The house

Our charming gite has been renovated with care and attention ensuring that as much of the original building can be enjoyed whilst ensuring comfort and all the facilities you would expect to find in a holiday home.
Enter through the original oak doors into the entrance hall which leads into the fully equipped kitchen with views of the Pyrenees. The kitchen with its stone and pebble walls and original windows is spacious with plenty of room to cook and dine. The dining table seats 6 comfortably and the kitchen includes an oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. For the cooler months you will find the woodburner in the kitchen which warms the entire gite.
Leading off the kitchen is the large family room with shower room and toilet. This spacious room can sleep a maximum of 4 guests in one double bed and two single beds and offers beautiful mountain views. The shower room includes a large shower, toilet and sink.

Upstairs you will find the lounge, double bedroom and another shower room. The lounge is a relaxing and open space with the beautiful roof beams exposed and velux windows letting in plenty of light. Comfy sofas, a flat screen TV, DVD player and internet channels along with a wide range of dvd's, books and games for you to enjoy mean that there is something for the whole family to enjoy.
The master bedroom with king size bed has exposed beams and stone walls, the velux window floods the room with light and allows you to see the stars whilst lying in bed. Between the bedroom and lounge is the shower room with shower, sink and toilet.

Castelvieilh is a small village in the Haute Pyrenees, our closest town is Tarbes which is easily within a 20 minute drive. Heading into the Pyrenees is easy with the spa and market town of Bagneres de Bigorre just 30 km away and the Pyrenean range open to you. If you want the sea then Biarritz is within a 2 hour drive.

    Geweldige week gehad. Mooi huisje, gastvrij ontvangst en Amy en James en hun dochters zijn zeer behulpzame en aardige hosts die het verblijf extra bijzonder maken.

Local delicacies include Duck, Foie Gras, Pork, Boudin, Garbure, Haricots Tarbais.
There are a wide choice of restaurants to choose from in Tarbes, Trie Sur Baise and Tournay. We also offer evening meals which include 3 courses and wine or beer.

Activities

We are located in the Haute Pyrenees and have easy access to mountains, lakes and culture.
Cycling - If you are a keen cyclist the roads here are perfect with famous climbs such as the Col du Tourmalet, Col d'Aspin and Horquette easily within a days cycling. We can help to organise bike hire ahould you need it.
ATB - We are surrounded by forests and lakes which means you can head out straight from the gite or being so close to the Baronnies and the Pyrenees you can choose to ride the mountain and forest trails a little further afield.
Walking/Hiking - There are so many walks you can do locally or further afield - if you want to challenge yourself a little head into the mountains to hike some of the GR10 routes or you can walk part of the Camino de Santiago.
Lakes/Watersports - Locally we have Lac D'arret Darre which offers SUP hire, picnic benches and a small park. Further afield there are a huge number of lakes within easy driving reach which offer multiple water sports and more.
Skiing - La Mongie is within an hours drive, you can see the mountain from the gite and if you like the look of the conditions then simply jump into the car!
Swimming - Wild swimming is possible in local rivers or lakes or you can head into Tarbes for a public pool, they have an outdoor pool open in the Summer months with slides and water park.
