The house
Eglantine has a spacious living and dining room with French doors to the terrace and a wood-burning fireplace. There is a DVD player with screen and a number of free DVDs available in various languages. On the ground floor is a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. There is also a second bathroom. Both bathrooms have a shower, sink and toilet. The luxurious kitchen has a combination microwave, cooker, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer, toaster, orange squeezer, coffee machine, Senseo machine and kettle and is well stocked with crockery, glasses, cutlery and pans. On the second floor is a loft with an armchair with a small collection of games and books (in various languages) for young and old. In addition, there is a bedroom with two single beds and a large bedroom with a double king-size bed. The terrace outside has an L-shape with on one side a view on the playground for the children and on the other side a beautiful view on the village Carlux. The terrace has a brick-built barbecue, a large garden table, a small garden table with matching chairs, 4 sun beds and parasols. On request you can use a spare bed, cot, baby bath and high chair for free (limited availability). There is a parking space next to the house.

Whether you are a lover of nature, culture, history, gastronomy or sport, you will find it in this beautiful area. Some tips: Visit a medieval town like Sarlat with its lively market or the pilgrimage site Rocamadour or Domme or Les Collonges-La-Rouge. Go to one of the many beautiful castles in eg Beynac and Castlenaud. Or visit Chateau des Milandes where Josephine Baker lived. Here you can also see an amazing bird of prey show. Discover the largest geological cave in the area "Gouffre de Padirac" where you can take a boat trip on the underground river. Also recommended: Gouffre de Proumeyssac or the Caves of Lascaux with beautiful rock paintings. A visit to La Roque St. Christophe, a Unesco World Heritage site, should certainly not be missed. This is a 1 km long cave with 5 large galleries. Here you will get a good impression of the life of the cave dwellers. Take a trip with the steam train from Martel or sail along with a "gabarre" on the Dordogne River. Hire bikes and follow the green path past sunflower fields, idyllic villages, and nut groves and through old train tunnels. Or be sporty and rent a canoe so you can explore the area from the water. Horse riding and golf are also possible in the area: Vitrac and Souillac. If you want to have lunch and buy some nice wines, visit one of the many vineyards in the area including: Chateau de Haut-Serre. In season, there are also many festivals and evening markets where you can enjoy French cuisine. Garden lovers should visit the gardens of Marqueyssac, which are also great for children. Or go to the gardens of Eyrignac: one of the most important gardens in France. For children (and adults), there are plenty of fun and educational outings, such as the walnut ecomuseum in Castelnaud, the paper museum in Brantome, the wool spinning mill in Belves, a goat farm in Rocamadour, the historical theme park Bournat, the aquarium le Bugue and the largest climbing park in the Dordogne near Sarlat. There are also several prehisto parks (in Tursac and Lacave) where children can see huge dinos or take workshops in amulet making or archery and see how people used to make fire. There are also several water parks and zoos in the area.

Schön eingerichtet, Zimmer ausreichend groß, sauber, Küchenausstattung ausreichend (ein paar mehr Essteller und Messer hätten es sein können). Die Poolnutzung ist perfekt, für Kinder toll zum spielen und allein unterwegs sein (kein Straßenverkehr). Viel Infomaterial vorhanden

Wat een heerlijke omgeving! Een prima, erg compleet huisje met veel ruimte om het huis heen zodat er altijd wel ergens schaduw is. Een goed verzorgd park met vriendelijke beheerders en een erg charmant dorpje. Wij komen zeker nog eens terug!

The department of Dordogne and nearby Lot are some of the most beautiful and picturesque in France and are renowned for their gastronomic cuisine and varied vineyards. You don't have to go too far to find many other well-appointed restaurants that generally offer a selection of local wines on the menu. So "Bon appétit"
Activities
Eglantine is one of the 12 gites on the small-scale, friendly park 'les gites de Carlux'. The park is surrounded by woods and offers spectacular views of the picturesque village of Carlux and its XIII century castle. There is a large heated outdoor swimming pool of 12m x 6m (open from the end of April to the end of September and heated from mid-May to mid/late September), a paddling pool, a badminton court, a table tennis table, several playgrounds, a table football game and various family games. There is also free Wi-Fi. For a small fee, you can have your laundry washed. In the season, the baker comes every morning with a van with bread, cakes and other delicacies. In the season, boot camp and yoga lessons are often given once a week and a badminton tournament or jeu de boules competition is organised for the guests. A bakery, supermarket, greengrocer and restaurants are within walking distance in the village.

There is a folder in the house with lots of leaflets and tips for restaurants, activities and places of interest in the area. Pets are not allowed on the site.
Additional price info and offers
Our rates include: the rent of the gite, gas, water, electricity, a set of basic herbs in the kitchen, a bottle of hand soap in the kitchen and a toilet roll in both toilets. There are some cleaning products available for you as well as some dishwasher cubes for the first few days. Bed linen, towels and tea towels are also included in the price and will be changed weekly for you free of charge. In the swimming season you will also receive free bath towels, which will be changed if you stay longer than 2 weeks. Your beds are made upon arrival. There is free Wifi and, if available, you can make free use of a guest bed, cot/camping bed, high chair and baby bath (note: limited availability). Note: please bring your own bed linen for the cot/camping bed.
