The house
The gite Le Marronnier, built in the 15th-16th centuries, is located in the friendly village of Cubjac on the river Auvézère in the Périgord Blanc in the Dordogne.
Le Marronnier has its entrance to the garden with its unique large and centuries-old trees, under which it is so lovely to relax.
The stately entrance to this house with its large stone floorboards, leads you through the corridor to a beautiful wooden staircase, to the first floor.
On this floor you will find the spacious living room/lounge/kitchen and one of the two bedrooms and the bathroom.
The living room/salon/kitchen with its original chestnut wood floor and large high windows overlooking the courtyard and garden,
The kitchen is equipped with an induction hob with extractor hood, an oven and microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, kettle
and other kitchen utensils, pots and pans and crockery and glasses.
The lounge is comfortably furnished with a spacious sofa, which can be converted into a bed,
a comfortable meridienne/single sofa and armchair.
The upstairs bedroom has a double bed, each equipped with duvet, pillows and bed linen.
This bedroom has a table and 2 chairs, a wardrobe area and 2 built-in shelves and chest of drawers....
The French windows open onto the garden and street side.
The bathroom is equipped with bath linen, has a shower, sink and toilet is located next to this bedroom.
The second bedroom is on the ground floor and is adjacent to the long corridor.and has French doors to the garden and a window to the street side....
This house is very comfortable and tastefully decorated and is suitable for 2 to 4 persons/adults.
The beautiful garden and large courtyard with its eeuen old trees, have the various spacious areas with tables, chairs and sun loungers and parasols
so you can relax, have your meal, enjoy the silence, your book, the birds without getting in each other's way. ....
This spacious and beautiful outdoor area is shared with the guests of the other 3 gîtes on the estate.

The gîte Le Marronnier, on the domaine "Le Nid des Oiseaux" is located in the quiet village of Cubjac Auvézère Val d'Ans, on the river Auvézère.in the Périgord Blanc in the Dordogne and is only 20km from Périgueux, the capital of the Périgord.
The village of Cubjac Auvézère Val d'Ans is surrounded by rolling countryside with many footpaths in this wooded and rural setting.
These various footpaths in the beautiful wooded surroundings will show you the most beautiful and peaceful spots in Périgord Blanc.
The various sights such as caves, castles and museums are not too far away from Cubjac.
The Dordogne also called the land of 1001 castles with the castles of Hautefort, Beynac and Castelnau,
Commarque and the medieval towns of Périgueux and Sarlat, Brantome, (which is also called the Venice of the Dordogne) and certainly not forgetting the world-famous Lascaux caves in Montignac (UNESCO) are about half an hour from Cubjac.
The caves of Tourtoirac, which are certainly just as interesting, are about 10 minutes' drive from Cubjac
.
The village itself has a bakery, a bar where you can buy your newspaper and a post office.
On Friday mornings there is a market where you can find local products from the various producers.
In the immediate vicinity you will find several delicious restaurants.
You can also undertake various activities in the immediate vicinity such as canoeing, horse riding, quad biking, running, ballooning
and even hang-gliding is one of the possibilities.

We hebben het heerlijk gehad in Gerda's Le Nid des Oiseaux - Le Marronnier. Mooie, rustige, schone plek en van alle gemakken voorzien. Grote, mooie tuin waar altijd wel een schaduwplek te vinden is. Het was erg heet in deze week, maar het is lekker koel in het huis. De locatie is perfect en we hebben de mooiste dorpjes en andere plekken gezien, allemaal in een straal van zo'n 90 minuten rijden. Het dorpje zelf heeft een bakker en een tabac en boodschappen kunnen gedaan worden in Thenon. Gerda is een geweldige gastvrouw en ook al waren we er relatief kort, we hebben er van genoten.

Wij hebben bijzonder genoten van ons verblijf in de eeuwenoude en sfeervolle gite "La Poste", mede door de ontvangst en de gastvrijheid van de zeer vriendelijke gastvrouw Gerda! Door het behoud van authentieke details (zoals muren, deuren en vloeren) en de smaakvolle inrichting lijkt het of je in een oud kasteel verblijft.
Het vakantiehuis is voorzien van alle comfort, biedt optimale privacy en heeft een prachtige groene tuin met zon en schaduwplekken. De bakker zit om de hoek, dus iedere ochtend (behalve maandag) heerlijk vers Frans brood bij het ontbijt. Voor de dagelijkse boodschappen per auto naar supermarkten in de omgeving.
Rustig dorpje, maar er is genoeg te doen in de omgeving. Laatste dag nog genoten van heel gezellige barbecue in de tuin met de andere Nederlandse en Franse gasten en Gerda. Komen heel graag weer terug!!!Marcel Vermeer from Zoeterwoude,
Het was in een woord fantastisch.een helemaal ingericht in de Franse stijl van toen net of je terug in de tijd gaat . de tuin is ook prachtig met overal zitplekken in of uit de zon . We werden hartelijk ontvangen door gerda de eigenaresse van dit verborgen pareltje een heerlijke gastvrije vrouw die ook van gezelligheid houd . Kortom n absolute aanrader als je naar de dordogne wild ik zeg doen

and where you can also sit down at the table to taste these dishes.
In the surrounding villages you will find restaurants to choose from where you can taste the famous specialities of the Dordogne,
