The house
La Roque is a beautifully converted village house, whose history dates back to the 17th century. There are four fully-fledged bedrooms, a spacious living room and a modern dining kitchen with a cooking island. With a partly covered terrace and a south-facing garden, the house offers many possibilities to choose between sun or shade.
La Roque has over 140 m2 of living space and a sunny garden of about 80 m2 with a spacious terrace, part of which is covered.
The pool area can be closed off with a fence, so it is also suitable for small children.
You enter the house in a small hall, where you also find a toilet. A few steps lead down to the spacious, sunny living/dining kitchen. The kitchen is modern and efficient. This room has a very high ceiling with original old beams and large windows facing South East. Magnificent views.
The whole house has beautiful antique tiled floors.
From the kitchen and the living room you can walk straight to the terrace. Through the terrace you enter the "buanderie" where the washing machine is.
Through the kitchen you enter the spacious living room. There is a TV with DVD player and a stereo system for CDs or MP3 players and a bookcase.
Via corridor and stairs you reach the first floor. There are three bedrooms: two with a double bed of 160 x 200, and one with two single beds of 90 x 200. Furthermore, on this floor there is a separate toilet and a bathroom with washbasin, shower and an antique bathtub on legs.
Next to the house is a private parking space for two cars.

La Roque is in a small rural hamlet; Tudery. Only a few kilometres from the lively market town of Saint-Chinian (Thursdays and Sundays a great local market, cosy and delicious fresh produce direct from the producer (don't forget to try the oysters!).
You can walk to Saint-Chinian via a dirt road, a bit of a climb on the way back, but it is the old route to Saint-Chinian.
Tudery is surrounded by vineyards, directly from the house there are special walks.

Wij hebben een heel aangename week met kinderen en kleindochter doorgebracht in La Roque.
De comfortabele, rustig gelegen woning is ons zeer goed bevallen.
Ook de mooie uitzichten, de wijngaarden en de gezellige dorpjes in de buurt zijn top.

Niets te veel gezegd: dit is een prachtig verbouwd elegant huis met formidabel uitzicht over de omgeving waar we in alle rust konden verblijven. Het huis beschikt over alle luxe en gemakken om een vakantie aangenaam te maken, zoals een volledig uitgeruste moderne keuken, terrassen, een heerlijke veranda, diverse badkamers en een zee aan ruimte. De antieke plavuizen en smaakvolle inrichting zijn een lust voor het oog. Wij waren vrijwel de enige bewoners van het gehucht, dus privacy genoeg. Het aardige stadje St Chinian ligt op ca. 7 minuten rijden afstand waar je o.a. een leuke markt en restaurantjes hebt. Ook van de groene omgeving van de Languedoc, met o.a. de wijnvelden, het strand en plaatsjes als Roquebrun hebben we genoten.

La Roque is een exceptioneel huis: een schitterend, met veel smaak verbouwd oud Frans huis met enorm veel sfeer. Práchtige authentieke vloeren, fijne meubels, kunst aan de muren, een keuken die van alle gemakken is voorzien, 2 heerlijke badkamers, 4 prachtige slaapkamers, fantastische bedden, prachtig terras met super-uitzicht. Daarnaast ook nog eens geweldig internet. De streek is schitterend, Saint Chinian een leuk dorp, waar je lekker kunt eten, je boodschappen kunt doen en de markt kunt bezoeken.
Wij zijn ook het park van de Haute Languedoc ingetrokken: wéér schitterende vergezichten, hele andere sfeer, een verkoelend meertje op 700 meter. Heel veel uitstapjes gemaakt, maar élke dag helemaal blij dat we rond een uur of half 5 weer terug konden naar het schitterende huis en heerlijk op het terras konden gaan zitten met een glaasje een boek of zomaar turen naar het mooie uitzicht. Het huis bleef lekker koel door de dikke muren. Wij hopen nog een keer terug te komen!
Restaurants, food & wine
The wine that is produced here has, due to the great efforts of the winegrowers, greatly improved in quality in recent years and can now easily compete with products from the more prestigious wine regions. Although there is still a lot of 'slobber wine' being produced, there are more and more, especially smaller winegrowers, who are planting new grape varieties and who are supplementing their tradition with new techniques and ideas. This often results in surprising wines!
A good example of such an approach can be found with the Border family in Tudery,
On the road from Cessenon to Cazouls is a domaine that produces excellent organic wines. At the 'Caveau' in Roquebrun, you can learn all about the local AOC Saint-Chinian wines. For the famous Gassac winery, you have to drive a little bit further. It is located in the village of Aniane, near Montpellier.
The region is also developing enormously in the culinary field. You can eat from very simple to refined in numerous restaurants in Saint-Chinian and its surroundings.
Activities
The swimming pool can be heated on request.
Swimming is also possible in the river Orb nearby. The Mediterranean Sea is about 40 minutes away.
Also interesting are the cities: Béziers (30 min), Narbonne (40 min) and Montpellier (75 min).
Bicycles can be hired in Saint-Chinian.
In Saint-Chinian there is a 'Bureau du Tourisme' where they will be happy to tell you more about the local and regional activities such as the village festivals which often last 2 to 3 days, the antique and brocant markets, 'vide greniers' and flea markets, the big Festa d'Oc and the Féria in Béziers or the festival of Carcassonne. Wine tastings and concerts are also organised.

Languedoc-Rousillon and Provence-Côte d'Azur are the two regions in France with a Mediterranean climate. In general, this means warm summers and mild winters with relatively little precipitation. On average, you can expect around 300 sunny days per year. The afternoon temperature varies between 8 and 15 degrees in the winter, between 18 and 25 degrees in the early and late season, and around 30 degrees in the summer, with peaks of up to 35 degrees.
