The house
Chez Mimi is located in the Domaine Le Repaire, at the end of a peaceful hamlet, only 2 km from the village of Mareuil en Périgord.
It is a very spacious cottage, ideal to spend pleasant vacations with family or friends, in summer as well as in winter. It is perfect to accommodate up to 6 guests. Beside this gîte is Chez Misja ( 4personnes ). Our two gîtes are side by side and can be rented collectively. (see below in the description)
In 1944, the Domaine Le Repaire was a refuge for the maquis group "Mimi". More than 1000 people came here to enlist in the "RAC" brigade.
Chez Mimi has a large fenced garden with terrace and is well equiped (barbecue, deck chairs, parasol, outdoor table).
This cottage has been lovingly restored in the typical Perigordian style. The stones and the visible beams give a lot of character and warmth to this cottage.
On the ground floor are three bedrooms. Two bedrooms with two double beds and one bedroom with two single beds. You will also find the bathroom with shower, bath and toilet. Sheets and towels will obviously be provided. The presence of the rooms on the ground floor allows the holidaymakers to enjoy the freshness offered by the old cottages, which is very much appreciated during the hot summer months.
Upstairs, you will find a kitchen/dining area. The space is cosy and comfortable with a large table. The kitchen is fully equiped (refrigerator, gas stove, a washing machine and all the necessary dishes and cooking utensils). You will also find a very spacious living room. In the summer, the stone walls will protect you from the heat and in the winter you will enjoy your evenings by the wood stove.
Board games, books, a hi-fi system and a television are at your disposal.
The Domaine Le Repaire includes another Perigordian house, adjoining the gîte Chez Mimi. This gite (Chez Misja) is available for rent and has its own private space to meet everyone's desire for peace and quiet. However, their proximity allows vacationers (and especially children) to share moments of conviviality if they wish.
The following facilities are available to all holidaymakers of the two cottages:

Located in the heart of a preserved nature where absolute tranquility reigns, the Domaine du Repaire is surrounded by hilly and varied landscapes. Nearby, you will find beautiful forests, meadows, flowered valleys and rivers. The property stands in a peaceful hamlet, only 2 km from the village of Mareuil en Périgord known for its famous castle, with all the local shops (grocery store, bakery, butcher, pharmacy, supermarket,...). You can visit its farmers' market every Tuesday morning.
Mareuil en Périgord is located close to the famous medieval city of Brantôme, at the gates of the Perigord Limousin Natural Park. Brantôme has been named the Venice of Perigord. You will be able to visit the remains of the troglodytic monastery and the enigmatic cave of the Last Judgement. The city center is made of tiny narrow streets, small shops and craftsmen, flowered bridges crossing the canals and beautiful cottages with medieval facades.
Many activities can be practiced, such as canoeing, fishing, swimming, boat cruises and hiking.
The surrounding villages are dynamic and offer great opportunities for visits, including Verteillac and its flea markets, Nontron and its famous cutlery, Ribérac and its large outdoor market. Aubeterre-sur-Drôme, one of the most beautiful villages in France, is only 40 minutes away. Don't miss to visit its monolithic church, its historical center and its riverside amenities.
The large historical cities of Périgueux and Angoulême are also very close by. Both are lively cities with many stores and beautiful museums.
Prehistory is also in the spotlight in the Périgord, with the famous caves of Villars (30 minutes away). From the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, experience the castle life in Bourdeilles, Mareuil and Puy Guilhem. To the North-East, the villages of La Chapelle-Faucher and Saint-Jean-de-Côle are also definitely worth a visit.
For wine lovers, a visit to Saint-Emilion and Bergerac is highly recommended.
The most adventurous can also discover the Périgord Noir and the famous Lascaux caves or visit the medieval town of Sarlat.
Finally, castles, museums, caves, abbeys, natural sites, canoeing, fishing, hiking, biking, mountain biking, cultural activities are all things to do near Domaine Le Repaire.

Het huis is erg ruim, alles was aanwezig. Het was ook allemaal erg schoon. Veel privacy door de omheinde tuin. De tuin was groot genoeg om genoeg zon en schaduw te hebben. De hond kon in de omgeving heerlijk rennen. Emilie is zeer behulpzaam en erg aardig. We hebben een fijne vakantie gehad in Chez Mimi

Het is een heerlijk huis met een mooi ruim zwembad. Er is veel ruimte om het huis heen en het is er erg rustig. De gastvrouw woont naast het huis en is aardig en behulpzaam. Er is veel te doen in de omgeving.
Zwembad grenst niet direct aan de tuin (1 min lopen) waardoor in de praktijk kinderen vaak toch minder vaak alleen gingen zwemmen. Zou met jongere kinderen een overweging kunnen zijn.

Restaurants, food & wine
You will be able to taste the famous Bergerac wines such as Pécharmant and Monbazillac, or the famous Saint-Emilion wines in the Bordeaux region (do not hesitate to organize a guided tour with a tasting).
As Charente region is very close by, you will also be able to taste excellent Cognacs and Pineau des Charentes.
The culinary specialties are also very present (foie gras, black truffle, walnuts, mushrooms). The good restaurants of Mareuil and Brantôme will satisfy the most demanding gourmets.

Additional price info and offers
The indicated prices apply to the rental of the gîte at Chez Mimi. They include the cleaning at the end of the rental period, the provision of linen and towels, gas, water, electricity, WiFi. If you wish, an extra bed can be provided. Animals can be accepted on request (after acceptance on our part) for an extra charge to be determined.
There is a deposit of 250 € per week of stay to be returned upon arrival (this amount will be cashed only if necessary).
