The house
Nestled in the heart of Rochechouart, Numéro 66, is a delightful apartment with fantastic views over the adjacent valley. The apartment provides high quality accommodation and as soon as you arrive you will be struck by the attention to detail that your hosts Karen and Peter have provided. The comfortable double bedroom is light and airy. Lovely stone steps lead up to a fully equipped living area, and good sized shower room. There is a private patio with table and chairs - ideal for enjoying an evening sundowner. There is secure on site parking for one car and you can also use the heated out door swimming pool during the day, this is our family home and the pool is situated in our garden but you are very welcome to use it. The pool is only for use by you as guests and ourselves. It is available for use between 09.00 and 17.00 but can be available later by agreement.

Rochechouart is situated within the Limousin which is within the region of Nouvelle Aquitaine in the South West of France.. It is a comfortable 7 hour drive from Calais and around 5.5 hours from Dieppe. We are situated within The Parc Naturel Régional Périgord Limousin and the Parc Naturel Régional de Millevaches en Limousin is nearby. The towns of Limoges, famous for its porcelain and enamel, and Périgeux, which is noted for truffles and Fois Gras, are within easy reach and are wonderful to explore. Angoulême and Cognac are also within easy distance.for a day trip.

The town centre, parts of which are medieval, is a few minutes stroll away with eateries, shops, cafes and a beautiful chateau which houses a museum of modern art.
Activities
We are situated in the beautiful Limousin region, within which there are endless lakes and rivers where you can sail, canoe, kayak and fish. With such a small population and so much open land, the opportunity for outdoors sport and leisure is wonderful. Every few kilometres there’s a beautiful view where you can drink in: medieval hilltop villages, imposing châteaux, steep valleys, high cliffs and promontories, gorgeous gorges and luscious lakes. The Limousin is truly a paradise for outdoor pursuits.. The Village of the Martyrs at Oradour-Sur-Glane is 30 minutes away. The theme park Futuroscope is 1 hour and 50 minutes away. Futuroscope, or Parc du Futuroscope is a French theme park based upon multimedia, cinematographic and audio-visual techniques. It has several 3D cinemas and a few 4D cinemas along with other attractions and shows, some of which are the only examples in the world.. Rochechouart lies on the Route de Richard Cœur de Lion, a discovery route in the south-west of Haute-Vienne from Charente to the gates of Dordogne and Corrèze.. The 200 km route brings together 23 sites of historic interest recalling the life and tragic fate of Richard the Lionheart who was fatally wounded at Chalais, a short distance from here.

Rochechouart is served by Limoges airport which is 30 minutes away. Car hire is available from the airport and Ryanair operate a frequent service from several UK airports. Limoges Benedictine railway station is 40 minutes away with frequent services to and From Paris. The journey time is about 3.5 hours. Transfers from both the airport and station can be arranged upon request.
