The house

Beau Maison is a self contained village house with it's own private garden and decked patio area. The house is situated in a narrow cobbled street with parking for two cars, a stone's throw from the Vienne river and beautiful surrounding countryside. As you enter the house you come into the fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, everything you need for a comfortable stay. Into the hall, you will find a self contained walk in wet room with separate basin, there is also a dishwasher and washer/dryer in the hall area. Next door to the hall is the living room with a comfortable sofa and chairs, TV with French and English channels, a DVD player and a selection of films for your entertainment. There is also a dining area with table and chairs. There is free WiFi throughout the house.
Upstairs you will find the three bedrooms, all with double beds. The first bedroom has it's own en suite bathroom with large walk in shower, toilet and washbasin. Bedroom two has access to the private screened garden with it's decked patio/dining area. Bedroom three is slightly smaller but still comfortably has a double bed, hanging rail and set of drawers. There is a hairdryer for guest use along with shampoo, shower gel and hand wash. We provide quality bedding and towels for guest use at no added charge. Also on the first floor there is a small separate toilet and hand basin. Please note that the only access to the private garden is upstairs via bedroom two.

Beau Maison is situated in the village of Le Vigeant. approximately and hour away from Limoges and 45 minutes from Poitiers. Both of these historical cities have an abundance of shops, restaurants and bars, as well as mainline train stations and small airports, with budget airline routes to Europe and the UK. Poitiers also has the popular Futuroscope, a family theme park with an emphasis on technology and visual effects. Closer to the gite is the small town of L'isle-Jourdain, which has all the amenities that you need for your stay with two supermarkets, a boulangerie, tabac, bank, petrol station, hairdressers, pharmacy and doctor's surgery. There is also a weekly and monthly market in the square offering local meats, cheeses and vegetables.

Restaurants, food & wine

At the bottom of Rue Alexandre Bessaguet and nestling along the river front you will find the popular Barrage restaurant, which offers traditional French "Plat De Jour", as well as an a la Carte menu. Five minutes walk further to the left and you will find Les Reflets de la Vienne restaurant, which offers a European/French menu, with spectacular views of the river and Viaduct. At the top of the street there is the Viaduc Restaurant and Bar which serves pizzas, burgers and steaks. L'isle-Jourdain also has two restaurants; L'Esprit and Le 10. There are selection of lovely restaurants in the surrounding areas of Millac, Pressac, Confolens and Lussac Les Chateaux.

Activities

The house is surrounded by spectacular countryside where you can enjoy a wide selection of outdoor activities. The Vienne river is popular for fishing, canoeing and kayaking, and there is a local water sports centre where you can hire boats and discover the river and the other villages along it. At Queaux, ten minutes drive away, you will find a man made beach where you can swim in the river and in July and August there are free outdoor music events, where you can enjoy local food and drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. There is a new outdoor swimming pool in L'isle-Jourdain and for the more adventurous, bungee jumping and you can also take the zip wire across the river! The area is perfect for anyone that enjoys hiking or cycling, with numerous signed trails to explore the countryside. The Tourist Information Office in L'isle-Jourdain has a wide selection of free maps for you to plan your route. There is a riding school in Le Vigeant where you can rent horses for a lesson or group trek, an information flyer is available at the gite. The house is also ideally situated five minutes drive away from the popular Val de Vienne Circuit, which holds various classic car and motorcycle racing events throughout the year. The race course attracts drivers and spectators from around the world and the annual "Ferrari Weekend" at the beginning of June is a spectacular event. Also, if you have the time you can spend the day at the wonderful La Vallee Des Singes, approx. 25 minutes away, a unique 22 hectare zoological park with over 450 semi-free primates...it is truly a magical experience!
