The house
The gite
From the spacious hall you enter a fine, light living room with access to your own garden. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher and a convection oven. From the kitchen you have access to the covered terrace with two seating areas and a fixed barbecue. The summers here are long and beautiful, so you can often cook outside. Glass of wine and voilà.
There is a bedroom with a double bed and a living/bedroom with a good sofa bed for two persons. Of course there is free wifi. There is a smart TV on which you can receive French and Dutch channels and (with your own subscription) can watch Netflix. There is a shelf with reading books, there are a few board games and outside is a box with real pétanque balls.
There is a bathroom with shower and washbasin and a separate toilet. There is also a washing machine.
The swimming pool (10 x 5 metres) is on the other side of the house and is shared with the owners.
Our house is a forty year old 'en pierre'. We (Guus and Janet and our ten year old bordercollie Senna) live in the upper part, the cottage is half a floor down, on the ground floor. The house is situated on a quiet D-road and is fully south facing on a plot of over 5000 m2, with behind the house on the north side an oak forest.

We waren te gast bij Janet en Guus in hun fijne gite. Een heel knus en compleet huisje met een fijne buitenkeuken/veranda. Het zwembad is top! In de omgeving zijn leuke dorpjes, kastelen, wandelroutes en markten. Guus en Janet zijn heel gastvrij en hun hond Senna is een schatje. Wij vonden het heerlijk dat het er in de nacht muisstil en aardedonker is. We hebben heel erg genoten!

Wat fijn, Geert en Jo, dat jullie hier een prettige tijd hebben gehad. Wij vonden jullie ook heel gezellige gasten. We ontvangen jullie graag nog een keer in Plaisance!

Wat een prachtige plek en lieve gastheer en gastvrouw! De eerste ochtend stond er een lekker ontbijt voor ons klaar. We zijn maar 4 dagen geweest maar dankzij de tips van Janet en Guus hebben we veel gezien! Heerlijk gegeten in Eymet, markt bezocht in Issigeac en een dag in het oude gedeelte van Bergerac geweest. Daar gevaren over de Dordogne, genietend van de omgeving.

We zijn dit jaar weer naar Les Fontenelles de Mandacou geweest en werden wederom hartelijk ontvangen door Janet en Guus.
Dit jaar zijn we naar een marché gourmand geweest. Dat is een soort foodtruckfestival, waarbij de foodtrucks zijn vervangen door allerlei eetstandjes. Een wijntje of biertje erbij, livemuziek en een super gezellig sfeertje! Aanrader!
Daarnaast naar Chateau Bridoire geweest. Mooi kasteel met allerlei middeleeuwse spelen in de tuinen en een speurtocht rond het kasteel. Beide kinderen (3jr en 9jr) hebben genoten. Bij Chateau Duras werd ook vanalles georganiseerd met o.a. een schouwspel met d'Artagnan en een valkenshow. De kinderen hebben later met hun ridder speelgoed in het fort bij de gite gespeeld.
Uiteten kun je prima in Issegeac en Eymet. Beide binnen 10km (?) afstand van de gite.
In en rondom de gite geniet je van de rust maar we hebben ervaren dat de dorpen in de omgeving in de zomer de nodige gezelligheid bieden. Leuke markten ook met veel lokale producten.
Het verblijf was verder weer keurig verzorgd. Bijkomend voordeel van een gite is, dat je niet met openingstijden te maken hebt en we 's nachts nog heerlijk van het zwembad konden genieten.
Restaurants, food & wine
In all villages, towns and cities, you will find fine restaurants where you can enjoy all kinds of regional dishes with truffle, walnuts, prunes, duck, foie gras and of course wine. The speciality of the area is the wine from Monbazillac (delicious with foie gras!).
In spring and summer, flea markets are organised throughout the area. In summer, there are pleasant evening markets, such as the marchés gourmands, where you can enjoy all the delicacies of our region on the spot.
Activities
The region
About five kilometres away is Issigeac, a beautiful medieval village with a market on Sunday mornings that is known and visited throughout the region.
Not far away are the beautiful bastide villages of Castillonès, (7 km) and Eymet (12 km) where you will find all the necessary shops.
In 20 minutes you are at the airport and in 25 minutes you are in the centre of Bergerac, a beautiful city on the Dordogne river with nice shops and terraces in a beautiful old town. A trip with a gabarre on the Dordogne is a very nice experience!
Furthermore, in the area you can make beautiful walks, cycle, canoe and play golf.

All rooms in the gîte are at ground level. However, the entrance to the gîte has a step. The bathroom is not easily accessible for wheelchair users.
