The house
Situated just outside the pretty village of Loubens in the Occitanie Region of South West France and within the Ariege Regional Natural Park yet only one hour from both Toulouse and Carcassonne. Gite Menezil is a comfortable, well equipped holiday home providing the perfect base for exploring this beautiful corner of France. Foix, our departmental capital with it's stunning castle is only 10 minutes away and medieval Mirepoix with it's vibrant market is nearby. A lovely rural setting - but not isolated.
Gite Menezil has one king-size double bedroom and one bunk bedroom (ONLY suitable only for children or ONE adult), a shower room and separate WC. There is a cosy, open-plan lounge and dining area with a kitchen equipped with a cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and all standard electrical appliances. French Satellite TV is provided as well as DVD and CD / Radio players. WiFi internet access is provided free of charge. All bed and household linen is included in rental prices.

Gite Menezil is located within the Ariège Pyrénées Regional Nature Park about 1 hour South of Toulouse, North of Andorra & Spain, West of Carcassonne and about 2 hours East of Lourdes / Tarbes. We're in a rural cattle farming area about halfway between both Foix and Pamiers - both about 10-15 minutes away by car. Easy access by air, road and rail links and a car is essential for your stay with us. Essentially, we're in the foothills of the Pyrenees with lots to explore in every direction. We have 2 adjoining gites - Melanie and Menezil, both with their own private facilities.

The Southwest cuisine is celebrated throughout France and exported worldwide and we're lucky enough to enjoy it every day! We have many good value restaurants and shops in the area who use and sell the local 'larder' - from duck, veal, Gascony beef, Bethmale cheeses and rich Ariege wines through to local specialities like Aligot, Cassoulet, Pain Perdu and Croustades. In the Summer months we are surrounded by magnificent fruit and vegetables - many of which you can pick for yourself! The Ariege is green and full of choices to please every taste.
Activities
Most visitors to our region come to explore and experience the many outdoor activities on offer! If you're looking for an activity based holiday with cosy accommodation and surroundings to relax in at the end of your day, then Gite Menezil is the place for you. There are endless walking trails from easy family friendly ones to much more challenging ones throughout the Pyrenees. If you love water sports then the Ariege can offer a great choice from white-water rafting and canoeing, though to tele-skiing and canyoning. You can walk through tree tops or explore the magnificent prehistoric past of the region. Lovers of the great outdoors will be right at home in the Ariege Pyrenees!

Further remarks
Gite Menezil, and her adjoining Gite Melanie are accessed by 10 small steps - not suitable for people with reduced mobility. Free roadside parking is provided on the opposite side of the road to the gites - one car per gite.
