The house
Unwind in our completely renovated, authentic house in the middle of nature.
The house is located on a dead-end road, has a spacious garden, a private swimming pool and an attractive spacious veranda. Located about 3 km from the village of Coussac Bonneval with its imposing castle and basic amenities, such as a small supermarket, cafe, bakery, pharmacy and reputedly the best butcher in the area.
The house is fully furnished with an eye for detail. The veranda has a spacious dining table, cosy atmospheric lighting and a barbecue. The outdoors can be enjoyed both during the day and in the evening.
The lovely countryside, bright summer days and starry skies guarantee a relaxing stay at Le Chatain!

The house is quietly located on a dead-end country road. At the end of this road lives the back neighbour where fresh eggs can be bought. Only local traffic and occasional hikers pass by. From the house you can make beautiful walks and cycle tours. Electric bicycles can be rented near the house.
The private garden is large and part of it is uncultivated. In this grove, children can play, explore, build huts, swing etc. to their heart's content.

Net terug van een heerlijke week in Le Châtain. Wat een fantastische plek en heerlijk, mooi, fris en gezellig huis. We hadden niet het mooiste weer maar dat deerde ons niet. Vanuit het huisje kan je alle kanten op bv naar de Corrèze, Creuse, Dordogne en natuurlijk is er in de Haute Vienne ook zoveel moois te zien. Volop genoten en komen zeker nog een keer terug. Dus als je even wil bijtanken, genieten van de rust en de natuur zeg ik boek dan Le Chatain daar krijg je geen spijt van.

Een mooi uitgerust huis op een heel rustige locatie op het platteland. Je kunt heerlijk onder de veranda zitten tot 's avonds laat en als je uit eten wilt moet je een ritje maken met de auto naar het dorp Coussac-Bonneval (in het plaatselijk hotel) of naar St. Yrieix-la-Perche, Maar in het huis is een fijne oven en 5-pits gasfornuis, dus je kunt ook lekker kokkerellen, als je daar van houdt of lekker ergens goed lunchen 's middags. Er zijn diverse kastelen in de omgeving, bijv. Arnac-Pompadour en Chateau de Hautefort. Ook pittoreske dorpjes zijn er, bijv. Ségur-le-Chateau en Brantôme (met zijn abdij) zijn erg leuk. Het huis beschikt over prima internet dat is ook erg fijn. De eigenaren zijn erg behulpzaam (op afstand) en heel vriendelijk. Een echte aanrader voor wie van rust en ruimte houdt.

Restaurants, food & wine
There are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby where you can go during the day and/or in the evening. Also, in summer, there are so-called ' marchés des producteurs' in several places nearby. Apart from buying regionally produced products, you can also consume them on the spot, by sitting down at the long tables and eating and drinking together. These evenings often end with (live) music. Well worth experiencing once.
Activities
Le Chatain is located the Haute Vienne department, close to Corrèze and Dordogne. The surroundings are characterised by a friendly hilly landscape, many lakes, castles and cosy villages. The area is therefore perfect for beautiful tours; by bike, on foot or by car.
In the nearby places, such as Coussac Bonneval and St. Yrieix, there is a lot to do and discover. For larger places, Limoges and Perigueux (30-45 minutes by car) are well worth a visit. These places bustle with history.
Le Chatain is very quietly located so you are in the midst of nature. When it is dark, it is really dark and you can enjoy a starry sky, but also the call of the owls.
In summer there are often many festivities in the area, (flea) markets that are great fun to visit, and there are also plenty of opportunities for food and drink.

If you would like to bring your dog, we charge a fee of €50 per dog, per stay. As with the deposit, this will be settled directly with us as landlord.
