The house

  • Quiet, rural area with some agricultural activity

The cottage is in a rural setting. It is situated in an old stone farm sympathetically restored, which can house up to 12 people.
It features garden-views, with plenty of trees, and extensive grounds offering far reaching views onto the hills and valleys around.
This is an ideal place for spending a quiet and private holiday, enjoying the pleasurable moments this area can afford.
On the ground floor, you will find a large hall, a lounge, a kitchen/dining-room and a back kitchen, with all the necessary equipment, as well as a double bedroom, bathroom and toilet.
On the first floor, there are 4 more double bedrooms, a large bathroom with shower, and wc, and a spacious hall. Two of the bedrooms can house 3.
This place is a very comfortable and friendly one. The Kitchen is well equipped for self-catering, with all the necessary crockery and cutlery, an electric oven, cooktop, and microwave, as well as 2 coffee machines (espresso and traditional), a dish washer, a washing machine, a dryer, and a large fridge/freezer in the cellar. The lounge has a flat screen TV, and the accommodation comes with free Wi-Fi access everywhere in the house.
It has central heating (wood), and a wood burner in the lounge for chillier evenings.
The surroundings of the house are lovely, with lots of shady spots, so that you can choose to rest either in the sun or in the shade.
In front of the house is a pleasant courtyard, and the back offers spectacular views to the surrounding hills. This is where you will find the swimming pool (above ground) with deck chairs, a sheltered table with chairs, and a table tennis and a table football.
Under the trees large tables will welcome you for your meals in the shade. An antique bread oven is even to be seen.
Last but not least, the cottage is not yet suitable for the wheelchair. Depending on the situation, the ground floor part could be adapted. Please contact us for your specific needs.
Ample parking space is available at the entrance of the cottage.

The house is located in Aveyron, but is quite close to the departments of Tarn, Tarn et Garonne, and Lot. And these four departments have a lot to offer. Aveyron is well-known for its many valleys, and picturesque villages to be glimpsed at from a bend of the road. Najac, for instance, is quite close to the cottage, and, is rated one of the most beautiful villages in France, and well worth visiting, with its castle on top. Cordes-sur-ciel, as well, an ancient village perched on of a hill, will remind you of Toscany, and in Sauveterre de Rouergue you will enjoy many delicious local specialties.
Albi, the red town, because of the bricks it's made of, can boast an impressive cathedral, and a unique Toulouse Lautrec gallery. And of course, Rodez and Toulouse are well worth a visit.
Millau is 85 kms away, it has a recent viaduct, famed the highest in the world. And you mustn't miss the Roquefort -sur-Soulzon natural cave-cellars where a remarkable sheep cheese is matured.
From May onwards, many festivities take place in the surrounding villages, including markets of all sorts displaying local crafts, antiques and above all fresh fruit and vegetables from all over the area.
The nearest airport is Rodez, with flights straight to and from England, and the nearest train station is 7 kms from the cottage, in Naucelle.

We had a wonderful stay at David’s gite.
The house was nice and exceptionally clean when we arrived!
David is a very friendly and helpful host, aswell as his two housemates that also took care of everything.
For instance we brought a small inflatable swimming pool for our 1 yr old, and every morning they would clean, refresh the water and inflate it again whilst this wasn’t even their responsability.
The garden was perfect, there was more than enough possibility to sit in the shadow and in the evening you could sit on the terras where he even installed a fridge and some lights.
We would definately recommend a visit to everyone!
Thanks David for everything, and maybe we will come back another year!

De omheinde tuin was extra fijn i.v.m. onze hond. We gaan hier zeker terugkomen!
