The house
L'Ostaladon Fènial is a gite of about 80 m2, very suitable for 5 (possibly 6) persons and has its own driveway with parking. Around the house are terraces and meadows where you can relax. Fènial was resurrected on its foundations and rebuilt with authentic materials, sturdy wooden beams, solid stone walls and a handmade slate roof. The gite is tastefully furnished in a rustic style and equipped with all comforts.
Downstairs you will find the open kitchen with large dining table, a cosy sitting area with two doors opening onto the large terrace with stunning views over the Aveyron valley. On the ground floor you will also find the bathroom with shower and toilet. The floor and wall tiles are handmade and painted and come from the region; already in Roman times, terracotta objects were made here. The tiles with the wood and the rustic plaster create a characteristic atmosphere. In the cold months, the house is heated with aerothermal energy, which is also used to produce hot water. For fun, there is also a wood-burning stove.
On the first floor you will find three bedrooms, one of which is a large romantic bedroom with a balcony where you will find a comfortable double bed of 160x200. The second bedroom is a cosy room with two single beds that can also be used as a double bed. The third bedroom is a small cosy room with a single bed and can also be used as a baby room. Ask us for the necessary children's or baby equipment. All beds have excellent innerspring mattresses and the sofa bed of the living room can be transformed into an extra bed of 160x200.
Our swimming pool is a modern electrolysis bath of 13 x 6 meters; this is very friendly for the eyes and skin and without the irritations as with a traditional chlorine bath. Around the pool are large terraces with loungers and parasols and a large roof under which you can eat, read and play games. In the hammocks you can take a siesta to be fit again for the evening. The house has a large barbeque, but there is also a barbeque and a pizza oven by the pool that can be used.

Our estate La Bòria de Salères lies hidden in the hilly foothills of the Massif Central, between the villages Brandonnet and Maleville. There, on a hill, you will find our magnificently restored farmhouse with outbuildings from the 18th century. Two outbuildings have been resurrected on the old foundations and built into cosy gites, "L'Ostaladon Fenial" and "Lo Torrilh Secadouiro", which can be rented together or separately. The estate is wonderfully isolated on a dead-end road at an altitude of about 550 m., therefore the nights are almost never hot and the daytime is a few degrees cooler than down in the valley. Our guests praise the peace and quiet on the estate and the countless stars in the sky at night...
The farmhouse and the gites are situated together with the swimming pool, the barn and the stone oven on a hill with a truly magnificent view over the Aveyron valley! This together with the total silence makes that you automatically go back three gears in your pace of life... Doucement, ça va loin...' they say here.
For the children there is a table tennis table, air hockey and football table in the barn, and around the pool there is a trampoline, a swing and hammocks. The grounds offer enough space for ball games, blackberry picking and in the gite there are games, toys, comic books and DVDs.
When wood is searched for, it is fun to make a big campfire in the evening. Swimming under the beautiful starry sky is also one of the possibilities. During the high season the owner is present to welcome you and show you around. Baking your own pizza and bread in the stone oven is a real treat.

Deze plek is in 1 woord fantastisch, maar 1 woord is niet voldoende om de schoonheid van Saleres te omschrijven.
We hebben een heerlijke week gehad in L'Ostaladon Fenial. Het huisje is smaakvol en compleet ingericht
Alles wat je nodig zou kunnen hebben, is aanwezig. Voor de kinderen zijn er ook spelletjes en er liggen dvd's. Hier hebben we geen gebruik van hoeven maken want het was fantastisch weer en we lagen dan ook veel in het zwembad.
In de omgeving zijn veel kastelen te bezichtigingen en de kasteelruïne le Roc is indrukwekkend.
1 avond hebben we samen met José en Marielle pizza's gebakken in de pizzaoven. Heerlijke pizza's gegeten in goed gezelschap.

Wij logeerden in het huisje voor 5 à 6 personen.
Zeer mooi huisje, mooi afgewerkt en zeer proper onderhouden. Wij hadden niet zo´n goed weer, waardoor we wel een dag eens in het huisje moesten blijven. Alles benodigdheden zijn aanwezig, ook in de keuken.
Ook de eigenaars zijn zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ook zeer kindvriendelijk, heel wat zaken zijn aanwezig voor hen.

Een prachtige, schone, verzorgde vakantiewoning, van alle gemakken voorzien….en meer!
Het is op elk vlak te merken van José en Marielle het belangrijk vinden dat de gasten zich thuis voelen en dat zij ontzorgd worden. Ze zijn gastvrij, hartelijk, toegankelijk en hebben oog voor detail. Als ouders van twee jonge kinderen waren wij blij verrast met de aanwezigheid van: kinderbedden, beddengoed, kinderstoel, speelgoed, uitgebreid keukeninventaris, de vele aanwezige handdoeken, etc. Zij laten met kleine dingen weten dat ze zich verdiept hebben in wie er komen, door een leuke zwembad handdoek klaar te leggen, passend bij het kind. (Stoere haaien handdoek voor de jongen en ijsjes handdoek voor het meisje bijvoorbeeld)
De bedden waren zeer comfortabel en alles werkt perfect naar behoren.
De omgeving is rustig en de lokale bewoners zeer hartelijk. Een absolute aanrader als je met je gezin toe bent aan rust en een verfrissende duik in het heerlijke zwembad met geweldig uitzicht.
Restaurants, food & wine
In the area of gastronomy, everything is possible; there are two beautiful wine regions in the vicinity and there are many local dishes. From time immemorial, the region has played a significant role in French cuisine. And what is more fun than to have lunch or dinner in a local restaurant and enjoy under the trees all the delicious things the region has to offer. In the summer months, there is a village festival going on almost every day and it is great to eat and dance in a relaxed atmosphere. It is also possible that during your stay there will be a party at Salères, sometimes we hold our village festival there and then you are cordially invited. In the cottages you will find a list of the restaurants in the region and the vineyards that we keep as "purveyors".
Activities
In the vicinity of Salères there is plenty to do and see or experience. For example, the beautiful bastide city of Villefranche de Rouergue; Najac with its imposing castle and picturesque village on the hilltop; Peyrusse Le Roc, an important but bygone city of the Middle Ages; Rodez with its impressive cathedral and the brand new Soulages museum; Conques on the pilgrim's route; the beautiful Albi with its immense cathedral-burcht and the wonderful Toulouse-Lautrec museum; and so on. In the region you will also find many picturesque villages where time seems to stand still, you will find castles and fortresses and very nice markets where local farmers still sell their products. In the summer months, there is a village festival almost every day in the area; you can enjoy delicious food and a good glass of wine in a pleasant atmosphere. In the direct surroundings there are several possibilities for walking from Salères, you can swim in the river Aveyron or canoe down the river. The experienced cyclist can make beautiful bike rides through the hilly landscape and horse riders can make beautiful trips with horses. But you can also relax in the house and around the swimming pool or on one of the terraces with a glass of wine, enjoying the peace, the view, a good book and of course the good life...
In short, your stay at Salères can be enriched culturally or you can go out into nature and enjoy all the beauty that the region has to offer.

Further remarks
Unfortunately, there is no bakery in our own village, but the restaurant is open and easy to reach on foot through the woods. At about 7 km. lies the village Lanuéjouls where you will find two bakeries, a butcher, pharmacy, some shops and a supermarket. At 13 km is the beautiful town of Villefranche de Rouergue, where you will find everything and there are two hypermarchés where you can get everything. Villefranche also has a railway station with connections to Toulouse or Paris (via Brive). Rodez airport has regular connections to Paris, Brussels, London and Dublin. The airport of Toulouse has 3x daily flights to Amsterdam.
On the Salères estate you will also find the second gite: Lo Torrilh Secadouiro, which was once the old chestnut and bread oven that has been rebuilt and is now suitable for occupancy by up to 2 people. It is a cosy and atmospheric gite of approx. 42 m2 divided over 3 floors; for more information, visit the website of gites.nl and search for "Lo Torrilh Secadouiro". Both gites can be rented together for up to 7 people, feel free to ask about the possibilities. The combination is ideal for a family that wants to go on holiday with (grand)parents, but still wants to keep their own privacy. The gites are about 90m apart.
Outside are a barbecue and a fireplace available. If desired, a cot, highchair, baby bath and other equipment for small children or babies can be arranged. Furthermore, a DVD player (and a cabinet with films on DVD) are available. We do not have Wi-Fi but the major mobile networks are available in 4G for internet and telephony.
For completeness, the pool and its facilities are shared with the guests of the cottage "Lo Torrilh Secadouiro" and the owner.
Your hosts are Mariëlle and José, they are Dutch and also speak French, English, German and Spanish. They will give you a warm welcome to Salères and are ready to give you all kinds of tips for day trips or visits.

Additional price info and offers
The rental week always runs from Saturday 17:00 to Saturday 09:00. The rental price includes the consumption of electricity and water and taxes are also included. The rental price also includes the use of bed linen and towels, all linen is provided at no extra cost. The cleaning fee for final cleaning is compulsory. Pets are unfortunately not welcome, due to allergies and hygiene.
The deposit upon booking is 50% of the rent. The remaining 50% and the deposit must be paid into our account eight weeks before arrival. The deposit will be refunded to you after your holiday if there are no issues to be settled with the deposit, such as damage caused to the house, furnishings or facilities during your holiday.
