The house
Chez Misja is a warm and cosy cottage ideal for spending pleasant vacations with family or friends, both in summer and winter.
Chez Misja is located at the Domaine Le Repaire, at the very end of a peaceful hamlet, only 2 km from the village of Mareuil in Périgord.
This gîte is ideal for 4 travellers (with the possibility of adding an extra bed). Next to this gîte is Chez Mimi (6 persons). Our two gîtes are side by side and can be rented collectively. (see below in the description)
Chez Misja has a large fenced garden with terrace. Its private garden is well equiped (barbecue, deckchairs, parasol, outdoor table) and will allow you to enjoy your vacations while keeping your privacy and enjoying a magnificent view of the valley below.
This cottage has been lovingly restored in the typical Perigordian style. The stones and the visible beams give a lot of character and warmth to this cottage.
On the ground floor there are two bedrooms with 1 double bed and 2 single beds. There is also an extra room that can be used as a checkroom or as an extra bedroom if an extra bed is needed. There is also a bathroom with shower, bath and toilet. Sheets and towels will be provided. The presence of these rooms on the ground floor allows holidaymakers to enjoy the freshness offered by the old houses, which is much appreciated during the hot summer months.
Upstairs, with its magnificent exposed beams, the living space offers a fully equipped kitchen (a gas kitchen stove, refrigerator, dishes, washing machine, etc.) open onto a living/dining room. In the summer, the stone walls will protect you from the heat and in the winter you will enjoy your evenings by the wood stove. Board games, books, a hi-fi system and a television are at your disposal.
.The Domaine Le Repaire includes another Perigordian house, adjoining the gîte Chez Misja. This cottage (Chez Mimi) is available for rent and has its own private space to meet the desires of peace and quiet of everyone. However, their proximity allows vacationers (and especially children) to share moments of conviviality if they wish.
The following facilities are available to all holidaymakers of the two cottages:

Located in the heart of a preserved nature where absolute tranquility reigns, the Domaine du Repaire is surrounded by hilly and varied landscapes. Nearby, you will find beautiful forests, meadows, flowered valleys and rivers. The property stands in a peaceful hamlet, only 2 km from the village of Mareuil en Périgord known for its famous castle, with all the local shops (grocery store, bakery, butcher, pharmacy, supermarket,...). You can visit its farmers' market every Tuesday morning.
Mareuil en Périgord is located close to the famous medieval city of Brantôme, at the gates of the Perigord Limousin Natural Park. Brantôme has been named the Venice of Perigord. You will be able to visit the remains of the troglodytic monastery and the enigmatic cave of the Last Judgement. The city center is made of tiny narrow streets, small shops and craftsmen, flowered bridges crossing the canals and beautiful cottages with medieval facades.
Many activities can be practiced, such as canoeing, fishing, swimming, boat cruises and hiking.
The surrounding villages are dynamic and offer great opportunities for visits, including Verteillac and its flea markets, Nontron and its famous cutlery, Ribérac and its large outdoor market. Aubeterre-sur-Drôme, one of the most beautiful villages in France, is only 40 minutes away. Don't miss to visit its monolithic church, its historical center and its riverside amenities.
The large historical cities of Périgueux and Angoulême are also very close by. Both are lively cities with many stores and beautiful museums.
Prehistory is also in the spotlight in the Périgord, with the famous caves of Villars (30 minutes away). From the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, experience the castle life in Bourdeilles, Mareuil and Puy Guilhem. To the North-East, the villages of La Chapelle-Faucher and Saint-Jean-de-Côle are also definitely worth a visit.
For wine lovers, a visit to Saint-Emilion and Bergerac is highly recommended.
The most adventurous can also discover the Périgord Noir and the famous Lascaux caves or visit the medieval town of Sarlat.
Finally, castles, museums, caves, abbeys, natural sites, canoeing, fishing, hiking, biking, mountain biking, cultural activities are all things to do near Domaine Le Repaire.

We hadden een zalige week bij Chez Misja. Het huisje had alles wat we nodig hadden en de tuin had een prachtig uitzicht. Zalig om smorgens je koffie ter drinken en tot rust te komen. Zowel wij als onze zonen hebben genoten van het zwembad en de rest van de accomodatie. Prachtige steden in de omgeving.

Très bon séjour dans ce gîte agréable « chez Misja ».
Le gîte est situé dans un hameau très calme mais suffisamment proche de Mareuil-en-Perigord et de ses commerces (2,5 km).
Nous avons apprécié la très belle vue depuis le gîte sur le paysage vallonné .
Le terrain engazonné et clôturé devant le gîte est pratique pour prendre l’air, même en février.
Nous avons fait plusieurs randonnées avec des paysages variés, dont l’une de 12 km directement à partir du gîte, sans avoir besoin de se rendre en voiture au point de départ.
A l’intérieur du gîte nous avons apprécié le bel aménagement sympathique et confortable. Le « plus » est la mise à disposition d’une chaîne HiFi. On peut apporter ses CD ! La disposition sur 2 niveaux (rez-de-chaussée et étage) n’est pas pénalisante à l’usage.
Accueil très sympathique de la part d’Émilie.

Restaurants, food & wine
You will be able to taste the famous Bergerac wines such as Pécharmant and Monbazillac, or the famous Saint-Emilion wines in the Bordeaux region (do not hesitate to organize a guided tour with a tasting).
As Charente region is very close by, you will also be able to taste excellent Cognacs and Pineau des Charentes.
The culinary specialties are also very present (foie gras, black truffle, walnuts, mushrooms). The good restaurants of Mareuil and Brantôme will satisfy the most demanding gourmets.

Additional price info and offers
The indicated prices apply to the rental of the gîte at Chez Misja. They include the cleaning at the end of the rental period, the provision of linen and towels, gas, water, electricity (except between the months of October and April when a contribution is requested based on actual consumption), WiFi. If you wish, an extra bed can be provided. Animals can be accepted on request (after acceptance on our part) for an extra charge to be determined.
There is a deposit of 250 € per week of stay to be returned upon arrival (this amount will be cashed only if necessary).
