a 32" FreeSat TV in the living room.
The cottage has full central heating for chilly months, and private woodland grove car parking, accessed from Domaine de Leygues circular driveway. A path from the parking leads to Frances Fields garden door entrance.

Domaine de Leygue was a small farm, now a loved collection of 4 independent self catering holiday rental gites with swimming pools in The Dordogne countryside.

Domaine de Leygue (pronounced ‘Laig’) is an old Perigord farm. The main owners house and original stone barn lead you to the private guest area which has been transformed into a unique collection of four 1 bedroom, for 2 adults, self catering cottages, two miles from the nearby town of Lalinde on the Dordogne River.
The setting is over four acres of landscaped grounds amidst tranquil, beautiful countryside. Because of our high position there are marvellous uninterrupted views across the adjoining valley, fields and woods that abound with bird and wildlife including wild boar and a variety of deer
We have two swimming pools to choose from; the solar heated Pigeonnier Pool, and the Field Pool, overlooking fields and woods.

De locatie is echt fantastisch! Je zit op tot max. een uurtje rijden af van leuke plaatsen en toeristische dagbesteding. Het is er heerlijk rustig, mooi uitzicht en voldoende privacy.
De gite was verbonden aan een andere gite, maar deze was niet verhuurd, dus we hadden het rijk alleen, met privé zwembad. De cottage was een echte cottage, maar kan her en der wel een update gebruiken (heeft ons niet gestoord). De wifi was helaas erg slecht en het apparaat in de kamer maakte een zeer vervelend piepgeluid. Ondanks dat het een cottage is, had de schoonmaak wel iets beter gekund (laag stof op de ventilator/stofnesten onder eetkamerstoelen e.d.) Verder was alles aanwezig en waren we blij met de grote badkamer. Het bed was naar Franse maatstaven, dus wat klein voor ons.
Ondanks deze kleinigheden, hebben wij een zeer fijne tijd gehad en genoten van het terras, het zwembad en de omgeving. Tip: ga zeker een dagje fietsen met de elektrische fietsen die je daar kunt huren voor €15,00 per fiets. De eigenaar heeft een zeer leuke en goed uitgestippelde fietsroute die prima te doen is.
De zondagsmarkt in Issigeac en een bezoek aan de tuin van Marqueyssac zijn echte aanraders.Marion from Groningen,
Prachtige plek, rustig. Heerlijk om de hele dag een zwembad te kunnen gebruiken die als privé aanvoelt.
Ontvangst met wijn en lekkere hapjes is fijn. WiFi ontvangst is slecht. Op 1 plek buiten een beetje ontvangst. We vonden het huisje niet echt schoon. Aan de schoonmaak valt wel wat te verbeteren. Wel een heerlijke vakantie gehad en ondanks de puntjes van aandacht een plek om naar terug te keren.Comment from Luc et Frédérique Dartois
Beste Marion, we nemen nota van uw opmerkingen.
Wat wifi betreft, zouden de snelheden vanaf 2023 moeten verbeteren met de installatie van glasvezel.
Anderzijds zijn we zeer verrast door de opmerking over de netheid van de gîte.
Wij zorgen persoonlijk voor de kwaliteit van de schoonmaak.
Sinds onze installatie hebben we geen negatieve opmerkingen gehad over de netheid van al onze verblijven, integendeel.het beste was geweest om ons meteen te vertellen wat er aan de hand was. we staan open voor alle opmerkingen en vooral die rechtstreeks gemaakt om onmiddellijk te corrigeren voor het welzijn van onze vakantiegangers.
Restaurants, food & wine
There are many local cafes and restuarants to choose from, ranging from village based delights, to 'secret' Auberges, or head for Bergerac and surrounding towns for morning coffee and meals in a buzzing street environment.
Buy your provisions at the many colourful and lively markets, or eat out informally at the summer evening Marche Nocturnes, where local food is prepared for your enjoyment ....you just take your place setting (couvert) with you...plates, knife and fork and glasses for wine!

Activities
Domaine de Leygue is just for adults, so you can always be sure of a peaceful destination. At any one time, there will only be a maximum of 8 guests in the grounds, (we have 4 cottages, 2 adults per cottage), and so with a choice of two swimming pools, you may have a pool all to yourself! You can wander in the gardens, sky-gaze in the hammock, or snooze under the trees.
An abundance of wildlife is part of this stunning location, and our friendly Labrador, one inquisitive cat, and our own organic chickens may want to say hello also, as well as supplying eggs for our guests.
Domaine de Leygue is a 200yr old farm, and is situated in rolling green countryside just outside the pretty village of Bourniquel, near Lalinde on the River Dordogne, surrounded by the peace and tranquillity of farmers fields, woods, and a local herd of beautiful russet cattle.
Lalinde, 4km away, has all the shops and facilities you're likely to need plus there's an abundance of lovely restaurants in the nearby villages, with Bergerac town and airport only 25 minutes drive away. The pretty village of Molieres only a 5 minute drive, and is just one of many Bastide villages along quiet rural roads. There are numerous walking, cycling, driving routes all in the immediate vicinity, encompassing many villages and towns….we have bicycles here for guests use. It is the perfect location to visit the many morning markets, Marche Nocturnes, festivals, street fairs and more.
Domaine de Leygue also has a small gymnasium, well equipped with a cross trainer, rowing machine and free weights.

Further remarks
Our local supermarket is only 4kms away in Lalinde, a busy little town, with a great Thursday market, cafes and shops. Everything you need is not far away!
