The house
If you like the atmosphere of authentic France , as it was in the romantic old movies , you should definitely visit the holiday home "La bastide des Roses", located in Ariège, a pure , beautiful natural region with ancient villages, sparkling rivers, waterfalls and mountains, located at the foot of the Pyrenees . The house is located in the village of La Bastide sur L'Hers where you can take a pleasant walk under the plane trees next to the trout river , the L'Hers. During the summer months lively village festivals take place here every Thursday evening , with good food, dancing and music.
The holiday home is a seventeenth-century village house with lots of charm and a nostalgic atmosphere. A perfect balance has been found between new and authentic interior elements; Take a dip in the large, communal saltwater swimming pool (shared with 3 other families), enjoy the cosy (private) garden, with age-old trees, and English roses, or drink a glass of wine on one of the terraces. The bedrooms each have a private terrace, The house is also ideal for two families, because then each has its own living room, TV and kitchen, so the necessary privacy to withdraw. At 100 m from the house runs a fantastic bike path, in the former bed of a railway line . You can cycle on it for hours , you pass cute villages, you sometimes dive into tunnels (where then light automatically flashes on) you pass the lake of Montbel, and you also have direct connection to mountain bike routes . In the house there are two mountain bikes at your disposal. You can also rent bikes in the immediate vicinity.
For the fishermen among us, this house is also a haven: the river L'Hers, at 200 m. is very rich in fish, there is fly-fishing, the lake of Montbel is at 4 km, furthermore I can tell you a secret place: a river through a rocky gorge which is breathtakingly beautiful!

Holiday home "La Bastide des roses" is a paradise for walkers, cyclists and horse riders because of its location on the Voie Vert, an old railway track where you can now cycle, walk and ride for hours. The village is situated in a region with a very varied landscape: mountains, rivers, forests, fertile plains and meadows.
The village is situated in the heart of Cathar country : the Monségur castle can be admired on the hills behind the house in the distance on a clear day.

Heerlijke week vakantie gehad. Wij zaten er begin oktober.
Heel mooi huisje met genoeg ruimte voor 4/5 personen. Alles aanwezig wat we nodig hadden.
Prima gastvrouw Mia. Goed telefonisch contact mee.
Mooi zwembad erbij. Wel koud, maar ja het was begin oktober dus kon ook niet anders haha.
Dorpje zelf is niet heel bijzonder. Gebeurt weinig. Maar er is een supermarktje, café, bakker, slager en af en toe staat er ook een etenskar op het plein (veelal een pizza wagen). Maar in buurt (auto afstanden) liggen vele mooie plaatsjes met natuurlijk hun marktjes.
Mooie grote tuin erbij. Mooi uitzicht.
Vlak bij dorp loopt ook een mooie fiets route (voie verte) op een traject van een vroegere spoorbaan. Iets van 60 km lang.

Superbedankt voor uw mooi commentaar voor de vakantiewoning ! Als de nazomer zonnig is in de Ariège is de streek adembenemend mooi met al de herfstkleuren , dat zal zeker een rol gespeeld hebben .

Ook wij hebben een week genoten van de met smaak ingerichte en van alle gemakken - waaronder wifi - voorziene gîte. We hadden daarnaast het fantastische gezamenlijke zwembad dat ook gebruik wordt voor ons zelf omdat het de andere bewoners op dat moment niet in hun vakantiewoning aanwezig waren. De grote verrassing was dat de achterzijde van de gîte via een mooie ouderwetse overspannen poort met de auto bereikbaar is. Daar achter bevind zich een grote oase waar je de auto ruim kunt parkeren. Ook het zwembad bevindt zich daar.
In de omgeving is van alle te doen. Van een voie vert van 60 km over een voormalige spoorlijn, mooie wandelroutes, dagmarkten (Mirepoix op zondagochtend is een must) in de directe omgeving tot het bezoeken van de oude Katharen burchten. Carcassonne en Canal du Midi liggen op 1 uur rijden. Bezoek ook zeker Quillan en rijdt dan verder over de D117 door de magnifieke Gorges de la Pierre Lys, Deze D117 brengt je uiteindelijk via Maury met haar gelijknamige wijnen via Perpingnan naar Canet Plage met haar lange zandstranden. Wel een rit van bijna 2 uur rijden (100 km) maar zoals al geschreven een fantastisch mooie route die onlangs geheel is vernieuwd. Op 4,5 kilometer in Laroque-d'Olmes vindt je een grote supermarkt, tankstation en een McD.
We hebben ons een week zeer welkom gevoeld. Dat mede dankzij het door ons als hartelijk en zeer prettig ervaren contact met Mia. Dat gold overigens ook voor de lokale bevolking. Kortom een aanrader want de streek heeft veel meer te bieden dan dat je wellicht op het 1e oog verwacht.
TIP: Bezoek op 20 minuten rijden richting Montségur net buiten Beleste aan de D9 zeker ook Fontaine de Fontestorbes en het daar tegenover gelegen restaurant K’Bane Fontestorbes. Fantastisch Franse keuken met dito eigenaren. Gastvrijheid met een grote G. In tijden niet zo lekker gegeten en prima geprijsd. Je moet in het seizoen wel reserveren. We hebben fijne weken gehad in het huis en van daaruit goed de omgeving kunnen verkennnen. Het huisje is smaakvol ingericht en we hadden een fijn zwembad tot onze beschikking. Zeker de eerste week hebben we volop zon gehad. Jammer dat er niet zoveel te doen meer was in het dorpje. We hebben gegeten bij restaurant La Maison en daar konden we op loopafstand naar toe.

Food lovers will be in their element in the gite: "La Bastide des roses"! In the morning, you can quickly walk outside to buy fresh baguettes and croissants at the bakery to enjoy a delicious breakfast. At neighbouring butcher you can still find home-smoked ham, delicious pies of wild boar, hare, duck etc....
Every Tuesday you can go to the market square, 40 metres away, to order delicious paella in the morning : a man starts working on his enormous pan and by 11 o'clock you can collect your portions. And in July and August there are long tables ready in the village: every Thursday evening at 18h the culinary evening starts: around the tables there are stalls with all kinds of delicacies, wine growers, you can feast the whole evening and listen to music and even later : do a dance ! At walking distance from the house there is a very refined restaurant L'Oustalet, with super cuisine and delicious wines, a terrace by the river, in short a discovery, and for a quick snack or refreshment you can go to the tapas bar Alegria.
Also the markets in the area , among others in Mirepoix are an experience in itself with many craft products : cheeses , trout , vineyard snails , honey too many to mention.
The famous wine regions Corbières, Malpère, Fitou and not to forget Blanquette de Limoux are all within reach waiting for your visit !
Activities
The gîte is a 17th century village house . The house is located in a romantic village : La Bastide sur l'Hers , on the banks of the trout river : the L'Hers, where it is great fishing. There is also fly-fishing on the river. The nearby lake "Montbel" is also very rich in fish. You can rent boats for sunbathing and fishing. Lately, the sports facilities at the lake are being expanded! What could be better than renting a paddle and letting yourself go on the water. Standing upright , but also stretching out and then watching the beautiful nature around you , your vngers gliding in the soft water . Afterwards enjoy the beach bar with fresh dishes .
Behind the garden of the house runs the "Voie verte", an old railway transformed into a bike, horse and walking route , here you can spend hours cycling, walking and riding on a beautiful trail , with railway tunnels, impressive bridges and sometimes a rustic village to take a break or eat something. In the nearby villages you will find several riding stables to go horse riding. But you can also just walk from the Rue Louis Pasteur: this is a GR path of a route to Santiago de la Compostela: discover the winding paths in the early evening and then relax in the spa with a glass of wine: blissful! Then in the morning, quickly go around the corner to get baguettes and croissants and have breakfast on the sunny terrace. Within walking distance of the house there is a restaurant with a terrace on the edge of the river.
Nearby you can also go rafting and kayaking, cycling along the Canal du Midi, in short, you won't get bored with sports.
You simply must visit the nearby Cathar castles, the mystical surroundings there are breathtakingly beautiful. There are unlimited marked trails along the most beautiful natural phenomena. In the cottage there are tips for day trips.
An hour's drive and you are in the high mountains: e.g. in Ax les Thermes you can take the gondola up in the morning, then a brisk walk back to the mountain town and then recover in the thermal baths: blissful! Andorra is a little further away.
The house is an hour's drive from the historic city of Carcassonne, bustling Toulouse and the old port of Perpignan, excellent for day trips.

Holiday home "La Bastide des roses" indicated for 6 persons, there is also room for a small child. There is everything for a baby: cot, high chair, toys ....
The arrival time is 5 pm , and the departure at 10 am .

Linen and towels are offered at €20 per person. On arrival, the beds are neatly made and all towels, beach towels, kitchen towels and bathrobes are ready. In spring and autumn the evenings can be chilly : you can buy a wood package for 40 euros per week
