The house
Beautiful old farmhouse, Les Gites Fleuris Wisteria, with heated pool, covered games room, 6ha private gardens and free wifi!
You are welcome at our beautiful location in the Dordogne. Charming holiday rental heated pool, family friendly, safe and convenient for children!
All in all an ideal place to enjoy nature, tranquility, hiking, but you can also walk or mountain bike directly from the house.
Our gite, located near Hautefort, is a cosy detached fully modernised old farmhouse with central heating and wood stove.
We have a 2nd gite on the property, for rent with the Wisteria house for another 2 adults/2 children.
Due to the Covid19 pandemic we will only rent out the Wisteria house or both houses together, so guests will have exclusive use of the gardens, terraces, swimming pool and games room. You will not share.
Beds are made on arrival. And towels are ready. Also towels for outside.
Outside in the large gardens you can enjoy: the swimming pool with terrace, tables, chairs, deckchairs. Barbecue with equipment. In the garden you will find our love of flowers, which results in a beautiful palette of colours. Child friendly! Playground with swings, slide, table tennis, croquet, tree house, badminton, and lovely corners for walking are relax. Inside, the large games room has billiards, toys for all ages, board games, Disney films and children's books. Something for everyone in the family!
The village of St Agnan is about 1 km away.
Here you can get a fresh baguette and croissants at the bakery, also a restaurant, where you can eat delicious a la carte, but also just a fries, pizza.
At 2 km distance you will find Hautefort, here is a large supermarket, several other shops including a Brocante.
Hautefort is also known for its impressive castle, which can be visited with its gardens, various restaurants, nice tea/coffee shop, cosy weekly market.
The region is known for its special local dishes of duck and goose, often enriched with truffles. These regional meals are served in various restaurants.
At less than 5 km you will find the caves of Tourtoirac, definitely worth a visit.
Excideuil with a large supermarket and golf courses is 13 km away.
At about 35 km lies theCapital of this area is Périgueux. With narrow alleys and beautiful facades in the preserved old districts.
Actually, you hardly need to leave the site, you can relax and walk, but if you want to see more of the area, there are various activities in the area.

The region is crossed by the rivers Isle and Auvézère, excellent for those who like fishing and canoeing, there are also several places along the river where you can swim.
Within a radius of 10 km. there are possibilities for walking, canoeing (e.g. from Chevieux-Cubas to Tourtoirac), horse riding, mountain biking, climbing and ballooning. There are also several rivers/lakes in the area where one can swim.
Nearby (max 30 minutes by car): climbing, swimming, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, cycling, horse riding. Climbing in the trees in the climbing pole in Thenon.

Les Gites Fleuris is located on a quiet, one-lane road, in a beautiful corner of paradise. The small hamlet of 18c stone Perigordian farmhouses is charming and quiet. The number of passing cars per day can be counted on one hand. The area has rolling hills, woods and farm fields with horses and cows, the typical landscape of the Dordogne. The windows of the Wisteria cottage overlook the landscape and the beautiful view!
Walk out your door, through fields and woods, and even to the local castle, the Chateau de Hautefort (3km)! Fruit trees are on the property, and you are welcome to pick and eat what is in season! Take a walk down to say hello to our horses, they love a carrot and a stroke. The French neighbour's chickens and ducks provide a calming atmosphere.
The village of St Agnan is less than 1 km away (including the bakery, the church, the bank with ATM and the restaurant where pizzas can also be collected). The supermarket (Intermarche open 7 days a week!) is in Hautefort 2 minutes away by car. The local medical centre is 2 minutes walk from the hill, and there are 2 pharmacies (Hautefort and Cherviex). The Tourist Office is in Hautefort, and has all the brochures you need to see the possible excursions. We are here - on site to help you plan some great day trips to the World Heritage Site! Hautefort also has 6 other restaurants to choose from.
Furthermore, all the villages in the immediate vicinity are worth visiting, especially for their characteristic old alleyways, old churches (preferably from the 13th century), abbeys and castles. Further away are the caves of Lascaux and the medieval village of Sarlat.

Fantastische vakantie gehad.....Op een prachtige locatie met zwembad, tuinen en terrassen. De kinderen kunnen zich ook prima vermaken in de grote speelkamer. Het huis ligt in een prachtige omgeving. Eigenaren zijn ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam!
Restaurants, food & wine
As the saying goes, "You'll eat well in Périgord". Surrounded by farms, everything here is fresh from farm to table. This area is known for pate de fois gras, confit de canard (duck), walnuts, black truffles and nearby wine from Bergerac, St Emilion and Bordeaux. Visit the farms to see the feeding of the ducks, taste the locally made goat cheese, see the truffle trees and taste the local walnut cakes. The gem, of course, is the fois gras paired with a glass of Monbazillac wine.
The local restaurants have great food that will delight your pallets, with some Michelin stars just a short drive away.
Activities
The Dordogne has beautiful rolling hills, with stunning views of the countryside. Take a walk to town past grazing cows on the small one-lane road. Walking, cycling, canoeing, lots of outdoor activities.
Known for food and wine, great restaurants, open air markets, fresh farm produce. There are also 1001 castles, cromagnon cave art, and amazing caves. So much history and interesting places to keep you busy, or just relax by the pool with a good book listening to the birds.
