The house
La Amelia is also a 2x bed cottage, which has been decorated in a New England Style. You enter the front door into a large airy lounge / dining room,with comfortable sofa`s, a stunning cream wood burning stove, Sat Tv, Dvd player and WiFi then step up into the well equipped airy kitchen, with a washing machine, dishwasher and lots of stand alone painted kitchen units , offering plenty of storage.
The kitchen has two skylights and a double window, so is flooded with natural light.
Travelling upstairs to a double bedroom, with comfortable french bed, lots of storage with an ensuite(Jack and Jill) with good sized shower unit, wash basin and toilet. The 2nd bedroom has twin beds and also a door into the shower room.
From the lounge you have a door to the back garden, with a seating area with outside table and chairs and BBQ in front of our wonderful 10 x 5meter swimming pool, with lots of loungers as well as large sunshades. For safety our swimming pool is fitted with an alarm

The cottages are set in approximately 1 and half acres of their own grounds, with the front gardens landscaped and a lazy meandering path leading to the road, which is a stones throw from Lake Mondon .
Our back garden has been transformed by a 10m x 5m in ground swimming pool (4ft deep) and sunbathing terrace, there are shingled outside areas for each cottage where hours can be spent relaxing and rejuvenating or reading a book, with a glass of wine under the shade of huge parasols.
There are local shops and supermarkets with a 5 miles radius, or for the larger supermarket there is La Souterraine or St Benoit.
Our cottages are approximately a 10 minute drive from Junction 22 of the A20.

Wat een heerlijk verblijf is dit huisje. Het ligt er prachtig vlakbij een groot meer en je kunt genieten van de rust van het buitenleven. Het huisje zelf is zeer knus en gezellig ingericht. Bovendien is het schoon en van alle gemakken voorzien. Het was heerlijk deze warme zomerdagen, want zelfs toen het extreem warm buiten was, bleef het huisje heerlijk koel. Daarnaast is er een geweldig lekker zwembad om af te koelen in de zeer ruime tuin achter. Fijn ook dat het huisje zo’n mooie keuken heeft met vaatwasser en wasmachine. Echt een aanrader dit appartement!

Prachtig huisje, afwerking binnen is van heel hoog niveau. Ook buiten prima vertoeven, erg fijn zwembad en groot veld met trampoline waar kinderen leuk kunnen spelen. In de buurt zijn diverse leuke dorpjes, meertjes en riviertjes. Binnen een uur rijden vind je van alles, van pretparken en dierentuinen tot kastelen. Spijtig was wel dat het meer (Lac Mondon, op 2 min lopen) geen zwemmeer bleek te zijn. Desalniettemin leuk speeltuintje bij het meer en mogelijkheden om wat kikkers, visjes en kreeftjes te vangen (uiteraard vooral leuk voor kleinere kinderen). Een aanrader voor gezinnen met jonge kinderen!

Prachtig huisje, goed verzorgd, schoon en van alle gemakken voorzien! Wij hebben het prima naar onze zin gehad met 2 tieners.
Restaurants, food & wine
There are two restaurants / bars overlooking Lake Mondon, both within a few minutes walk of our cottages.
Activities
For the slightly more adventurous, just a 2 minute walk away, opposite the lake is a communal swimming pool with waterslides. On the lake there are pedaloes for hire and in the peak season there are often donut boat rides. This site also offers tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts and boules. (all these amenities for a nominal fee)
There are also many stunning wooded walks along the banks of the river La Benaize, with waterfalls and prehistoric rocks (dolman), where you will find an abundance of wildlife.
For the fishing enthusiast a `carte de peche` can be purchased for a half / full day or weekly ticket.
