The house
Looking for a nice place in the South of France to relax and enjoy? A lovely quiet place in nature where you can still taste real French life? We would like to welcome you in our first comfortable and spacious gite on our beautiful 13 hectare estate with swimming pool, amidst the rolling hills of the beautiful Ariège and with a view of the bison park. The gîte is built in the old farmhouse and has its own entrance to a large terrace. There is a luxurious country kitchen with living area, 2 bathrooms and wonderful large beds of hotel quality.
There is (deliberately) no TV, but there is a good WiFi connection for free.
Our beautiful heated swimming pool of 10x5 m has a wonderful view of the surroundings and will only be a private pool exclusively for you in 2020.
You can also enjoy a drink on the terrace at our Peugeot J7 bar van. We are happy to share all this beauty with you! We hope to see you soon!

There is so much to see, visit and experience in the immediate vicinity of Le Cammazet. Whether you like nature or culture, active and sporty or relaxed, quiet or cozy, familiar or challenging. Or maybe a little bit of everything?
To start within 2 minutes 2 beautiful nature parks; La Ferme aux Bisons with its many bisons, other special animals and petting zoo and the Parc aux Bambous with its enormous variety of bamboo and trees.
Less than half an hour away you will find beautiful small villages with beautiful church tower and fountains. The Medieval town of Mirepoix with its beautiful square with half-timbered houses with arcades and a great market on Monday are a 15-minute drive away. Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, are less than an hour away by car.
A day of culture and shopping is also possible in Toulouse. With a visit to the Aerospace museum? For true culture lovers, a visit to Albi with its beautiful center and cathedral should not be missed and Cahors, which is also on the UNESCO list.
If you are interested in the culture of the Cathars, there are many beautiful castles and ruins that are definitely worth a visit. You can also visit the Musée de la Préhistoire or Les Forges de Pyrenes, educational and fun.
For lovers of special nature, there are many caves and underground rivers. Furthermore, you are within one hour in the beautiful surroundings of the Pyrenees and within an hour and a half you can lie on one of the beautiful beaches or visit Andorra. Even a trip to beautiful Cadaques and Figueras at 3 hours drive, is possible with an overnight stay. We are happy to share our best addresses with you!
All seasons have their charm: spring with the fresh green fields and the snowy Pyrenees still in the background, summer with beautiful sunflower fields, markets and village festivals, autumn with its fine temperatures and splendor.
Good food, relaxing on a terrace, swimming, hiking, day trips, visiting local markets and flea markets, cycling, lunching or dining or even more fun joining the locals during a cozy village party with food, wine and music. Good times guaranteed!

Mooie gite met een fijn groot houten terras, fantastisch uitzicht op de omgeving.
Wij waren er begin september het weer was zeer aangenaam, genoten van de zon, het zwembad en de leuke stadjes in de omgeving.
Met man en zoon plus drie kleine hondjes een kanoën tocht gemaakt, prima geregeld door gastvrouw Annemiek.
Leuke mensen ontmoet bij de gezamenlijke Bbq georganiseerd door gastvrouw en gastheer.
Kleinschalig en persoonlijk dat sprak ons erg aan.
Keuze uit mooie safaritenten of een gite.
Misschien voor de afwisseling, gaan we de volgende keer een van de safaritenten uitproberen.
Wij komen zeker nog een keer die kant op.

Top gite op een unieke locatie!
Domaine du Camazette heeft alles wat je als vakantieganger zoekt. Comfort, ruimte en gezelligheid op het domein en in de gite. Daarnaast een omgeving waar je van de rust kunt genieten (domain, heuvels) maar ook heel actief kunt zijn (leuke plaatsjes, kastelen, zwemmen in riviertjes, parken bezoeken, wandelen). Aan alles is gedacht en de gastvrouw Annemiek en de gastheer Rendal staan altijd voor je klaar.
Restaurants, food & wine
What could be better than a good cup of coffee on our French terrace with a view of the rolling hills, bisons and deers or maybe your children playing in the pool?
It is possible at our Peugeot bar!. After a long search we found an old Peugeot J7 van that Rendal transformed into a bar. In front of the bar there is a covered terrace to sit in the shade. In the spring and autumn there is of course also enough space to sit in the sun.
We are almost always present at the domaine, but perhaps not always in the neighbourhood. If so, you can pour yourself a drink, make coffee or grab an ice cream and write down your consumptions in a notebook. We find trust very important and we would like to give this trust to our guests.
Three times a week we organize a table d'hôte. We then eat with all guests, young and old, at long tables. When the children are ready, they can play and the adults can relax afterwards with a drink. The evenings will be buffet style with lots of fresh salads and also vegetarian and vegan dishes. If you have a special diet or allergy, please let us know and we will do our utmost to take this into account. The table d'hôte is on reservation.
The nearest bakery is about 15 minutes drive from our domain. Unfortunately, they do not deliver and we are too small to bake ourselves. On Sunday you can order croissants, pains aux chocolats and pains aux raisins. On the other days we have delicious brown cereal breads and pain de campagne waiting for you in the morning.
You can pay for all your consumptions and food at the end of your stay with us. We do not have the ability to withdraw cash.
In the summer there are many village festivals in the Ariège where you as our guest are also very welcome. The evenings are usually in a large tent with long tables with delicious local food and lots of wine. The quality of the wine is not always top, but that is not the point. It is mainly about the fun. After dinner, the tables move to the side and the music starts. The locals are really happy because it is their annual party! If you like it, we will go to a local party with you and other guests and make a real Cammazet table!
You will also find the most delicious dishes and regional products in Ariège. Affordable menus and local specialties are served in the many cozy restaurants. If you have something to celebrate, a dinner at the Chateau de Camont is a special experience. At the Boulangeries, your mouth is watering and at the local markets you can buy the most delicious products to dive into the kitchen yourself.
Wine tasting on a château is also possible. We are not so far from the Corbières and the Minervois where beautiful wines are made. Or take a nice drive through the vineyards where the Blanquette de Limoux is made. This is a delicious local sparkling wine older than champagne. In the vicinity of Carcassonne you will find a number of producers of good 'vins naturels'.
Activities
On our domain you can relax by the pool with a beautiful view, walk across the fields or plays 'boules'. Children can build huts, swing or jump on the trampoline.
There are endless possibilities in the area to be active, sporty or cultural. To start, the two natural parks about 5 minutes drive: the Ferme aux bisons and the Parc aux Bambous. You can also enjoy a delicious lunch at both parks.
Half an hour away you will find cool lakes, rivers, hills, mountains and caves for swimming, cycling, walking and horse riding. There is a long list for the sporty types; cycling, mountain biking, rafting, canoeing, paragliding, carting, water skiing.
For the children there are climbing forests and water parks. If it is a bit quieter, you can just walk and cycle of course. Or a half day of golf combined with a visit to Carcassonne or Toulouse?
If once in a while, the weather is not so beautiful, we have many games in the reception that you can borrow to play together or with the whole family. When do you still have the opportunity in daily life?
In the spring our fruit trees are full of cherries. In July and August there are figs and plums. Do you help pick and taste?
Whether you come with the whole family, with young children or young people, as a couple or alone, you will not be bored for a second. Unless you opt for that, of course, because doing nothing now and then can also be wonderful!
