The house
The house is in the heart of the Dordogne, is approx. 200m2, has been restored and has 2 bathrooms and wood-burning stove in the living room. Entire house has underfloor heating (very comfortable).
The house is on a slope overlooking the valley and has 2 levels:
Street level above: Entrance, dining kitchen (8x5) with cooking island, large living room (5x6) with wood stove, hallway, master bedroom (6X4), bathroom (4x2) with bath, shower, double sink and toilet). Large balcony (3x3.5) with pergola and lighting facing south on the living room with magnificent views and stairs to garden.
Garden level downstairs: 3 spacious COOL bedrooms: dungeon room (3.5x4), garden room (4.5x4) with French doors to the garden and four-poster room (4.5x2.5), bathroom (1x2.5) with shower, sink and toilet. A garage area with washing machine, dryer and space to hang laundry inside. Outdoor kitchenette with gas hob under the balcony
Parking is available in front of the door.
The furniture (inside and outside) is comfortable.
The beds have good, comfortable mattresses. Beds: bedroom 1:2x100x200cm, bedroom 2 : 2x90x210cm, bedroom 3: 2x80x200cm, bedroom 4: 1x90x190cm. The bedrooms have mosquito nets - allowing ventilation in the cool nights - and a fan.
The house is fully equipped with washing machine, dryer, 6-burner gas hob, fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, coffee machine, kettle, toaster, blender, blender, ice machine, satellite TV 80cm (canal digital), radio/CD player.
The kitchen is generously equipped with utensils. Owner loves to cook. There are all kinds of herbs inside and outside the house.

The location is central in the Dordogne in the Perigord Noir. The house is close to the pretty atmospheric villages of Molieres and Cadouin (approx. 2km), where you can get your fresh baguettes in the morning. There are many recreational opportunities nearby such as canoeing, golf, tennis, horse riding.
The house has lots of privacy with 5 hectares of land and is in the middle of a forest area. Fishing is possible in our own lake.
All rooms, terraces and garden have nice views and are south-facing.
Due to the special location and varied vegetation, there are also many nice cool spots in the garden for hot days. Picnicking in the garden is lovely. For children, the garden is a true adventure: woods and a vast meadow. A road with little traffic runs between the house and the lake.
A lovely stream also runs in the grounds.
The house is comfortably and tastefully furnished.
In summer, one can sit outside on the balcony with pergola until late in the evening.
One hears and sees many animals, such as deer, squirrels, birds, etc. Birds of prey and herons take fish from the lake; it is wonderful to see them in action!
Possibility to barbecue outside.
There are several sitting areas with nice views, outside in the garden.

Heerlijk huis in prachtige omgeving. Alle richtingen op zijn leuke uitstapjes te doen: mooie dorpjes, markten, wandelen, cultuur. Het huis zelf is ruim, comfortabel en mooi ingericht en heeft alles wat je nodig hebt. De slaap- en bijbehorende badkamer zijn uitstekend; het bed slaapt heerlijk. Ruime mooie tuin met allerlei plekjes om te zitten/liggen. Elke avond buiten gezeten en genoten van de bosuilen. Kortom: top! Kom hier graag nog een keer.

Wat een fijn en mooi huis. Ruim en van alle gemakken voorzien. Mooi en rustig gelegen met prachtig uitzicht op de tuin en het groene dal. De eigenaren zijn uiterst vriendelijk en altijd bereikbaar voor tips en vragen. Er is veel te zien in de omgeving zoals bijvoorbeeld de plaatsen Bergerac, Sarlat en Beynac en de grotten van Maxange in Le Buisson de Cadouin. In het hoogseizoen blijkt reserveren in de restaurants wel een must. De streek is een relatief verzorgd deel van Frankrijk. Supermarkten en restaurants zijn er voldoende te vinden in de directe omgeving. Hartelijk dank Timmie en Maarten voor jullie gastvrijheid.

Wat een mooi huis in een schitterende omgeving, rust, natuur, prachtige stadjes en (h)eerlijk eten. Elke avond een concert van de burlen de hertebokken en de oehoe’s van de uilen. Van allerlei wild gezien, ook 1 van de bevers in het meertje. Volgend jaar weer in een ander seizoen. Hartelijk dank Timmie en Maarten dat wij hier onze vakantie konden vieren👍🏼
Restaurants, food & wine
In the area, you can eat well for little money. The local Bergerac- Montbazillac- Pecharmant wines are excellent.
The vineyards of Bergerac and Bordeaux are nearby so one can buy wine locally at the chateaus.
Wine festivals are also held regularly. Books, Cookery books, DVDs on wines available.
Activities
Walks can start from the front door or from our garden. The house is situated in the middle of a beautiful nature reserve. Hiking guides, travel guides, brochures are available in the house.
Swimming is possible in the Dordogne. (The Dordogne beaches can be very wide). There is a fine piscine municipale in Le Bugue (cheap, in June/September free).
There is a swimming lake with a nice sandy beach in LeBuisson de Cadouin and Lumey , about 5/6 km from the house. And many more swimming spots. (The Dordogne)
Canoeing can be combined with swimming in the Dordogne or Vezere. Many activities for children in the area.
You can make trips to many prehistoric caves, markets, picturesque towns (eg Cadouin, Sarlat, Beynac, Cladec), fortified towns "bastides" (eg Belvez, Montpazier, Moliere), castles. Because of the slightly
hilly area is good for mountain biking.
In spring, autumn and summer there are always all kinds of activities such as flower- and antique markets, food- and wine festivals, concerts, guided tours etc. in the nearby beautiful villages...
In the neighbourhood you can follow yoga, cooking and painting courses.

Further remarks
The 50cm thick stone walls ensure a pleasant stay indoors in summer. Wood stove available with free use of firewood. In flowery spring and colourful autumn, the surroundings are also beautiful and there are also fewer tourists in the centres.
Garden and balcony face south, making it possible to sit outside until late in the season. There are several sitting areas in the garden with nice views.
You can spread your picnic mat anywhere on the vast grounds.
